Individuals or small groups usually commit homicide, whereas killing in armed conflict is usually committed by fairly cohesive groups of up to several hundred members and is thus usually excluded.

The Crime statistics datasets contain all offences against the person and property that were reported to police in that respective financial year. The Family and Domestic Abuse-related offences datasets are a subset of this, in that a separate file is presented for these offences that were flagged as being of a family and domestic abuse nature for that financial year. Consequently the two files for the same financial year must not be added together.

In 2023, around 1,179 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants have been reported in Taiwan. The crime rate in Taiwan increased from 1,139 incidents per 100,000 people in the previous year. Crime in Taiwan Over the last decade, the crime rate in Taiwan dropped significantly from 1,972 reported incidents per 100,000 inhabitants in 2008 to only 1,281 in 2013. In the following years, that downtrend weakened, but figures generally kept on decreasing. Compared to other countries, these numbers are in a medium range. Reported crimes per inhabitants in the United States, for example, were more than double that of Taiwan, although the crime rates in different states in the United States varied considerably. On the contrary, the crime rate in Singapore was only half as high as in Taiwan. However, it should be kept in mind that the definition of crime, the willingness to report crimes, and accounting measures may vary in different countries. Most common crimes in Taiwan Considering different types of crimes committed in Taiwan, excluding offenses against public safety, the most common crimes were drug and theft related. In contrast, the number of cases of murder and manslaughter were relatively low and comparable to other Asia Pacific countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. This is also due to the crime-clearing rate in Taiwan having improved considerably over the years and reached 97.1 percent in 2023.

    Description

The global cybersecurity market size is forecast to grow to 538.3 billion U.S. dollars by 2030. Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer information systems, hardware, network, and data from cyberattacks. An increasing awareness of cyber threats lead to a rising investment in cybersecurity infrastructure worldwide.

    Cyberattacks

In the modern information age when more and more things are getting connected, cybersecurity becomes an ever-relevant topic. Major data breaches, such as the 2014 hacking of Yahoo’s online platform, saw hundreds of millions of accounts being affected. Today, potentially AI-enabled phishing and network intrusion are some of the most common cyberattacks experienced by organizations, causing serious damages including information or revenue loss.

    Market segments

The information security market includes subsegments such as identity access management (IAM), infrastructure protection, and security services. Global security spending on IAM is forecasted to reach over 20 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. Spending on security services, the largest segment of the information security market, is projected to reach nearly 76.5 billion U.S. dollars in the same year.

    Description

The rate of civilians killed by police in the Venezuela is far higher than in comparable developed democratic countries, with 1,830 people killed by police per 10 million residents in 2025. This compares to 69 deaths per 10 million residents in Canada, and seven in Australia - perhaps the two most comparable countries to the United States in many respects. Country with the most prisoners The El Salvador is the country with the largest number of prisoners per capita. This suggests either that they have the most criminals, or that the police make more arrests and judges hand down jail as a more frequent punishment. Costa Rica has the highest burglary rate, seeing almost three times as many break-ins as in the United States, for example. Does weapon ownership contribute to higher number of violent attacks? Other factors may also be at play. One such factor may be gun ownership. If police shootings are more likely to happen in states with a higher number of registered weapons, one could argue that the threat of violence against police makes officers more likely to utilize deadly force. However, countries like Canada also have a high number of individual firearms licenses, indicating that this factor likely does not explain the entire effect. Social factors may also influence this statistic, such as the use of the death penalty. Still, each fatal incident is complex, and the full situation surrounding each involves many factors, meaning that a simple solution is unlikely.
