The three types of Military Training Routes included are Instrument Route (IR), Visual Route (VR) and Slow Route (SR).

Buffers created on 7/1/2022 using the "WIDTH_L" and "WIDTH_R" attributes in the Military Training Routes (MTR) shapefile. Military Training Routes (MTRs) are routes used by military aircraft to maintain proficiency in tactical flying. These routes are usually established below 10,000 feet MSL for operations at speeds in excess of 250 knots. MTRs data is provided as a geospatial vector file formats. MTRs data information is published every eight weeks by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration-Aeronautical Information Services.

(Primary POC: Jenny Marshall, U.S. Third Fleet, (619)767-4210, Secondary POC: Michael Huber, Navy Region Southwest, (619)532-2303)Data was acquired from the Navy and modified for use in the San Diego Ocean Planning Partnership, a collaborative pilot between the California State Lands Commission and the Port of San Diego. Modification of the original dataset included elimination of features outside the extent of the Ocean Planning effort and/or which were not applicable, reprojecting the data for use in the ocean planning mapping application, updating attribute information, and updating metadata.
