TwitterThe 2015 cartographic boundary KMLs are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. The records in this file allow users to map the parts of Urban Areas that overlap a particular county. After each decennial census, the Census Bureau delineates urban areas that represent densely developed territory, encompassing residential, commercial, and other nonresidential urban land uses. In general, this territory consists of areas of high population density and urban land use resulting in a representation of the "urban footprint." There are two types of urban areas: urbanized areas (UAs) that contain 50,000 or more people and urban clusters (UCs) that contain at least 2,500 people, but fewer than 50,000 people (except in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam which each contain urban clusters with populations greater than 50,000). Each urban area is identified by a 5-character numeric census code that may contain leading zeroes. The primary legal divisions of most states are termed counties. In Louisiana, these divisions are known as parishes. In Alaska, which has no counties, the equivalent entities are the organized boroughs, city and boroughs, municipalities, and for the unorganized area, census areas. The latter are delineated cooperatively for statistical purposes by the State of Alaska and the Census Bureau. In four states (Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia), there are one or more incorporated places that are independent of any county organization and thus constitute primary divisions of their states. These incorporated places are known as independent cities and are treated as equivalent entities for purposes of data presentation. The District of Columbia and Guam have no primary divisions, and each area is considered an equivalent entity for purposes of data presentation. The Census Bureau treats the following entities as equivalents of counties for purposes of data presentation: Municipios in Puerto Rico, Districts and Islands in American Samoa, Municipalities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas is covered by counties or equivalent entities. The boundaries for counties and equivalent entities are as of January 1, 2010.

TwitterThis collection of geo-referenced photos vary with regards to spatial accuracy and resolution. Use the hotlinks below to learn the details of each collection or review MassGIS's new story map explaining all the vintages of aerial photos. Tip: Reviewing that story map might be an easier way to digest the information rather than reviewing the more formal/standard metadata accessible via the hotlinks below.Within the web map certain layers will only be visible at particular zoom extents. If a layer is unavailable to turn on/off, then zoom in or out as needed until the layer becomes active. All photos, except year 1938, are captured during leaf-off (typically late winter/early spring). With the exception of the 1938 & 1990s collection, all photos are in true color. The 1938 & 1990s are in black and white. With regards to Dukes County (which includes the Islands of Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands) these are the applicable years of acquisition for those State-wide collections that span multiple years: "1990s collection" -- Only year 1999 for Dukes County"2001-2003 collection" -- Only year 2003 for Dukes County"2008-2009 collection" - Only year 2009 for Dukes County"2011-2012 collection" - Only year 2011 for Dukes County"2013-2014 collection" - Only year 2014 for Dukes CountyPhoto Details (Metadata)1938 Black & White Aerials (georeferenced & hosted by Harvard Forest)1990s Black & White Aerials2001-2003 Color Aerials2005 Color Aerials2008-2009 Color Aerials2011-2012 Color Aerials2013-2014 Color Aerials2015 Satellite Images - Extra Details2019 Color Aerials2021 Color Aerials2023 Color AerialsParcel Lines -- These data are NOT survey grade and are intended for general reference only. The parcel data comply with the MassGIS Level 3 parcel data standard. Each town in Dukes County hires a GIS Consultant to prepare their digital parcel lines and to link the properties to the respective records from the town's assessing database. The linkage is static and not updated in real-time - it is only 'as current' as the day the data was exported from the assessing database. The Martha's Vineyard Commission does not edit nor maintain any assessing data or parcel lines/property bounds. Each town within Dukes County updates their digital parcel data when they see fit (most, typically, update annually). Click on a specific town in this map to see when their parcel data was updated and by whom. Similarly, clicking on a parcel in this "MA Aerial Photos Since 1990s web map" will show you the applicable Fiscal Year the assessing info was exported.

Digital Globe 2011-12 Ortho Image Base Map is an
aerial-photo reference map that contains visible color, 30-centimeter
pixel resolution ortho imagery from Digital Globe captured in spring
2011 and spring 2012. Imagery was captured statewide in spring 2011 in
nine delivery areas. In Spring 2012, Berkshire County (the "Pittsfield"
delivery area) and the town of Barnstable were re-flown, and the newer
data are used in the imagery base map for these two areas.Image acquisition consisted of
"high value" and "standard" data, with the
high value areas complying with more stringent standards. MassGIS
created the ortho imagery base map such that the High Value imagery
draws atop any Standard imagery where the areas overlap. The
image base map layer was cached (pre-rendered) for the Web using ArcGIS 10.3. The caching process greatly speeds the display of the
imagery.

One should contact the Town's Conservation Commission &/or Board of Health for further guidance. This compilation of data consists of data served out by MassGIS (parcels, wellhead protection zones, & wetlands) and data uploaded by the Martha's Vineyard Commission (watershed boundaries and interior town line). While property owner info is provided, contact the town's Assessor for the most current info.Per MassGIS regarding the 2005 Wetlands Data:"The 2005 MassDEP Wetlands layers provide a medium-scale representation of the wetland areas of the state and are for planning purposes only. The wetlands boundaries shown on this map have been determined by photographic interpretation. They do not represent, and should not be used as, wetlands delineations under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (M.G.L. c. 131 §40) and its regulations. Wetlands boundary determination for other purposes, such as the Wetlands Protection Act MA Act M.G.L. c. 131 or local bylaws must use the relevant procedures and criteria."

TwitterThe Tisbury zoning GIS feature layer was created from on-screen digitizing of the official Tisbury Zoning map to the FY20 parcel lines. The GIS work was completed by the Martha's Vineyard Commission. The 'official Tisbury Zoning map' was created by Schoefield Barbini & Hone to the best of their ability based on the information they had at that time. Please visit the Town's website for their zoning bylaws. The overlay zoning districts are described within the Town's zoning bylaws. Some overlay zones are regarded as DCPCs (Districts of Critical Planning Concern). DCPCs are initially created and adopted by the Martha's Vineyard Commission (MVC) (the regional planning agency for Dukes County) and then adopted by the Town. The Town may choose to amend the language adopted by the MVC but only to make it more restrictive. Some overlay zones are enforced by the Board of Health and language for those zones may not appear in the Town's bylaws. The overlay zones have been compiled by the MVC from a variety & vintages of basemaps over the years based on the language within the Town's bylaws. See the attributes in the feature layer for date of last GIS edit and notes regarding compilation. The Town's parcel data is compiled by CAI Technologies per the MassGIS Level 3 parcel data standard. These data are then delivered to MassGIS for public sharing. The parcel data layer within this webmap is a direct feed from the MassGIS ArcGIS OnLine cloud. Whenever MassGIS pushes an update of the Tisbury parcels to the AGOL cloud, the parcel bounds within this webmap will automatically reflect the latest update. The property information associated with the parcel bounds is a static export and only updated at the time the parcel bounds are updated by CAI Technologies. For the most current property information, please see the Assessor's online parcel property interactive map. This website is maintained by CAI Technologies per their contract with the Town.
