This details the boundaries of all properties within the City of Melbourne. A boundary is described as a division between adjacent political entities, tracts of private land, or geographic zones. Boundary lines may be imaginary lines, physical features that follow those lines, or the graphical representation of those lines on a map. Boundary lines between privately owned land parcels are usually called property lines.

This datasets presents the South Australian suburb boundaries as of August 2018. Suburbs and Localities (or Rural suburbs) are defined areas of the State established for addressing purposes. The base data used for the capture is the cadastre. The Suburbs layer is a data set that reflects the official boundaries of addressable localities in South Australia as defined by the Geographical Names Act, 1991. The polygons are based on the existing cadastral, topographic or road centerline data that defines the underlying features that boundaries follow. The Suburb Boundaries in the urban and rural areas are updated when required through notification in the Government Gazette or spatial improvement of the cadastre. The capturing started 1990 and is ongoing. The Suburb boundary dataset is currently 100% complete for the state and complies with government classification standards. These polygons represent approximate native soil sub-bases and derived textures based on digitized maps from the Geological Survey of Victoria (c. 1956). Soils are expected to be extensively modified from these types throughout Melbourne due to extensive disturbance, and cut and fill associated with the city's development.

Geoscience Australia catalog entry: Emergency Management Facilities Database Lineage statement Using the previous Emergency Management Facilities datasets (2018) acquired from State and Territory agencies, the data was uploaded into an ArcSDE environment using Feature Manipulation Engine (FME). The process included the extraction of the themed features, and the translation of the data into a schema created by the Built Environment & Exposure Section, National Location Information Branch, Geoscience Australia (GA). In 2023 further FME processing was completed where the dataset was address matched using the original address provided and compared with the Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) data. If no address match occurred GIS specialists attempted to find a relevant corresponding G-NAF address to join to, where possible. Data dictionary
