    Description

This is a MD iMAP hosted service layer. Find more information at http://imap.maryland.gov. These data map hub and corridor elements within the green infrastructure. The Green Infrastructure Assessment was developed to provide decision support for Maryland's Department of Natural Resources land conservation programs. Methods used to identify and rank green infrastructure lands are intended soley for this use. Other applications are at the discretion of the user. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is not responsible for any inaccuracies in the data and does not necessarily endorse any uses or products derived from the data other than those for which the data were originally intended. Maryland's green infrastructure is a network of undeveloped lands that provide the bulk of the state's natural support system. Ecosystem services - such as cleaning the air - filtering water - storing and cycling nutrients - conserving soils - regulating climate - and maintaining hydrologic function - are all provided by the existing expanses of forests - wetlands - and other natural lands. These ecologically valuable lands also provide marketable goods and services - like forest products - fish and wildlife - and recreation. The Green Infrastructure serves as vital habitat for wild species and contributes in many ways to the health and quality of life for Maryland residents. To identify and prioritize Maryland's green infrastructure - we developed a tool called the Green Infrastructure Assessment (GIA). The GIA was based on principles of landscape ecology and conservation biology - and provides a consistent approach to evaluating land conservation and restoration efforts in Maryland. It specifically attempts to recognize: a variety of natural resource values (as opposed to a single species of wildlife - for example) - how a given place fits into a larger system - the ecological importance of natural open space in rural and developed areas - the importance of coordinating local - state and even interstate planning - and the need for a regional or landscape-level view for wildlife conservation. The GIA identified two types of important resource lands - hubs"" and ""corridors."" Hubs typically large contiguous areas - separated by major roads and/or human land uses - that contain one or more of the following: Large blocks of contiguous interior forest (containing at least 250 acres - plus a transition zone of 300 feet) Large wetland complexes - with at least 250 acres of unmodified wetlands; Important animal and plant habitats of at least 100 acres - including rare - threatened - and endangered species locations - unique ecological communities - and migratory bird habitats; relatively pristine stream and river segments (which - when considered with adjacent forests and wetlands - are at least 100 acres) that support trout - mussels - and other sensitive aquatic organisms; and existing protected natural resource lands which contain one or more of the above (for example - state parks and forests - National Wildlife Refuges - locally owned reservoir properties - major stream valley parks - and Nature Conservancy preserves). In the GIA model - the above features were identified from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) spatial data that covered the entire state. Developed areas and major roads were excluded - areas less than 100 contiguous acres were dropped - adjacent forest and wetland were added to the remaining hubs - and the edges were smoothed. The average size of all hubs in the state is approximately 2200 acres. Corridors are linear features connecting hubs together to help animals and plant propagules to move between hubs. Corridors were identified using many sets of data - including land cover - roads - streams - slope - flood plains - aquatic resource data - and fish blockages. Generally speaking - corridors connect hubs of similar type (hubs containing forests are connected to one ano

State of Maryland municipality boundary dataset.Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) maps annexations from municipalities. This dataset is created and maintained by the Maryland Department of Planning. These boundaries are not intended to serve as a legal description. Fields:MUN_NAME (Municipality Name): Name of Municipality located in Maryland.RESOLUTION_NUMBER (Resolution Number): Local Municipality Annexation Resolution Number.ANNEXATION_DATE (Annexation Date) (DD/MM/YYYY): The Annexation Date field shows when there's been a change in the boundary. This date is known as the “Effective Date” from the municipality. The date 1/1/1997 is used as a default date of when annexation changes were first indicated in the GIS layer and not necessarily of when it was actually annexed. If there's a date of 1/1/1997, it can be assumed that the annexation occurred on this date or before. For example, for Baltimore City, the city boundary was determined hundreds of years ago. Other than that default date, the date will show when the property was annexed. ACRES (GIS Acres): GIS calculated acresJURSCODE (Jurisdiction Code) – Four letter county code: ALLE (Allegany), ANNE (Anne Arundel), BACI (Baltimore City), BACO (Baltimore County), CALV (Calvert), CARO (Caroline), CARR (Carroll), CECI (Cecil), CHAR (Charles), DORC (Dorchester), FRED (Frederick), GARR (Garrett), HARF (Harford), HOWA (Howard), KENT (Kent), MONT (Montgomery), PRIN (Prince George’s) QUEE (Queen Anne’s), SOME (Somerset), STMA (St. Mary’s), TALB (Talbot), WASH (Washington), WICO (Wicomico), WORC (Worcester).

The BLOCKLOT ID is used to link the parcel data to the MD Property View A&T database. It should be pointed out that in some instances a single BLOCKLOT ID in the Property View A&T database may correspond to more than one parcel. There are only 14 instances were a single BLOCKLOT ID corresponds to 4 or more parcels, these are typically railroads, utility, or government properties. In other cases a single BLOCKLOT ID may correspond to two separate parcels that are essentially one property bisected by a road. There are other instances where there appears no logical explanation for a single BLOCKLOT ID corresponding to multiple parcels. Lot #5 contains the full project area Dataset Description: The SANDY_Restoration_DE_MD_QL2 project called for the Planning, Acquisition, processing and derivative products of LIDAR data to be collected at a nominal pulse spacing (NPS) of 0.7 meters. Project specifications are based on the U.S. Geological Survey National Geospatial Program Base LIDAR Specification, Version 1. The data was developed based on a horizontal projection/datum of State Plane Zone Maryland (1900), NAD83, feet and vertical datum of NAVD1988 (GEOID12A), feet. LiDAR data was delivered in RAW flight line swath format, processed to create Classified LAS 1.2 Files formatted to 3842 individual 1500m x 1500m tiles, and corresponding Intensity Images and Bare Earth DEMs tiled to the same 1500m x 1500m schema, and Breaklines in ESRI shapefile format. Ground Conditions: LiDAR was collected in Winter 2013 / Spring 2014, while no snow was on the ground and rivers were at or below normal levels. In order to post process the LiDAR data to meet task order specifications, Quantum Spatial established a total of 78 QA control points and 99 Land Cover control points that were used to calibrate the LIDAR to known ground locations established throughout the SANDY_Restoration_DE_MD_QL2 project area. This is a MD iMAP hosted service. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages over 446,000 acres of public lands and protected open space in the state. The DNR Lands data (part of Technology Toolbox Protected Lands data set) consists of mapped information that represent those lands that are owned by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Utilizing various land protection programs and funding sources, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has preserved environmentally important lands through the use of perpetual conservation easements. The Forest Legacy Program is designed to identify and protect environmentally important forest lands that are threatened by present or future conversion to non-forest use through the use of perpetual conservation easements between willing sellers and willing buyers. Only private forest land in a Forest Legacy Area is eligible for the program. Marylands Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) has helped thousands of Maryland landowners plant streamside buffers, establish wetlands, protect highly erodible land, and create wildlife habitat. The State of Maryland has entered into a memorandum of Agreement with USDA authorizing the State of Maryland to continue the voluntary program for the purchase of perpetual easements for Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land. A perpetual CREP easement is a written legal agreement between a landowner and the State of Maryland in which there is an acquired permanent interest in the land to install or maintain conservation practices that protect water quality and natural resources. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers the CREP easement program. DNR is also assisted by a number of local governments and non-government organization sponsors.Data from individual county and state records were used in production of DNR Lands. Specific Project boundary maps, subdivision plats and deed plots were used to create boundary polygons. In the case of the Chesapeake Forest properties, original property boundary data was received from the Chesapeake Corporation. The horizontal accuracy of these lines is being continually improved. The Department of Natural Resources makes no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the use or appropriateness of Spatial Data, and there are no warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose or use. The Department of Natural Resources shall not be liable for any lost profits, consequential damages, or claims against the Department of Natural Resources by third parties. Description

Property Parcel boundaries for Baltimore City, 2004 edition. Can be linked to the MD Property View Assessors and Taxation (A&T) Databse using the BLOCKLOT field. Accuracy issues have been observed in this layer, particularly in areas where there appears to have been recent construction. In those areas parcel boundaries may not correspond to actual ground conditions. In addition 12 parcels have no BLOCKLOT identifier, another 97 have BLOCKLOT codes identifying them as 'ROW', 'ERROR', or 'ERROR/ROW', leaving 109 parcels that cannot be joined to the A and T Database. Excluding these, there are 242 duplicate BLOCKLOT codes shared by 672 parcels. The number of duplicates for a single parcel ranges from 2 to 72. This is part of a collection of 221 Baltimore Ecosystem Study metadata records that point to a geodatabase. The geodatabase is available online and is considerably large. Upon request, and under certain arrangements, it can be shipped on media, such as a usb hard drive. The geodatabase is roughly 51.4 Gb in size, consisting of 4,914 files in 160 folders. Although this metadata record and the others like it are not rich with attributes, it is nonetheless made available because the data that it represents could be indeed useful. Description

The 2022 cartographic boundary shapefiles are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. School Districts are single-purpose administrative units within which local officials provide public educational services for the area's residents. The Census Bureau obtains the boundaries, names, local education agency codes, grade ranges, and school district levels for school districts from state officials for the primary purpose of providing the U.S. Department of Education with estimates of the number of children in poverty within each school district. This information serves as the basis for the Department of Education to determine the annual allocation of Title I funding to states and school districts. The cartographic boundary files include separate files for elementary, secondary and unified school districts. The generalized school district boundaries in this file are based on those in effect for the 2021-2022 school year, i.e., in operation as of January 1, 2022.

    Description

This resource is a member of a series. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The All Roads Shapefile includes all features within the MTDB Super Class "Road/Path Features" distinguished where the MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) for the feature in MTDB that begins with "S". This includes all primary, secondary, local neighborhood, and rural roads, city streets, vehicular trails (4wd), ramps, service drives, alleys, parking lot roads, private roads for service vehicles (logging, oil fields, ranches, etc.), bike paths or trails, bridle/horse paths, walkways/pedestrian trails, and stairways.
