According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, the United States housed the highest number of billionaires worldwide in 2025. In detail, there were *** billionaires living in the United States as of January that year. By comparison, *** billionaires resided in China. India, the United Kingdom, and Germany were also the homes of a significant number of billionaires that year. United States has regained its first place As the founder and exporter of consumer capitalism, it is no surprise that the United States is home to a large number of billionaires. Although China had briefly overtaken the U.S. in recent years, the United States has reclaimed its position as the country with the most billionaires in the world. Moreover, North America leads the way in terms of the highest number of ultra high net worth individuals – those with a net worth of more than ***** million U.S. dollars. The prominence of Europe and North America is a reflection of the higher degree of economic development in those states. However, this may also change as China and other emerging economies continue developing. Female billionaires Moreover, the small proportion of female billionaires does little to counter critics claiming the global economy is dominated by an elite comprised mainly of men. On the list of the 20 richest people in the world, only one was a woman. Moreover, recent political discourse has put a great amount of attention on the wealth held by the super-rich with the wealth distribution of the global population being heavily unequal.

Millionaire Statistics: A growing number of individuals are becoming millionaires across the globe due to economic growth, an increase in stock markets, and entrepreneurial ventures. Studies show that by the year 2024, the population of millionaires and born and bred individuals across the globe will still grow due to the growing concentration of wealth in certain areas and sectors.
An analysis of the statistics on millionaires paints a clear picture of how wealth is being shared among the general populace and the levels of economic oppression in existence, as well as financial matters in the international arena.
This piece demonstrates the situational picture of millionaire statistics in the world, their wealth, their geographical distribution, and projections of their population in the years to come.

This article introduces an original dataset of formal political participation for over 2,000 individuals included in the Forbes Billionaires List. We find that billionaire politicians are a surprisingly common phenomenon: Over 11% of the world’s billionaires have held or sought political office. Even compared to other elite groups known for producing politicians from their ranks, this is a high rate of political participation. Moreover, billionaires focus their political ambitions on influential positions, have a strong track record of winning elections, and lean to the right ideologically. We also document substantial cross-national variation: A country’s number of billionaire politicians is not simply a product of its total number of billionaires but is instead related to regime type. Indeed, billionaires formally enter the political sphere at a much higher rate in autocracies than in democracies. We conclude by discussing the normative implications of our findings and outlining a new research agenda on billionaire politicians.

Who are the world's wealthiest individuals and where are they of 2018?
Based on the annual ranking of the individual fortunes in the world with a net worth above $1 billion compiled by Forbes magazine for 2018, I have created this dataset. It contains information about their citizenship and residence, as well as their age and of course net worth (in $ billions).
Between 2020 and 2025, Bernard Arnault's fortune grew by around 134 percent, representing the largest growth rate among the ten richest people in France. Out of the top 10, Francois Pinault was the only billionaire who saw his fortune decrease, going from 27 billion in 2020 to 21.7 billion in 2025. Record wealth growth for French billionaires In 2023, there were 980 billionaires in Europe, among whom 72 in France, and 44 in the capital. In 2025, Bernard Arnault was the fifth richest man in the world. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the luxury magnate, whose group LVMH includes brands such as Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Dior, could spend a dollar a second (without increasing his wealth, and in the absence of inflation or deflation) that his fortune would still last him more than five millennia. The second wealthiest woman in the world was French: between 2020 and 2025, the fortune of Françoise Bettencourt Meyers grew almost 70 percent. Moreover, in 2021, the top five French family-owned groups listed on the CAC40 received around five billion euros in dividends, and almost half of these profits went to the Arnault family. CAC40 companies' CEOs seem unaffected by crises The annual remuneration of CAC40 CEOs has reached new heights in 2021. Indeed, while inflation and prices are rising, affecting the most modest households, the average annual remuneration of the CEOs of CAC40 companies has increased by more than two million euros between 2020 and 2021, reaching 6.6 million euros. The best paid CAC40 CEOs that year were those of Dassault Système (44.1 million euros), Téléperformance (19.6 million euros), and Stellantis (19.2 million euros). Conversely, heads of groups in which the French government is a shareholder (Safran, Thalès, Orange) were those whose remuneration was the lowest, although at quite comfortable levels, ranging from two to three million euros per year. A growing gap with employee compensation While CAC40 companies experienced historic profits in 2021 and 2022, spending per employee remains low in many groups, and the ratio between average CEO pay and average spending per employee is increasing. Indeed, in 2021, CEO pay was on average 139 times that of an employee, compared to 115 in 2020, and 108 in 2018. In other words, an employee had to work an average of 139 days to earn what their CEO earned in one day. The groups with the lowest spending per employee were Stellantis, Dassault Systemes, and especially Teleperformance: an employee at this company had to work an average of five years to make their CEO's daily salary.
