In 2022, the divorce rate in the United States stood at *** per 1,000 of the population. Divorce in the U.S. Divorce is the termination of a marital union. In the United States, as in most other countries, it is a legal process in which a judge or another legal authority dissolves the bonds of matrimony existing between two persons. The process of divorce also normally involves issues surrounding distribution of property, financial support of the former spouse, child custody and child support. A divorce also allows a person to marry again. In the United States, divorce is, like marriage, a matter for state governments, not the federal government. Although divorce laws vary from state to state, for example on which terms a divorce can be arranged, a divorce must be certified by a court of law to become effective. A declining divorce rate Over the last couple of years, both the marriage rate and the divorce rate have been declining in the United States. As of 2009, the average length of a first marriage in the U.S. was ***** years, while the average length of a second marriage was about ** years.

As of 2023, the divorce rate in China decreased to *** divorces per 1,000 inhabitants. Before 2020, this number had been constantly increasing since 2002. Divorce rate in Asian countries The divorce rate in China soared from around **** divorces per 1,000 people in 2000 to **** divorces in 2019. This is a quite high value compared to the divorce rate of countries in the Asia Pacific region. However, China shares the fate of a growing divorce rate with many other developing countries, while in most developed countries, the number of divorces per 1,000 inhabitants is either stable or falling. For example, the divorce rate in Singapore has been manly stable at *** divorces per 1,000 inhabitants in the last ten years and the divorce rate in South Korea has fallen from *** in 2009 to *** in 2023. In comparison, the U.S. divorce rate has been falling since 1992 from *** divorces per 1,000 people to *** divorces in 2022. Dating scene in China For the younger generations, dating and marriage happens (if at all) at a much later life stage compared to their parents. The fact that China has the highest working hours in the region does not ease the dire situation for singles in China, most of them being employed as professionals or employed in the media sector, where long working hours and high work pressure are quite common.

    Description:

Explore a dataset that brings to light the intricate patterns of divorces across Bulgaria's diverse landscapes. Originally derived from the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, this collection has been meticulously refined to provide a clear, detailed perspective on marital dissolutions by region and residence type. It's a tool designed for researchers, policymakers, and anyone interested in the societal dynamics of Bulgaria.

    DataTransformation:

I made some data transformation, so the dataset would be easier to use for you guys:

    • Renaming Columns: I replaced cryptic labels with clear, descriptive titles. 'Updates' now reads as 'revision_number', instantly clarifying its role in tracking data versions.
    • Decoding Regions: EKATTE codes were deciphered into their actual English names, offering immediate geographic context.
    • Residence Reimagined: I transformed numerical codes into descriptive categories - 'Total', 'City/Urban', and 'Rural' - painting a clearer picture of each record's residential backdrop.
    • Pruning the Excess: Columns that added little value were removed, focusing your attention on the most insightful data.

    Inside the Dataset:

    • revision_number: Tracks the version of each record, reflecting updates or changes.
    • date: Indicates the year of the data entry.
    • region: Names the specific Bulgarian region for each record.
    • region_code: Retains the original EKATTE code for reference.
    • Residence: Categorizes the residence setting as 'Total', 'City/Urban', or 'Rural'.
    • divorce_count: Quantifies the number of divorces.

    Acknowledgment:

This dataset is sourced from the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria's open data portal. For further exploration of Bulgaria's statistical landscape, visit their official site.

    Disclaimer:

While I've made efforts to enhance the dataset's accessibility and interpretability, users should consider the context and collection methodology of the original data when drawing conclusions.

    Description

Socially monogamous birds may break up their partnership by a so-called ’divorce’ behaviour. Divorce rate immensely varies across avian taxa that have a predominantly monogamous social mating system. Although a range of factors associated with divorce have been tested, broad-scale drivers of divorce rate remain contentious. Moreover, the impact of sexual roles in divorce still needs further investigation due to the conflicting interest of males and females. Here we applied phylogenetic comparative methods to analyse one of the largest datasets ever compiled that included divorce rates from published studies of 186 avian species from 25 orders and 61 families. We tested correlations between divorce rate and a group of factors: ‘promiscuity’ of both sexes (propensity of polygamy), migration distance, and adult mortality. Our results showed that only male promiscuity, but not female promiscuity, had a positive relationship with divorce rate. Furthermore, migration distance was positively c...

Analysis of ‘Divorces by date of divorce, length of marriage and age and nationality of former spouses ’ provided by Analyst-2 (analyst-2.ai), based on source dataset retrieved from http://data.europa.eu/88u/dataset/100139-kanton-basel-stadt on 12 January 2022.

--- Dataset description provided by original source is as follows ---

This dataset shows the divorces in Basel-Stadt by date of divorce, length of marriage, as well as by the age and nationality of the woman or man. The data shall be updated annually. Before 1984, only the total of divorces is available. In 2000, a new divorce law came into force. In 2010, this was adjusted. Until 2006, a divorce was counted in Basel-Stadt if the applicant was domiciled in Basel-Stadt. Since 2007, a divorce has been counted in Basel-Stadt if the man resides in Basel-Stadt, or if he lives abroad and the woman lives in Basel-Stadt. For methodological reasons, the values published here may differ from those in public statistics: In the latter, subsequently reported divorces are counted in the last year that has not yet been completed. In this record they are counted in the year of the divorce date..Source: Statistics on the natural population movement (BEVNAT) of the Federal Statistical Office (BFS).

    Description

This qualitative study explored incidents of sexual assault of women by former husbands or cohabitants and the link to male peer support for sexually aggressive men in rural Ohio. Sexual assault was defined as unwanted sexual contact, sexual coercion, attempted rape, or rape. A series of screening questions were asked to determine a respondent's eligibility for inclusion in the study. The main criteria were being aged 18 or older and having ever had any type of unwanted sexual experience when they wanted to end, were trying to end, or after they had ended a relationship with a husband or live-in male partner. If they met the selection criteria, the women were invited to a semi-structured face-to-face interview at a time and place of their choosing. Between February 2003 and July 2004, 43 women were interviewed. The interviews included several demographic questions such as income, level of education, marital status, length of the relationship, and how long the respondent had lived in the area. Other questions asked about the unwanted sexual experiences, social support networks, and male pornography use.
