TwitterOn February 4th and 5th, 2020, West Texas and SE New Mexico saw a large snow event. Midland/Odessa, TX had their 4th largest snowfall since 1930, with nearly 8 inches recorded. Schools, roads, and the Midland International Air & Space Port were all closed due to the snow and ice, and thanks to emergency managers in the region, lives were saved from what could have been a devastating storm. Record low temperatures in the following days helped refreeze the roads overnight, and made the impacts from this storm last past February 5th. This story map shows the chronological timeline of the storm as it moved in from the West and continued over the night and into the morning of February 5th.
