    Description

Immigration was seen by 58 percent of people in the UK as one of the top three issues facing the country in September 2025. The economy was the second-most important issue for voters this month, ahead of health as a distant third. These three issues have consistently been identified as the most important issues for voters. Labour's popularity continues to sink in 2025 Despite winning the 2024 general election with a strong majority, the new Labour government has had its share of struggles since coming to power. Shortly after taking office, the approval rating for Labour stood at -2 percent, but this fell throughout the second half of 2024, and by January 2025 had sunk to a new low of -47 percent. Although this was still higher than the previous government's last approval rating of -56 percent, it is nevertheless a severe review from the electorate. Among several decisions from the government, arguably the least popular was the government withdrawing winter fuel payments. This state benefit, previously paid to all pensioners, is now only paid to those on low incomes, with millions of pensioners not receiving this payment in winter 2024. Sunak's pledges fail to prevent defeat in 2024 With an election on the horizon, and the Labour Party consistently ahead in the polls, addressing voter concerns directly was one of the best chances the Conservatives had of staying in power in 2023. At the start of that year, Rishi Sunak attempted to do this by setting out his five pledges for the next twelve months; halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce national debt, cut NHS waiting times, and stop small boats. A year later, Sunak had at best only partial success in these aims. Although the inflation rate fell, economic growth was weak and even declined in the last two quarters of 2023, although it did return to growth in early 2024. National debt was only expected to fall in the mid to late 2020s, while the trend of increasing NHS waiting times did not reverse. Small boat crossings were down from 2022, but still higher than in 2021 or 2020. .

    Description

The short survey on current issues relating to government spending and public debt was conducted by the opinion research institute forsa on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. In the survey period from 18.03.2024 to 20.03.2024, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over was asked in telephone interviews (CATI) about their attitudes to government spending and government debt. In particular, the focus is on the assessment of the debt brake and various options for reforming it. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey (policy BUS) including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample). Assessment of Germany´s overall financial situation in terms of income and expenditure; assessment of Germany´s debt burden compared to most other industrialized countries; opinion on government debt (government debt should generally be avoided, is generally not a problem, only makes sense if it is used for investments for the future); government spends too much vs. too little money on various political and social tasks (health and care, defense, social affairs, climate protection, housing, integration of immigrants, pensions); opinion on the state only taking out new larger loans in exceptional emergency situations such as natural disasters (debt brake should remain as it is, it should be reformed or it should be abolished completely); evaluation of various proposals for reforming the debt regulation (change the debt limit so that the state can generally take on more debt than before, create a transitional rule so that even in the year following an emergency situation it is still possible to take on slightly more debt than usual, allow higher debt to be taken on if the economic situation is worse than expected, allow higher debt to be taken on for defense spending, allow higher debt to be taken on for investments in climate protection, allow higher debt to be taken on for investments in infrastructure such as roads and railways). Demography: sex; age; education; income level low, medium, high (net equivalent income); city size; party preference in the next federal election; voting behavior in the last federal election. Additionally coded were: Respondent ID; region west/east; weighting factor.

    Description

The Citizens' Pulse surveys examine Finnish attitudes and opinions on current issues. Main themes in the surveys include the activity of authorities, future expectations, trust, and the respondents' own state of mind. This collection round also included questions on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, physical activities and issues that the Finnish government should address. The fourth collection round of 2024 surveyed the respondents' satisfaction with the state of democracy in Finland, as well as their trust in various institutions (e.g. the Finnish Government, the health care system, the media, and the Finnish Defence Forces). The respondents were asked to evaluate how fair or unfair they thought Finnish society was at present, and their state of mind was examined with questions on various matters relating to well-being. The questions covered, for example, the respondents' own mental well-being, whether they were worried about the adequacy of their income, their confidence in their future, and experiences of stress. Additionally, the respondents were asked to evaluate whether an atmosphere of crisis prevailed amongst Finns and whether they were worried about the state of general government finances (state and municipalities). The respondents' views were investigated on which societal issues (e.g. promotion of climate action, national defence, poverty reduction, effective healthcare, operating conditions of businesses and investment opportunities) the Finnish government should focus on in the near future. Opinions on whether Finland's national debt should be reduced regardless of the resulting cuts in benefits and welfare it would entail for Finnish citizens and whether social security cuts can be considered acceptable if they provide an incentive to take up work and increase employment were also surveyed. The respondents' views on the right to seek asylum in Finland were also charted. The next set of questions focused on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and national security in Finland. The respondents were asked how concerned they were about the crisis in Ukraine and its effects, and whether they were concerned that the war might expand beyond Ukraine. The respondents were also asked whether they were concerned that Russia might take military action against Finland or try to interfere with the functioning of Finnish society. Opinions on the economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU and whether Finland should be ready to receive significant numbers of refugees from Ukraine if necessary were charted. The respondents were asked whether Finland's actions on the border with Russia had reinforced their sense security, whether Finland's response to Russian interference has been adequate and timely, and whether the respondents were concerned about Russia's recent actions. Additionally, the respondents were also asked whether they had noticed any cyber security issues or instances where purposefully misleading claims based on misinformation were spread on social media or online over the previous month. Voting intentions in the 2024 european parliament election (european elections) in Finland were surveyed by asking the respondents whether they intended to vote in the election, whether they intended to vote during the early voting period or on election day, and whether they felt that by voting they could have an impact on matters that were important to them and the people close to them. Finally, the respondents were asked whether they had been exercising according to the physical activity recommendations in Finland for the past six months and whether they had changed their physical activity behaviour. Background variables included the language responded in, the respondent's gender, age group, NUTS3 region of residence, highest level of education, household composition, and perceived financial situation of household.

Market Dynamics of Food and Beverage Market

Key Drivers of Food and Beverage Market

Rising Global Population to Increase the Demand Globally

The increasing number of people on the planet is driving up demand for food and drink, particularly in developing countries where disposable incomes are rising. There is a proportional increase in the demand for food and drink as more people enter the consumer market. The need for agricultural and food production systems to develop and adapt to satisfy growing demands is highlighted by this trend. Furthermore, it emphasizes how important sustainable practices are to ensuring food security over the long term and reducing environmental impacts. To address these issues and create resilient and equitable food systems that can meet the demands of an expanding population while preserving the planet's resources for future generations, governments, businesses, and communities must work together.

Urbanization and Busy Lifestyles to Propel Market Growth

Convenient, ready-to-eat food and beverages are in high demand due to urbanization and the spread of hectic lives. The need for easy and convenient food options has increased as more people live in cities and manage busy schedules. As a result of this trend, the availability of packaged foods, frozen dinners, and grab-and-go options has increased, appealing to consumers who want convenience without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. With urbanization driven by social and economic considerations, the portable food and beverage product market is expected to grow even further. In response to changing customer tastes, food producers and distributors are coming up with new and inventive ways to provide a wide range of easily accessible products that meet the needs of both busy lifestyles and urban residents.

Restraint Factors of Food and Beverage Market

Rising Food Prices to Limit the Sales

Increased food costs are frequently caused by changes in the price of agricultural commodities, which are made worse by supply chain interruptions and extreme weather. These dynamics, especially for vulnerable people, can substantially impact affordability and consumer purchasing. When staple foods rise in price, households might have to spend more of their income to cover their fundamental nutritional needs, leaving them with less money to spend on other necessities. Furthermore, rising food prices have the potential to worsen food insecurity, increasing the likelihood of poverty and malnourishment in impacted areas. Businesses, civil society, and governments must tackle these issues by strengthening the food systems' resilience, reducing price volatility, and guaranteeing that all societal segments have fair access to reasonably priced and nutrient-dense food.

    Stringent Regulatory and Compliance Requirements

The food and beverage sector faces a complicated array of safety, labeling, packaging, and environmental regulations that differ by area and nation. From the sourcing of ingredients to nutritional information and sustainability requirements, businesses must consistently adjust to changing legal norms. Managing these regulations can heighten operational complexity and compliance expenses, part...

    Description

The short survey on current issues relating to migration / integration was conducted by the Verian opinion research institute on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. During the survey period from 27.02.2024 to 05.03.2024, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over was asked about their attitudes to migration and integration in telephone interviews (CATI). The focus is on attitudes towards refugee issues, immigration in general and the federal government´s immigration policy. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey (Emnid bus), including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample). Agreement with statements on the topic of immigration to Germany (integration of immigrants into German society has been successful overall so far, there are already so many immigrants living in Germany that no more can be taken in, immigrants are causing a very sharp rise in crime in Germany, I think it´s good that Germany is becoming more culturally diverse through immigration, Germany needs immigration); satisfaction with various aspects of the federal government´s immigration policy (dealing with the population´s concerns about immigration, how the objectives and measures of immigration policy are explained to the population, efforts to date to integrate immigrants into the German labor market, efforts to date to find a European solution for immigration to Europe); concerns about current refugee numbers in Germany; short-term and long-term forecast regarding the advantages or disadvantages for Germany of accepting refugees; opinion on rather simplified or rather more difficult immigration regulations for different immigrant groups (refugees from Ukraine, refugees from Syria or Afghanistan, refugees from other countries, skilled workers from non-European countries); assessment of the payment card for refugees instead of cash as useful vs. not useful; perception of problems in connection with refugees in the local area; naming of specific problems (open). Demography: sex; age; education; occupation; household size; number of people in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; voting eligibility; net household income; survey via mobile or landline. Additionally coded: consecutive respondent number; weighting factor; interview date; city size (BIK city size and political city size); federal state; survey area west/east.
