TwitterThe migration of data to public cloud services continues to evolve, with varying approaches across different data types. A 2025 survey reveals that ** percent of organizations plan to move all their nonsensitive analytics data to cloud or software as a service (SaaS) platforms. However, sensitive information like corporate financial data remains more firmly rooted on-premises, with ** percent of organizations keeping it entirely local. Cloud service market growth The cloud services market is experiencing significant expansion, particularly in infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Forecasts indicate a ** percent growth in IaaS for 2024 compared to 2022, outpacing the overall public cloud services market's expected ** percent growth. Enterprise cloud adoption strategies Organizations are increasingly focused on optimizing their cloud usage, with ** percent of respondents in 2024 prioritizing cost savings in their cloud initiatives. Simultaneously, ** percent are committed to migrating more workloads to the cloud, indicating a continued shift towards cloud-based operations. This strategic approach aligns with the diverse cloud adoption patterns observed across different data types, as companies balance the benefits of cloud services with the need for data security and compliance.

TwitterOn 15 October 2007 the Office For National Statistics (ONS) announced the transfer of construction statistics based in Bristol from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR - formerly the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)) to the ONS, to take place on 1 March 2008. BERR has subsequently merged with the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills to become the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS).
In 2005, following a review, agreement was reached in principle to transfer the then DTI construction statistics’ collections based in Bristol to the ONS, subject to funding being available. During 2007 BERR reached an agreement with the ONS that responsibility for the collection and publication of statistics on construction output and new orders should be transferred to ONS from 1 March 2008. Statistics on both output and new orders are now published on the ONS website and are available at the links below:
The ONS also publishes the http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/publications/all-releases.html?definition=tcm%3A77-21528">Construction Statistics Annual, a publication that brings together a wide range of statistics on the construction industry.
Statisticians in BIS continue to analyse and interpret construction data for policy colleagues within the department and for industry customers.
Responsibility for 6 surveys produced at the Bristol site was transferred to the ONS. Support remains in BIS for briefing on these surveys and on wider construction activity. Other construction statistics survey work is already out-sourced by BIS and management of this remains in BIS.
BIS continue to be responsible for briefing and analysis services to customers in respect of Bristol survey results, as for wider construction activity issues. The resource required to carry this out remains in BIS and ONS provides BIS with the necessary continuing supply of micro-data used by construction statisticians.
ONS have undertaken that there will be no changes in the range and detail of statistics supplied for the construction industry as a result of this transfer. In this way, the transition will be as seamless as possible to users of the data.
The steps in the transfer were as follows:
The transfer of the work included the transfer of all the Bristol construction statistics’ posts and one London statistician post.
During the period from 1 March 2008 to 1 March 2009 the present staff continued to be employed on the data collections at the BERR offices in Bristol.
After the secondment to ONS ended BERR made provision for the staff whose posts had been transferred to ONS but who did not wish to transfer. BERR and ONS worked closely with the unions on all issues prior to the transfer.

TwitterAs of January 2025, three organizations had received fines under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for transferring data outside the European Union. The highest penalty, with the amount of 1.2 billion euros, was imposed on Meta Platforms Ireland Limited by the Irish data privacy authority Data Protection Commission (DPC). The latest case of privacy complaint was on the 16th of January, 2025. In its complaint, the Austrian data privacy non-profit None of Your Business (noyb) addressed the data transfers from European Union by a few Chinese companies, including TikTok, AliExpress, SHEIN, Temu, WeChat, and Xiaomi. As of late January 2025, the case was ongoing and the amount of fine is not available.

TwitterThis annual study provides migration pattern data for the United States by State or by county and are available for inflows (the number of new residents who moved to a State or county and where they migrated from) and outflows (the number of residents who left a State or county and where they moved to). The data include the number of returns filed, number of personal exemptions claimed, total adjusted gross income, and aggregate migration flows at the State level, by the size of adjusted gross income (AGI) and by age of the primary taxpayer. Data are collected and based on year-to-year address changes reported on U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns (Form 1040) filed with the IRS. SOI collects these data as part of its Individual Income Tax Return (Form 1040) Statistics program, Data by Geographic Areas, U.S. Population Migration Data.

TwitterMigration flows are derived from the relationship between the location of current residence in the American Community Survey (ACS) sample and the responses given to the migration question "Where did you live 1 year ago?". There are flow statistics (moved in, moved out, and net moved) between county or minor civil division (MCD) of residence and county, MCD, or world region of residence 1 year ago. Estimates for MCDs are only available for the 12 strong-MCD states, where the MCDs have the same government functions as incorporated places. Migration flows between metropolitan statistical areas are available starting with the 2009-2013 5-year ACS dataset. Flow statistics are available by three or four variables for each dataset starting with the 2006-2010 5-year ACS datasets. The variables change for each dataset and do not repeat in overlapping datasets. In addition to the flow estimates, there are supplemental statistics files that contain migration/geographical mobility estimates (e.g. nonmovers, moved to a different state, moved from abroad) for each county, MCD, or metro area.

TwitterThis data is a breakdown of all the moving violations (tickets) issued in every precinct throughout the city. This data is collected because the City Council passed Local Law #11 in 2011 and required the NYPD to post it.This data is scheduled to run every month by ITB and is posted on the NYPD website. Each record represents a moving violation issued to a motorist by summons type and what precinct it was issued in. This data can be used to see if poor driving in your resident precinct is being enforced. The limitations of the data is that it is just a stick count of violation without any street locations, time of day or day of the week.
