The MassDEP Wetlands datalayer comprises two feature types, polygons and arcs (lines). The attribute codes in the polygon layer describe different types of wetland environments and the arc attributes describe line types based on adjacent polygon types or arcs defined as hydrologic connections. In this service the wetland areas are displayed using outlines and labeled with wetland code abbreviation. This symbology is useful for displaying the data atop aerial imagery. Please see https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massgis-data-massdep-wetlands-2005 for more details.
MassGIS scanned the USGS topographic quadrangles to create a digital database that can provide images of the paper maps. These images can be used as a backdrop for plotting vector data and for interpretation and analysis. MassGIS scanned the 15-minute series (vintage 1982-1990) where these maps were available; the 7.5-minute maps (1967-1979) were used elsewhere. Note that the elevation labels for the contours on the maps may be in meters or feet, depending on the vintage of the original paper map that MassGIS scanned. Contour labels on maps from 1982 and later are in meters; labels on maps from 1967 through 1979 are in feet. See the

The Soils datalayer has been automated from published soils surveys as provided on various media by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). All soils data released by MassGIS have been "SSURGO-certified," which means they have been reviewed and approved by the NRCS and meet all standards and requirements for inclusion in the national SSURGO (Soil Survey Geographic database) release of county-level digital soils data. Soil survey areas are roughly based on county boundaries.More details...Feature service also available
This web map App was compiled by the Martha's Vineyard Commission (MVC) for planning purposes only. The flood data is provided by FEMA (effective 2016) and uploaded to ArcGIS Online by the MVC. Click here for more details about FEMA Flood Zones. For an official determination of whether or not a specific location is located within a Flood Hazard Ares, please visit FEMA's Map Service Center. This web map/App is provided for planning purposes only. The map also includes parcel boundaries and building outlines (the latter generated from roof outlines visible on aerial photos). The parcel data is assembled and published to ArcGIS OnLine by MassGIS. The online hosted data were last updated by MassGIS in May 2021. The parcel pop-up information is from a data extract from the respective town's assessing database. These data were current on date of extraction and may not reflect the most current assessing info. For the most current assessing info, please contact the Town's Assessing Office. The parcel boundaries and attribute table conform to the State's Level 3 Parcel Data Standard. See MassGIS for full details. The building outlines (roofprints) were created and then published as a tile layer (no site specific info available) by MassGIS.
