These files contain the City of Milwaukee parcel polygons.

Historical parcel shapefiles for the City of Milwaukee are available for download here, in ESRI shapefile format, back to 2001. We do not have parcel shapefiles for years before 2001.

Starting in December, 2011, we will begin posting end-of-year snapshots of our parcel shapefiles. This will provide greater accuracy when joining MPROP to parcels (relate key = TAXKEY). For years before 2011, parcel shapefiles and MPROP will join will less accuracy, as taxkeys are added and removed throughout the year.

Starting in 2009, parcel shapefiles have a record for every taxkey - including every condominium unit. The shapefiles dated earlier than 2009 do not accommodate the many-to-one nature of condominiums, and MPROP will not join to the condominium parcels.

All shapefiles are projected in Wisconsin State Plane South NAD27 (WKID 32054)

Milwaukee County Sheriff real estate sales that occurred within one year of the date shown in the 'DATE_MCLIO' field, including future sales. Includes one parcel polygon per Sheriff Sale record that could be associated with MCLIO parcel geometries based on matching parcel ID values. Master Property Record, or MPROP as it is commonly called, is a table containing a assessment record for each property in the city. It contains more than 90 elements of data describing each of the approximately 160,000 properties in the city. The file was created in 1975 to provide current and accurate property information with enough flexibility to be accessed in a variety of ways. Since it was implemented and made available, the data has become invaluable and is currently used by nearly every city department. This same data is now being broadly distributed in a format that is compatible with commonly available computer equipment and operating systems.

• NOTE: information on properties that are not assessed by the City of Milwaukee (manufacturing and tax exempt properties including city owned real estate) is limited and not maintained.

The data is sorted by tax account number by levy year. This allows multiple, delinquent levy year tax accounts for a single parcel to be listed contiguously. The full payment amount due on a delinquent real estate tax account will always include accrued tax interest and penalty charges, but may also include accrued judgment interest where a judgment has been taken. 70.03 Definition of real property. (1) In chs. 70 to 76, 78,and 79, “real property,” “real estate,” and “land” include not only the land itself but all buildings and improvements thereon, and all fixtures and rights and privileges appertaining thereto, except as provided in sub. (2) and except that for the purpose of time−share property, as defined in s. 707.02 (32), real property does not include recurrent exclusive use and occupancy on a periodic basis or other rights, including, but not limited to, membership rights, vacation services, and club memberships. (2) “Real property” and “real estate” do not include any permit or license required to place, operate, or maintain at a specific location one or more articles of personal property described under s. 70.04 (3) or any value associated with the permit or license.

This resource is a member of a series. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The All Roads Shapefile includes all features within the MTDB Super Class "Road/Path Features" distinguished where the MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) for the feature in MTDB that begins with "S". This includes all primary, secondary, local neighborhood, and rural roads, city streets, vehicular trails (4wd), ramps, service drives, alleys, parking lot roads, private roads for service vehicles (logging, oil fields, ranches, etc.), bike paths or trails, bridle/horse paths, walkways/pedestrian trails, and stairways.

Points that represent locations of addresses. The points are placed within the parcel with which an address is associated and when possible, points are placed within the footprint of the building with which an address is associated. When a parcel or building is associated with multiple addresses, multiple points will be placed within each parcel or building. This layer includes keys that relate to related street centerlines, addressable building polygons, and parcel polygons. Permits issued by the Department of Buildings in the City of Chicago from 2006 to the present. The dataset for each year contains more than 65,000 records/rows of data and cannot be viewed in full in Microsoft Excel. Therefore, when downloading the file, select CSV from the Export menu. Open the file in an ASCII text editor, such as Wordpad, to view and search. Data fields requiring description are detailed below. PERMIT TYPE: "New Construction and Renovation" includes new projects or rehabilitations of existing buildings; "Other Construction" includes items that require plans such as cell towers and cranes; "Easy Permit" includes minor repairs that require no plans; "Wrecking/Demolition" includes private demolition of buildings and other structures; "Electrical Wiring" includes major and minor electrical work both permanent and temporary; "Sign Permit" includes signs, canopies and awnings both on private property and over the public way; "Porch Permit" includes new porch construction and renovation (defunct permit type porches are now issued under "New Construction and Renovation" directly); "Reinstate Permit" includes original permit reinstatements; "Extension Permits" includes extension of original permit when construction has not started within six months of original permit issuance. WORK DESCRIPTION: The description of work being done on the issued permit, which is printed on the permit. PIN1 – PIN10: A maximum of ten assessor parcel index numbers belonging to the permitted property. PINs are provided by the customer seeking the permit since mid-2008 where required by the Cook County Assessor’s Office. CONTRACTOR INFORMATION: The contractor type, name, and contact information. Data includes up to 15 different contractors per permit if applicable.
