Range—A vertical column of townships in the PLSS.Section—A one-square-mile block of land, containing 640 acres, or approximately one thirty-sixth of a township. Due to the curvature of the Earth, sections may occasionally be slightly smaller than one square mile.Township—An approximately 6-mile square area of land, containing 36 sections. Also, a horizontal row of townships in the PLSS.
This feature class contains "land" (surface rights) parcel boundaries delineated for property tax assessment purposes. This feature class includes all private, tax-exempt, and state-assessed land parcels listed on the secured tax roll, but does not include mineral rights (subsurface) parcels, mobilehomes, or unsecured entities.Parcels are modeled as planimetric polygons in a seamless fabric comprising the spatial extent of the County of Kern, in the State of California.Tax Roll Data is available in separate database tables, which can be joined to the feature class using the APN field as a key.

In late 1996, the Dept of Conservation (DOC) surveyed state and federal agencies about the county boundary coverage they used. As a result, DOC adopted the 1:24,000 (24K) scale U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) dataset (USGS source) for their Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program (FMMP) but with several modifications. Detailed documentation of these changes is provided by FMMP and included in the lineage section of the metadata.A dataset was made available (approximately 2004) through CALFIRE - FRAP and the California Spatial Information Library (CaSIL), with additional updates throughout subsequent years. More recently, an effort was made to improve the coastal linework by using the previous interior linework from the 24k data, but replacing the coastal linework based on NOAA's ERMA coastal dataset (which used NAIP 2010). In this dataset, all bays (plus bay islands and constructed features) are merged into the mainland, and coastal features (such as islands and constructed features) are not included, with the exception of the Channel Islands which ARE included. This service represents the latest released version, and is updated when new versions are released. As of June, 2019 it represents cnty19_1.

This dataset is a subset of the Tuolumne Aquatic Resources Relational Inventory (TARRI) compiled by Brian Quelvog, California Department of Fish and Game. The database focuses on fish, amphibians, insects, crustacean, and other invertebrates, and includes hydrologic information associated with collection sites in inland waterways located in Tuolumne County and the six surrounding counties (Calaveras, Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa, Mono, and Alpine). Over seventy-five sources of information were used to develop the dataset including aquatic surveys by several agencies, file reports from the California Department of Fish and Game, personal communications, and research articles as well as museum records from institutions such as the California Academy of Sciences. Collection dates for some data are historical (back to 1889), but the majority range from 1979 to 2003. What each record represents Each record represents the collection, identification, and cataloging of one or more specimens of the given taxon under the location, time, and habitat conditions listed in the record.

This shapefile contains tax rate area (TRA) boundaries in COUNTYNAME County for the specified assessment roll year. Boundary alignment is based on the 2024 county parcel map. A tax rate area (TRA) is a geographic area within the jurisdiction of a unique combination of cities, schools, and revenue districts that utilize the regular city or county assessment roll, per Government Code 54900. Each TRA is assigned a six-digit numeric identifier, referred to as a TRA number. TRA = tax rate area number
This data set contains the Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones and fault traces as shown on the Official Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones Map of the Crevison Peak quadrangle. The dataset is comprised of polygons that form regulatory zone boundaries (Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones), lines that show identified fault traces, and label points and leaderlines for fault trace annotation. These features delineate areas where surface fault rupture previously has occurred, or where local topographic, geological, and geotechnical conditions indicate a potential for permanent ground displacements such that mitigation by avoidance as stated in Public Resources Code Section 2621.5 would be required.
