    Description

This map contains district-based ACT canopy cover polygons at 1m resolution (vegetation cover above 3m) as at April/May 2020, detected with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). The full ACT vector dataset has been split into districts and 1km tiles to allow for easier viewing.WARNING: Due to complexity and high resolution this dataset may draw slowly or appear to miss some trees. For best results, zoom in, view single districts separately, or download a local copy.LIDAR data was acquired in April/May 2020 for the ACT under contract by Aerometrex, at an average resolution of 12ppm. LiDAR is classified to Level 3 (for ground) and delivered as LAS v1.4 in in GDA2020 MGA zone 55. Visit https://www.planning.act.gov.au/professionals/survey-spatial/spatial-information/lidar-data for more info. Processing was completed on the LAS GDA2020 MGA Zone 55 LAS tile set using AHD vertical datum at 1m resolution. Dataset represents high vegetation above 3m (tree canopy or tree-approximate objects - see caveats).Methodology:High noise errors were reclassified.Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) surfaces were created using ArcPro 2.8 LAS Dataset Geoprocessing Tools at 1 m resolution.Canopy Height Model CHM was determined = Digital Surface Model (DSM) - Digital Elevation Model (DEM).Pits (empty cells inside tree canopies) of 2 pixel (2x1m) were removed using Nibble. An ACT Urban building footprint layer generated from the 2020 LIDAR dataset by Aerometrex was used to remove spurious canopy portions from building roof areas in the urban area.An NDVI layer from pan-sharpened Pleiades multispectral satellite imagery, acquired in April 2019 (the Uriarra area) and November 2019 (rest of Urban Area) was used to delete erroneous non-vegetative surfaces in urban areas.Canopy holes <=1m2 were filled by Eliminate tool.GDA2020 MGA Zone 55.Tree canopy lower than 3m were removed. Converted to a binary raster, then converted to vector.Other available datasets: ACT 2020 Canopy Height Model (raster), ACT Trees (Individual Delineated Trees with Height) (vector), DEM, DSM, Contours, Building Footprints (© Australian Capital Territory & Aerometrex Limited), ACT Permeability, shrub cover - contact spatialdata@act.gov.au. Full LAS Tile sets can also be obtained in the following vertical datums: GDA2020 ellipsoidal, AHD, AVWS - see https://elevation.fsdf.org.au/. Other derivative products (including other canopy products) are available on request or through the ACT Geospatial Data Catalogue.Road, Block and Division Canopy 2020 Statistics also available here: https://actmapi-actgov.opendata.arcgis.com/maps/act-canopy-cover-2020-statistics/aboutCaveats:1. Please note that most (if not all) CHM-based tree delineation results should be thought of as "tree-approximate objects", and not actual trees. 2. Although every effort was made to remove any erroneous polygons (such as street lights, back yard fences and powerlines), there are likely to be some errors remaining.Creative Commons by Attribution (CCBY) 4.0 (Australian Capital Territory). Description

The transitional NVR - category 2-vulnerable regulated land layer is a component of the transitional NVR map. The transitional NVR Map was prepared by Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) under Part 5A of the Local Land Services Act 2013 (LLS Act) and supporting Local Land Services Regulation 2014. Category 2-vulnerable regulated land for this layer is taken to include land designated as steep or highly erodible land, protected riparian land or special category land.

The 2022 annual review of the transitional NVR map was published on 23 March 2022. Please read below for details about changes occurring as a result of the 2022 annual review. The latest version of the map can be viewed online using the transitional NVR Map viewer.

    https://www.lmbc.nsw.gov.au/Maps/index.html?viewer=NVRMap

The category 2-vulnerable regulated land layer indicates where clearing of native vegetation may not be permitted under the Land Management (Native Vegetation) Code 2017, and a limited suite of allowable activities apply)

Category 2-vulnerable regulated land is comprised of three layers. These being:

    • Vulnerable Riparian. Generated from the NSW Hydroline and HydroArea dataset, natural named watercourses were used to capture streams with a buffer applied to both watercourses and water-bodies. Three datasets have been generated by creating buffers in the original dataset.

A 20-meter buffer was used for both sides of the bank to represent the no-clearing boundary within the banks of major streams, lakes and lagoons. The buffer polygon created includes the bed of the stream, lakes and lagoons.

A 22.5-meter buffer was applied on either side streams mapped by hydroline. It was assumed that the average stream width for a stream represented by a stream centre line is 5m.

For minor streams mapped by hydroline, a 10m buffer was applied either side of the stream.

Vulnerable - Steep Land, generated from 5m elevation data (courtesy Dept. Customer Service). This product has currently been generated for all MGA Zones in NSW 54,55 and 56.

    • Special Category Land. A selection of land susceptible to erosion or land that is otherwise environmentally sensitive, such as mass movement and salinity.

Changes to the mapping of category 2-vulnerable regulated land introduced in the publish of the revised transitional NVR Map on 23 March 2022 have resulted from the changes to the transitional NVR - land excluded from the LLS Act layer and also the refinement of the mapping of steep slopes land (>18 degrees slope). Availability of more detailed elevation data (5m ELVIS DEM) for New South Wales has resulted in changes for steep land mapping in Eastern NSW (MGA Zone 56).

The data is provided as multi value raster that identifies the category 2-vulnerable regulated land, category 2-sensitive regulated land and where category 2-sensitive and category 2-vulnerable regulated land overlaps.

    Pixel values:

    3 - category 2-vulnerable regulated land

    4 - category 2-sensitive regulated land

6 - where category 2-sensitive and category 2-vulnerable regulated land overlap (display class)

Spatial datasets compiled in the category 2-vulnerable regulated land layer are sourced from Department Planning and Environment.

Data on the transitional NVR map viewer is updated on a monthly basis for minor data changes. https://www.lmbc.nsw.gov.au/Maps/index.html?viewer=NVRMap

AusAEM-WA, Southwest-Albany Airborne Electromagnetic Survey Blocks:: SkyTEM® airborne electromagnetic data and GALEI inversion conductivity estimates

The accompanying data package, titled “AusAEM-WA, Southwest-Albany Airborne Electromagnetic Survey Blocks:: SkyTEM® airborne electromagnetic data and GALEI inversion conductivity estimates”, was released on 4 November 2021 by Geoscience Australia (GA) and the Geological Survey of Western Australia.

The data represents the first phase of the AusAEM2020 (WA) survey flown with a with a rotary aircraft contracted to Geoscience Australia, using the SkyTEM® airborne electromagnetic system. The survey was flown at a 20-kilometre nominal line spacing over the most south-western part and down to the southern coast of Western Australia. The area encompasses close to 12,500 line kilometres of newly acquired airborne electromagnetic geophysical data.

This package contains the total (~12,500) of survey data which have been quality-controlled, processed, modelled and inverted both by the contractor and by GA. The survey was divided in four blocks, flown east-west and north-south direction. Since the survey covers two standard UTM zones 50 and 51, wherever projected Map Grid of Australia (MGA) easting and northing coordinates are used they are referenced to MGA Zone 50. All four block’s projected grid coordinates have been supplied in GDA2020 MGA Zone 50 datum, and contain the geodetic latitude and longitude WGS84 coordinate fields

Geoscience Australia and Western Australia (Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety) commissioned the AusAEM 2020 survey as part of the national airborne electromagnetic acquisition program, to complete 20km line separation AEM coverage over WA. The program is designed to deliver freely available pre-competitive geophysical data to assist in the investigation and discovery of potential mineral, energy and groundwater resources within Australia. Funding for the survey came from the Western Australian government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme.

Geoscience Australia managed the survey data acquisition, processing, contracts, quality control of the survey and generated the inversion products included in the data package.

    The data release package contains

    1. A data release package summary PDF document.

    2. The survey logistics and processing report.

    3. KML and Shapefiles for the regional flight lines.

    4. Final processed point located line data in ASEG-GDF2 format.

    5. Conductivity estimates generated by SkyTEM’s Workbench.

    6. Conductivity estimates and products (suitable for various 3D packages) generated by Geoscience Australia's Layered Earth Inversion algorithm.

    Description

A preliminary historical 1969 land use map was constructed for a large portion of the South East of South Australia by modifying the existing 2008 digital land use map based on manual interpretation of black and white aerial photographs and interpretation of irrigation bore drilling records. The major land use changes that could be identified between 2008 and the 1969 aerial photos were between native vegetation, general cleared grazing/dryland cropping land uses, plantation forestry, horticulture (mainly vineyards) and to some degree irrigated land uses. Locations of irrigation bores based upon historical bore drilling records were used as a basis for reducing the area under irrigated land uses in the 1969 land use map. This preliminary product provides an improved basis for modelling of historical groundwater recharge for use in groundwater flow models. It is likely to have other applications outside the groundwater modelling domain. There are significant limitations in the accuracy of the map, associated with the method of visual interpretation of aerial photos. Further work, using a variety of other data sources could significantly improve this preliminary product. An “intermediate” land use map has also been constructed as a placeholder to approximately represent the period 1983-1990. This map is based upon the 1969 land use map, with the only additions being the areas affected by the 1983 bushfires (classified as “Burnt Out” and areas affected by vineyard expansion in the late 1970s and early 1980s.Both of the preliminary land use maps constructed in this study are considered to be more useful in modelling of rainfall recharge to groundwater for the region than using an existing electronic land use map, e.g. 1998. However, refinement of these products using aerial photos and extraction bore drilling records (for the 1983 map) and anecdotal or documented evidence and information from the forestry and viticulture industries would be of great benefit to future applications, including recharge modelling. This study was supported by The Goyder Institute for Water Research.Date coverage: 1969 - 1983Location:- South East of South Australia- GDA94 MGA Zone 54 E377,300 m, N5,770,000 m in the south-west and E565,300 m, N5,994,000 m in the north-east.

    Description

The focus of this dataset is the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It contains digital spatial data developed to assist in land management decision making in the ACT. The dataset contains hazard ratings for land salinity, stream salt load and stream EC as well as overall salinity hazard for each HGL unit. Information about landscape functions and appropriate salinity management strategies are also listed. Hyperlinks to full management descriptions for each HGL unit are provided. The Hydrogeological Landscape (HGL) concept provides a structure for understanding how differences in salinity are expressed across the landscape. A HGL spatially differentiates areas with similar salt stores and pathways for salt mobilisation. The process of delineating a HGL relies on the integration of a number of causative factors: geology, soils, slope, regolith thickness, and climate; an understanding of the different modes of salinity development; and the impacts of salinity within landscapes (land salinity, salt load and salt concentration in streams due to salt contributions from base flow and runoff ). Information sources such as soil landscape maps, site characterisation, salinity occurrence maps, hydrogeological data, surface water and groundwater data are incorporated into standardised unit descriptions.Updates: By mid-2017, this dataset will be updated to align HGL boundaries with the final ACT Soil Landscape linework. After that, the dataset will be static, but could be updated as required if new or better mapping becomes available.Fit for purpose: This dataset was captured at 1:25,000 scale. This dataset is fit for use as a tool for assessing land management issues at the paddock-scale in the ACT, but this does not negate the need for site assessment at a scale suitable to any potential land use or development under consideration. The mapping was mapped in ‘GDA1994 MGA Zone 55s’ and transformed to GDA2020 MGA Zone 55s.Credits: Rob Muller (NSW OEH), Wayne Cook (NSW OEH), Allan Nicholson (NSW DPI), Alie Cowood (UC)Disclaimer: While all care is taken to ensure accuracy, the ACT Government does not warrant that the map is free from errors. © ACT Government

    Description

Abstract This dataset contains the files generated for the Beetaloo Sub-basin Chance of Success Mapping undertaken as part of the Geological and Bioregional Assessments Program. Play fairway mapping was used to map the distribution of petroleum plays likely to be developed in a 5 to 10 year time frame. This process aims to address the geological factors likely to assist in identifying whether a viable petroleum play is likely to be present, and makes no attempt to factor economics, politics, or social factors into the assessment. ## Attribution Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program ## History This data set contains image files pertaining to chance of success prospectivity assessment for the Beetaloo Sub-basin. This was undertaken in Stage 2 of the Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program and described in Hall LS, Wang L, Bailey A, Orr M, Owens R, Lech M, Skeers N and Woods M (2020) Petroleum prospectivity for the Beetaloo Sub-basin. Technical appendix for the Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program: Stage 2. Department of the Environment and Energy, Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO and Geoscience Australia, Australia. All files use the Map Grid of Australia (MGA) projection (zone 53) and the Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94). Datasets were generated using Petrosys software in Geoscience Australia.
