    Description

    This feature layer provides access to OpenStreetMap (OSM) highways data for Central America and Caribbean, which is updated every 5 minutes with the latest edits. This hosted feature layer view is referencing a hosted feature layer of OSM line (way) data in ArcGIS Online that is updated with minutely diffs from the OSM planet file. This feature layer view includes highway features defined as a query against the hosted feature layer (i.e. highway is not blank).In OSM, a highway describes any kind of motorway, road, street or path. These features are identified with a highway tag. There are hundreds of different tag values for highway used in the OSM database. In this feature layer, unique symbols are used for several of the most popular highway types, while lesser used types are grouped in an "other" category.Zoom in to large scales (e.g. Streets level or 1:20k scale) to see the highway features display. You can click on a feature to get the name of the highway (if available). The name of the highway will display by default at large scales (e.g. Street level of 1:5k scale). Labels can be turned off in your map if you prefer.Create New LayerIf you would like to create a more focused version of this highway layer displaying just one or two highway types, you can do that easily! Just add the layer to a map, copy the layer in the content window, add a filter to the new layer (e.g. highway is path), rename the layer as appropriate, and save layer. You can also change the layer symbols or popup if you like. Esri may publish a few such layers (e.g. cycleway and pedestrian) that are ready to use, but not for every type of highway.Important Note: if you do create a new layer, it should be provided under the same Terms of Use and include the same Credits as this layer.     These Log Transfer Facility (LTF) sites support the transfer of logs from the road system to offshore locations in the lower-48 or points abroad. These sites are permitted through the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Permits on all sites are current as of November 23, 2020. Historic LTF's or those no longer under permit will not appear here. Those can be found through ArcGIS online using keywords Alaska LTF or Log Transfer Facilities. That dataset is managed by the U.S. Forest Service.

    Description

    This ArcGIS Online hosted feature service displays perimeters from the National Incident Feature Service (NIFS) that meet ALL of the following criteria:

    • FeatureCategory = 'Wildfire Daily Fire Perimeter'
    • IsVisible = 'Yes'
    • FeatureAccess = 'Public'
    • FeatureStatus = 'Approved'.

    This dataset is made up of current, active wildfires. On a weekly basis, fires meeting specific criteria are removed from the source service. After removal, those perimeters can be found in the associated "Archived Wildfire Perimeters" service. Criteria include:
    • Perimeters are identified with an IRWIN ID that has non-null values in IRWIN for ContainmentDateTime, ControlDateTime, or FireOutDateTime
    • The most recent controlled/contained/fire out date is greater than 14 days old
    • No IRWIN ID
    • Last edit (based on DateCurrent) is greater than 30 days old
    This hosted feature service is not "live", but is updated every 5 minutes to reflect changes to perimeters posted to the National Incident Feature Service. It is updated from operational data and may not reflect current conditions on the ground. Not all data are editable through this service and delete is disabled. To delete features, open in ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap.

    Mosaics are published as ArcGIS image serviceswhich circumvent the need to download or order data. GEO-IDS image services are different from standard web services as they provide access to the raw imagery data. This enhances user experiences by allowing for user driven dynamic area of interest image display enhancement, raw data querying through tools such as the ArcPro information tool, full geospatial analysis, and automation through scripting tools such as ArcPy.Image services are best accessed through the ArcGIS REST APIand REST endpoints (URL's). You can copy the OPS ArcGIS REST API link below into a web browser to gain access to a directory containing all OPS image services. Individual services can be added into ArcPro for display and analysis by using Add Data -> Add Data From Path and copying one of the image service ArcGIS REST endpoint below into the resultant text box. They can also be accessed by setting up an ArcGIS server connectionin ESRI software using the ArcGIS Image Server REST endpoint/URL. Services can also be accessed in open-source software. For example, in QGIS you can right click on the type of service you want to add in the browser pane (e.g., ArcGIS REST Server, WCS, WMS/WMTS) and copy and paste the appropriate URL below into the resultant popup window. The GPS data were analyzed using the Brownian Bridge Movement Model (BBMM), which produced polygons based on an animal’s movement path from data recorded at brief intervals. This model understands that location points are connected to each other in time. Every animal has its own footprint of its migration. Each animal’s averaged footprint is combined into one layer. Corridor level of use types are combined and clipped into one dataset and the level of use is classified:Low use: 0 - 25% of the populationMedium use: 25 - 75% of the populationHigh Use: > 75% of the population (after Sawyer and others, 2009)Stopovers are extracted from the combined footprints and defined as the top 10% of the values.     This map shows the relationship between Federal payments toward conservation and wetlands and payments toward producers not including conservation/wetlands. The data is produced by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA).Areas in yellow show where there are high amounts of Federal payments toward Conservation in comparison to other types, whereas areas in light blue have a higher amount of Federal payments toward all other agriculture in comparison to Conservation. Areas in black have an overall high amount of both types of payments. The map uses size to emphasize which counties received the overall largest receipts in US dollars.In 2017, the average farm received an average of $13,906, and conservation/wetland programs received and average of $6,980. These are the central colors of the map in order to anchor the map around the national figure. Areas with a pattern above or below the national average are highlighted by the colors along the edges of the legend (mentioned in the previous paragraph).     This feature layer, Appalachian Raptors Migration Corridor & Habitat, contains geometry and attribute data for bird migration areas and national forest boundaries. This data originates with the American Bird Conservancy (ABC).Source and date:The data was extracted from a feature layer displayed in the American Bird Conservancy’s Wind Risk Assessment Map. Obtained August 2020.The source for ABC’s creation of this map is written in the map details:Bird area boundaries are derived from existing federal, or other, GIS layers, or produced by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) using the best available data, maps, and expert staff opinion. At present, insufficient quantitative data exist to establish firm boundaries for most migration corridors, and boundaries may also shift from year to year depending on weather and other conditions. The boundaries of these areas are based on ABC’s expert judgment on where the greatest concentration of birds will be present during regular migration periods.Purpose:This source was created to show the areas where various birds are known to fly and national forests that serve as important bird areas. The ABC designed this map, which highlights areas that should be avoided to protect birds, for wind energy developers to use as a resource.     Description

    Statewide 2016 Lidar points colorized with 2018 NAIP imagery as a scene created by Esri using ArcGIS Pro for the entire State of Connecticut. This service provides the colorized Lidar point in interactive 3D for visualization, interaction of the ability to make measurements without downloading.Lidar is referenced at https://cteco.uconn.edu/data/lidar/ and can be downloaded at https://cteco.uconn.edu/data/download/flight2016/. Metadata: https://cteco.uconn.edu/data/flight2016/info.htm#metadata. The Connecticut 2016 Lidar was captured between March 11, 2016 and April 16, 2016. Is covers 5,240 sq miles and is divided into 23, 381 tiles. It was acquired by the Captiol Region Council of Governments with funding from multiple state agencies. It was flown and processed by Sanborn. The delivery included classified point clouds and 1 meter QL2 DEMs. The 2016 Lidar is published on the Connecticut Environmental Conditions Online (CT ECO) website. CT ECO is the collaborative work of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the University of Connecticut Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) to share environmental and natural resource information with the general public. CT ECO's mission is to encourage, support, and promote informed land use and development decisions in Connecticut by providing local, state and federal agencies, and the public with convenient access to the most up-to-date and complete natural resource information available statewide.Process used:Extract Building Footprints from Lidar1. Prepare Lidar - Download 2016 Lidar from CT ECO- Create LAS Dataset2. Extract Building Footprints from LidarUse the LAS Dataset in the Classify Las Building Tool in ArcGIS Pro 2.4.Colorize LidarColorizing the Lidar points means that each point in the point cloud is given a color based on the imagery color value at that exact location.1. Prepare Imagery- Acquire 2018 NAIP tif tiles from UConn (originally from USDA NRCS).- Create mosaic dataset of the NAIP imagery.2. Prepare and Analyze Lidar Points- Change the coordinate system of each of the lidar tiles to the Projected Coordinate System CT NAD 83 (2011) Feet (EPSG 6434).     This map used in this dashboard summarizes payments made to producers by the Federal government from the 2017 Census of Agriculture at the county level.It is consumed in a corresponding dashboard for quick statistics about the counties receiving the highest federal payments. The Census of Agriculture, produced by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA), provides a complete count of America's farms, ranches and the people who grow our food. The census is conducted every five years, most recently in 2017, and provides a in-depth look at the agricultural industry.The layer was produced from data downloaded using the USDA's QuickStats Application. The data was transformed using the Pivot Table tool in ArcGIS Pro and joined to the county boundary file provided by the USDA.     Bucknell's summer 2015 "New Orleans in 12 Movements" course aims to help students view New Orleans' natural environment, built infrastructure, and human experience in an integrated way. The course is co-taught by faculty from 3 departments and includes a week of field work in New Orleans. In this course, students will develop an integrated, holistic understanding of how the city of New Orleans has evolved over time. To support this learning, students have been provided an ArcGIS Online web-based map containing key cultural and historic information about New Orleans selected by their instructors. This interactive tool will enable them to explore New Orleans’ natural environment, built infrastructure and human experience through a variety of lenses. Faculty will use the map to deliver presentations and course materials to students.     Urban Tree Canopy Assessment. This was created using the Urban Tree Canopy Syracuse 2010 (All Layers) file HERE.The data for this map was created using LIDAR and other spatial analysis tools to identify and measure tree canopy in the landscape. This was a collaboration between the US Forest Service Northern Research Station (USFS), the University of Vermont Spatial Laboratory, and SUNY ESF. Because the full map is too large to be viewed in ArcGIS Online, this has been reduced to a vector tile layer to allow it to be viewed online. This feature layer provides access to OpenStreetMap (OSM) highways data for Central America and Caribbean, which is updated every 5 minutes with the latest edits. This hosted feature layer view is referencing a hosted feature layer of OSM line (way) data in ArcGIS Online that is updated with minutely diffs from the OSM planet file. This feature layer view includes highway features defined as a query against the hosted feature layer (i.e. highway is not blank).In OSM, a highway describes any kind of motorway, road, street or path. These features are identified with a highway tag. There are hundreds of different tag values for highway used in the OSM database. In this feature layer, unique symbols are used for several of the most popular highway types, while lesser used types are grouped in an "other" category.Zoom in to large scales (e.g. Streets level or 1:20k scale) to see the highway features display. You can click on a feature to get the name of the highway (if available). The name of the highway will display by default at large scales (e.g. Street level of 1:5k scale). Labels can be turned off in your map if you prefer.Create New LayerIf you would like to create a more focused version of this highway layer displaying just one or two highway types, you can do that easily! Just add the layer to a map, copy the layer in the content window, add a filter to the new layer (e.g. highway is path), rename the layer as appropriate, and save layer. You can also change the layer symbols or popup if you like. Esri may publish a few such layers (e.g. cycleway and pedestrian) that are ready to use, but not for every type of highway.Important Note: if you do create a new layer, it should be provided under the same Terms of Use and include the same Credits as this layer.
