This layer contains 2024 parcel data only for NY State counties which gave NYS ITs Geospatatial Services permission to share this data with the public. Work to obtain parcel data from additional counties, as well as permission to share the data, is ongoing. To date, 36 counties have provided the Geospatial Services permission to share their parcel data with the public. Parcel data for counties which do not allow the Geospatial Services to redistribute their data must be obtained directly from those counties. Geospatial Services' goal is to eventually include parcel data for all counties in New York State.
Parcel geometry was incorporated as received from County Real Property Departments. No attempt was made to edge-match parcels along adjacent counties. County attribute values were populated using 2024 Assessment Roll tabular data Geospatial Services obtained from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance’s Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS). Tabular assessment data was joined to the county provided parcel geometry using the SWIS & SBL or SWIS & PRINT KEY unique identifier for each parcel.

The County's Water and Sewer Plan assigns a water category and a sewer category to every property in the County. These service area categories serve two functions:They identify areas approved or planned for community water or sewer service and areas intended for service by individual (on-site) systemsThey identify a mechanism for staging community service for those areas planned for community service. The mechanism consists of the use of service area categories W-1 through W- 5 (for water) and S-1 through S-5 (for sewer).The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) requires the County to prepare a comprehensive update of the Water and Sewer Plan every three years. Between comprehensive updates, the County approves amendments to the plan (such as service area categories, new or revised policies, and technical information) through procedures described in Chapter 1 of the Plan. The County Executive, acting through the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), prepares the Plan's comprehensive updates and also provides recommendations to the Council for action on proposed amendments. DEP, with the assistance of other agencies, develops some amendments, typically those that involve policy issues or category changes that affect groups of properties. Property owners also propose amendments, usually those involving category changes for single properties or larger tracts intended for subdivision of new lots. Under state law, the County Council is responsible for approving the plan and its amendments. MDE maintains an oversight authority over the County’s Water and Sewer Plan and its amendments. The agency administers regulations that each county must follow in the preparation of its comprehensive plan, and acts to approve, approve with modifications, or disapprove the Plan or any Plan amendment submitted by the County. Forest conservation easements protect land for existing and future forests by limiting certain activities. A forest conservation easement is a perpetual property right granted to the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission that runs with the title of the land. Its terms, conditions, and area (shown on a record plat or recorded by a metes and bounds description), are recorded in the County’s land records. Most commonly, the agreement prohibits removing vegetation or changing the natural character of the land without written permission from Montgomery Planning. Forest conservation easements cover forest retention or planting areas and unforested high priority areas, all of which are identified on a forest conservation plan. To date, the county has protected over 10,500 acres – approximately 3.5 percent of the county – through more than 3,500 forest conservation easements. Category I easements are the most protective type. They prohibit clearing of any tree, bush, or vegetation. They prohibit construction, paving or grading of the ground. They also prohibit the dumping of unsightly materials (trash, ash, non-biodegradable materials, etc). Diseased or hazardous trees or tree limbs may be removed to prevent possible property damage or personal injury, but only after a reasonable notice is given to the Planning Board. Category I easements do not prohibit entry into the easement; homeowners are allowed access in and out of the easement, but they are not allowed to alter the natural landscape. The standard Category I legal description is available to view at the County Circuit Court Land Records Department under Liber 13178 Folio 412. Not all Category I easements are placed over existing forest. The purpose of a Category I easement is to preserve and protect existing and future forest. In some cases, through the development process, it may be determined that a developer needs to meet their forest mitigation requirements through on-site or off-site planting. In these cases, an easement will be placed over land that isn’t currently forested. These areas are typically adjacent to existing forest, stream valleys, or other areas that can be enhanced by additional forest cover. Maintenance is required, such as mowing once or twice a year to keep weeds in check until the trees are large enough to shade them out. If there are no suitable areas on the property being developed, an option for developers is to select an offsite location for protection. These easement areas can include both retention of existing forest and planting of new forest. Alternatively, developers can opt to buy into forest mitigation banks, which can involve retention of existing forest or planting of new forest at the bank location. Category II/Tree Save easements are typically placed over an area that is not forest, but features large specimen trees that are desired to remain. In a Category II easement area, activities such as mowing and clearing of understory are allowed, provided they do not damage or kill the large trees covered by the easement. Similar to Category I easements, activities such as construction, paving and grading of land are prohibited. These easements are extremely important in protecting large trees that may not be inside forest area. The standard Category II legal description is available to view at the County Circuit Court Land Records Department under Liber 13178 Folio 421. Other types of Forest Conservation Easements also protect forest and natural features throughout the county. These easements were created prior to the enactment of the Forest Conservation Law in 1992. As a part of development, conservation easements were often required over sensitive natural land. Unlike standard Category I and II Conservation easements, these easements typically have varying allowances regarding the forest on a property. The language of some of them can be more protective than others, so each easement should be taken at a case-by-case basis. These parcel polygon features were adjusted based on aerial photography dated April 7, 1993, and road centerlines, right-of-way lines and other physical features generated from the same photography. While the imagery has a pixel resolution of 1.5 square feet, a positional accuracy of +/- 5 feet and is designed for use at a scale of 1 inch = 200 feet, the resulting PARCELS horizontal accuracy varies from reasonably accurate in the best cases to less accurate in the worst cases. Subsequent and current map update processes include metes and bounds entry from subdivision and deed information, as well as property corner locations based on GPS points and the utilization of our newest imagery datasets. While the update processes include more accurate methods, the resultant overall accuracy is still dependent on the surrounding parcel fabric's varied accuracy. The address service contains statewide address points and related landmark name alias table and street name alias table.The New Jersey Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (NJOGIS), in partnership with several local GIS and public safety agencies, has built a comprehensive statewide NG9-1-1 database meeting and exceeding the requirements of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 2018 NG9-1-1 GIS Data Standard (NENA-STA-006.1-2018). The existing New Jersey Statewide Address Point data last published in 2016 has been transformed in the NENA data model to create this new address point data.The initial address points were processed from statewide parcel records joined with the statewide Tax Assessor's (MOD-IV) database in 2015. Address points supplied by Monmouth County, Sussex County, Morris County and Montgomery Township in Somerset County were incorporated into the statewide address points using customized Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) procedures.The previous version of the address points was loaded into New Jersey's version of the NENA NG9-1-1 data model using Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) procedures created with Esri's Data Interoperability Extension.
