    Description

    Update Frequency: Daily

Master Property Record, or MPROP as it is commonly called, is a table containing a assessment record for each property in the city. It contains more than 90 elements of data describing each of the approximately 160,000 properties in the city. The file was created in 1975 to provide current and accurate property information with enough flexibility to be accessed in a variety of ways. Since it was implemented and made available, the data has become invaluable and is currently used by nearly every city department. This same data is now being broadly distributed in a format that is compatible with commonly available computer equipment and operating systems.

    • NOTE: information on properties that are not assessed by the City of Milwaukee (manufacturing and tax exempt properties including city owned real estate) is limited and not maintained.

    Measurement technique
To measure the rank and respective trends, we initially gathered data from the five most recent American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. We then analyzed and categorized the data for each of the racial categories identified by the U.S. Census Bureau. Based on the required racial category classification, we calculated the rank. For geographies with no population reported for the chosen race, we did not assign a rank and excluded them from the list. It is possible that a small population exists but was not reported or captured due to limitations or variations in Census data collection and reporting. We ensured that the population estimates used in this dataset pertain exclusively to the identified racial categories and do not rely on any ethnicity classification, unless explicitly required. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

Based on our analysis ACS 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates, we present the following observations: - All workers, aged 15 years and older: In South Milwaukee, the median income for all workers aged 15 years and older, regardless of work hours, was $46,079 for males and $35,582 for females.

These income figures indicate a substantial gender-based pay disparity, showcasing a gap of approximately 23% between the median incomes of males and females in South Milwaukee. With women, regardless of work hours, earning 77 cents to each dollar earned by men, this income disparity reveals a concerning trend toward wage inequality that demands attention in thecity of South Milwaukee.

    - Full-time workers, aged 15 years and older: In South Milwaukee, among full-time, year-round workers aged 15 years and older, males earned a median income of $59,287, while females earned $51,500, resulting in a 13% gender pay gap among full-time workers. This illustrates that women earn 87 cents for each dollar earned by men in full-time positions. While this gap shows a trend where women are inching closer to wage parity with men, it also exhibits a noticeable income difference for women working full-time in the city of South Milwaukee.

Interestingly, when analyzing income across all roles, including non-full-time employment, the gender pay gap percentage was higher for women compared to men. It appears that full-time employment presents a more favorable income scenario for women compared to other employment patterns in South Milwaukee.
