This dataset contains files created, digitized, or georeferenced by Chris DeRolph for mapping the pre-urban renewal community within the boundaries of the Riverfront-Willow St. and Mountain View urban renewal projects in Knoxville TN. Detailed occupant information for properties within boundaries of these two urban renewal projects was extracted from the 1953 Knoxville City Directory. The year 1953 was chosen as a representative snapshot of the Black community before urban renewal projects were implemented. The first urban renewal project to be approved was the Riverfront-Willow Street project, which was approved in 1954 according to the University of Richmond Renewing Inequality project titled ‘Family Displacements through Urban Renewal, 1950-1966’ (link below in the 'Other shapefiles' section). For ArcGIS Online users, the shapefile and tiff layers are available in AGOL and can be found by clicking the ellipsis next to the layer name and selecting 'Show item details' for the layers in this webmap https://knoxatlas.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=43a66c3cfcde4f5f8e7ab13af9bbcebecityDirectory1953 is a folder that contains:JPG images of 1953 City Directory for street segments within the urban renewal project boundaries; The parcels contain selected information such as owner names, property and owner addresses, assessed value, agricultural use, and tax district information that were copied from the Montana Department of Revenue's ORION tax appraisal database. The data are maintained by the MT Department of Revenue, except for Ravalli, Silver Bow, Missoula, Flathead and Yellowstone counties that are maintained by the individual counties. The Revenue and county data are integrated by Montana State Library staff. Each parcel contains an attribute called ParcelID (geocode) that is the parcel identifier. View a pdf map of the counties that were updated this month here: https://ftpgeoinfo.msl.mt.gov/Data/Spatial/MSDI/Cadastral/Parcels/Statewide/MonthlyCadastralUpdateMap.pdf The parcel boundaries were aligned to fit with the Bureau of Land Management Geographic Coordinate Database (GCDB) of public land survey coordinates. Parcels whose legal descriptions consisted of aliquot parts of the public land survey system were created from the GCDB coordinates by selecting and, when necessary, subdividing public land survey entities. Other parcels were digitized from paper maps and the data from each map were transformed to fit with the appropriate GCDB boundaries.

This dataset contains visitor management zones (VMZ) for public conservation land, as defined in the Conservation Management Strategy documents since 2012. The zones attribute public conservation land with a ‘recreation class’ that defines the type of experience the topography and accessibility imply. The visitor management zones are defined for the administrative area that each Conservation Management Strategy is written for. The data is originally based on an implementation of the Recreational Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) model (Taylor, 1993), which incorporates ‘the activity, the setting and the experience’ of an area to produce a classification of the opportunity that the area offers. This data was adapted to form this more applicable, regionally focused visitor management zone dataset. The dataset is primarily for cartographic purposes and should not be used for legal definition. The public conservation land that the visitor management zones are based on are valid as of the date identified in the data. The visitor management zones defined in this dataset need to be taken in context of the relevant Conservation Management Strategy document.
