This service provides vector polygon dataset defining the official boundaries of the 100 counties within North Carolina as well as the boundaries between North Carolina and the states which border North Carolina. The North Carolina county polygon boundary service provides location information for North Carolina State and County Boundary lines derived from the best available survey and/or Geographic Information System (GIS) data. Sources for information are the North Carolina Geodetic Survey (NCGS), NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT), United States Geological Survey (USGS), and field surveys conducted by licensed surveyors in North Carolina and neighboring states that have been approved and recorded in their respective counties. Some boundaries cannot be surveyed in cases where boundaries are coincident with river centers. North Carolina Geodetic Survey assists counties on a cooperative basis (NC General Statute 153A-18) in defining and monumenting the location of uncertain or disputed boundaries as established by law. Some counties have completed boundary surveys for at least a portion of their county boundary. However, the majority of county boundaries have not been surveyed and are represented by the best currently available data from GIS sources, including NCDOT county maps (which originally came from the USGS) and updated county parcel maps. This data is updated annually, first quarter (usually in February).MetadataThe metadata for the contained layer of the NCDOT County Boundaries Service is available through the following link:County Boundaries PolygonPoint of Contact North Carolina Department of Information Technology -Transportation, GIS UnitGIS Data and Services ConsultantContact information:gishelp@ncdot.govCentury Center – Building B1020 Birch Ridge DriveRaleigh, NC 27610Hours of service: 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday – FridayContact instructions: Please send an email with any issues, questions, or comments regarding the County Boundaries data. Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. County subdivisions are the primary divisions of counties and their equivalent entities for the reporting of Census Bureau data. They include legally- recognized minor civil divisions (MCDs) and statistical census county divisions (CCDs), and unorganized territories. For the 2010 Census, the MCDs are the primary governmental and/or administrative divisions of counties in 29 States and Puerto Rico; Tennessee changed from having CCDs for Census 2000 to having MCDs for the 2010 Census. In MCD States where no MCD exists or is not defined, the Census Bureau creates statistical unorganized territories to complete coverage. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas are covered by county subdivisions. The boundaries of most legal MCDs are as of January 1, 2019, as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The boundaries of all CCDs, delineated in 20 states, are those as reported as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2010 Census.

    Context

There is no story behind this data.

These are just supplementary datasets which I plan on using for plotting county wise data on maps.. (in particular for using with my kernel : https://www.kaggle.com/stansilas/maps-are-beautiful-unemployment-is-not/)
As that data set didn't have the info I needed for plotting an interactive map using highcharter .

    Content

Since I noticed that most demographic datasets here on Kaggle, either have state code, state name, or county name + state name but not all of it i.e county name, fips code, state name + state code.

Using these two datasets one can get any combination of state county codes etc.

States.csv has State name + code
US counties.csv has county wise data.

    Description

Vector polygon map data of city limits from Houston, Texas containing 731 features.

City limits GIS (Geographic Information System) data provides valuable information about the boundaries of a city, which is crucial for various planning and decision-making processes. Urban planners and government officials use this data to understand the extent of their jurisdiction and to make informed decisions regarding zoning, land use, and infrastructure development within the city limits.

By overlaying city limits GIS data with other layers such as population density, land parcels, and environmental features, planners can analyze spatial patterns and identify areas for growth, conservation, or redevelopment. This data also aids in emergency management by defining the areas of responsibility for different emergency services, helping to streamline response efforts during crises..

This city limits data is available for viewing and sharing as a map in a Koordinates map viewer. This data is also available for export to DWG for CAD, PDF, KML, CSV, and GIS data formats, including Shapefile, MapInfo, and Geodatabase.

You can access the metadata record and other resources on the GIS portal by clicking on the "Explore button (and choosing the "Go to resource" option) to the right of the "ArcGIS Open Dataset" text below.

    Category: Environment

Department: Geographic Information Systems Group; Department of Administrative Services

Development Notes: This data set is a digital soil survey and generally is the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely sensed and other information. This data set consists of georeferenced digital map data and computerized attribute data. The map data are in a soil survey area extent format and include a detailed, field verified inventory of soils and miscellaneous areas that normally occur in a repeatable pattern on the landscape and that can be cartographically shown at the scale mapped. A special soil features layer (point and line features) is optional. This layer displays the location of features too small to delineate at the mapping scale, but they are large enough and contrasting enough to significantly influence use and management. The soil map units are linked to attributes in the National Soil Information System relational database, which gives the proportionate extent of the component soils and their properties. The soil map and data used in the SSURGO product were prepared by soil scientists as part of the National Cooperative Soil Survey.

    Description

This dataset is designed to represent and identify the property boundaries in Lexington-Fayette County. The original dataset was created in late 1990's by a third party that converted existing paper maps to digital GIS files. The data has since been updated by georeferencing recorded plats for corrections and new additions. In cases where the plats do not appear accurate, aerial photos are utilized in attempt to properly locate the property lines. The only except for this process are changes to highway right-of-way in which calls are run from deeds. The geometry of this data is not of survey quality and should not be used for survey purposes. The data is intended for general reference purposes only.As part of the basemap data layers, the parcel boundary map layer is an integral part of the Lexington Fayette-Urban County Government Geographic Information System. Basemap data layers are accessed by personnel in most LFUCG divisions for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production. More advanced user applications may focus on thematic mapping, summarization of data by geography, or planning purposes (including defining boundaries, managing assets and facilities, integrating attribute databases with geographic features, spatial analysis, and presentation output).

This multi-scale map contains the latest 14 months of unemployment statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The unemployment rate is the ratio of individuals who are unemployed (those not working and actively looking for work in the past 4 weeks, and are currently ready and available to start work) to individuals in the labor force (employed + unemployed). The data is offered at the nationwide, state, and county geography levels. Puerto Rico is included. These are not seasonally adjusted values. The map always represents the most current figures offered by BLS, and updates automatically. To see the most current month offered by BLS, click on a pop-up. You can also find the CurrentMonth attribute in the layer's data table, or visit the the Living Atlas layer used in this map.Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS):https://www.bls.gov/Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS):https://www.bls.gov/lau/
