This is the underlying dataset for the My Neighborhood tool. It is the result of joining datasets from multiple departments based on address and location information in the Street Address Management (SAM) system that is administered by the City. Each row in this dataset represents an address in the city and the resources associated with it.

    Description

The MPCA's What's in My Neighborhood contains a wide variety of environmental information about your community. This includes potentially contaminated sites, permits, licenses, registrations, inspections, and closed enforcement activities.

Potentially contaminated sites: Since the early 1980s when major federal and state cleanup programs were created, the MPCA has been aggressively searching for and helping to clean up contaminated properties, from very small to large. This website contains a searchable inventory of those properties, as well as sites that have already been cleaned up and those currently being investigated or cleaned up.

Environmental permits and registrations: This Web application also contains a searchable inventory of businesses that have applied for and received different types of environmental permits and registrations from the MPCA.

Methods for creating site locations have different levels of precision. The most accurate locations use coordinates from GPS (global positioning system). Coordinates are also derived using the site's street address, zip code or public land survey information. Some MPCA sites are not mapped. These are generally activities that are mobile, like ships with ballast water permits.

    Description

This data set describes Neighborhood Clusters that have been used for community planning and related purposes in the District of Columbia for many years. It does not represent boundaries of District of Columbia neighborhoods. Cluster boundaries were established in the early 2000s based on the professional judgment of the staff of the Office of Planning as reasonably descriptive units of the City for planning purposes. Once created, these boundaries have been maintained unchanged to facilitate comparisons over time, and have been used by many city agencies and outside analysts for this purpose. (The exception is that 7 “additional” areas were added to fill the gaps in the original dataset, which omitted areas without significant neighborhood character such as Rock Creek Park, the National Mall, and the Naval Observatory.) The District of Columbia does not have official neighborhood boundaries. The Office of Planning provides a separate data layer containing Neighborhood Labels that it uses to place neighborhood names on its maps. No formal set of standards describes which neighborhoods are included in that dataset.Whereas neighborhood boundaries can be subjective and fluid over time, these Neighborhood Clusters represent a stable set of boundaries that can be used to describe conditions within the District of Columbia over time.

    Description

The Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods (PHDCN) was a large-scale, interdisciplinary study of how families, schools, and neighborhoods affect child and adolescent development. One component of the PHDCN was the Longitudinal Cohort Study, which was a series of coordinated longitudinal studies that followed over 6,000 randomly selected children, adolescents, and young adults, and their primary caregivers over time to examine the changing circumstances of their lives, as well as the personal characteristics, that might lead them toward or away from a variety of antisocial behaviors. Numerous measures were administered to respondents to gauge various aspects of human development, including individual differences, as well as family, peer, and school influences. Once such measure was the subject self-report version of the Exposure to Violence. For Wave 2, a much more detailed version of the instrument than was used in Wave 1 was developed to assess exposure to violence. It was called, My Exposure to Violence (Subject), or ETVS. This detailed subject self-report instrument was administered to Cohorts 9 to 15 and obtained information regarding the subject's lifetime and past year exposure to violent events. In addition, a short form of the subject self-report instrument was used with subjects in Cohort 6. The subject self-report instrument is complemented by the parent-report instrument PROJECT ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS (PHDCN): MY CHILD'S EXPOSURE TO VIOLENCE, WAVE 2, 1997-2000 (ICPSR 13619).

Description

Using the My Neighborhood tool on Boston.gov, residents can search an address and find city resources closest to them, including City Councilor information, the nearest public library and park, early voting information, and more. This is the underlying dataset for the My Neighborhood tool. It is the result of joining datasets from multiple departments based on address and location information in the Street Address Management (SAM) system that is administered by the City. Each row in this dataset represents an address in the city and the resources associated with it.
