National Address DatabaseThis National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) dataset, shared as a U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) feature layer, displays address data in the United States. Per USDOT, "The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and its partners from all levels of government recognize the need for a National Address Database (NAD). Accurate and up-to-date addresses are critical to transportation safety and are a vital part of Next Generation 9-1-1. They are also essential for a broad range of government services, including mail delivery, permitting, and school siting. To meet this need, USDOT partners with address programs from state, local, and tribal governments to compile their authoritative data into the NAD."District of Columbia (DC) Residential AddressesData currency: Current federal service (Address Points from National Address Database)NGDAID: 196 (National Address Database (NAD))For more information: Getting to know the National Address Database (NAD); National Address DatabaseFor feedback, please contact: Esri_US_Federal_Data@esri.comNGDA Data SetThis data set is part of the NGDA Transportation Theme Community. Description

Geoscape G-NAF is the geocoded address database for Australian businesses and governments. It’s the trusted source of geocoded address data for Australia with over 50 million contributed addresses distilled into 15.4 million G-NAF addresses. It is built and maintained by Geoscape Australia using independently examined and validated government data.

From 22 August 2022, Geoscape Australia is making G-NAF available in an additional simplified table format. G-NAF Core makes accessing geocoded addresses easier by utilising less technical effort.

G-NAF Core will be updated on a quarterly basis along with G-NAF.

Further information about contributors to G-NAF is available here.

With more than 15 million Australian physical address record, G-NAF is one of the most ubiquitous and powerful spatial datasets. The records include geocodes, which are latitude and longitude map coordinates. G-NAF does not contain personal information or details relating to individuals.

Updated versions of G-NAF are published on a quarterly basis. Previous versions are available here

Users have the option to download datasets with feature coordinates referencing either GDA94 or GDA2020 datums.

Changes in the May 2025 release

    • Nationally, the May 2025 update of G-NAF shows an overall increase of 47,194 addresses (0.30%). The total number of addresses in G-NAF now stands at 15,753,927 of which 14,909,770 or 94.64% are principal.

    • At some locations, there are unit-numbered addresses that appear to be duplicate addresses. Geoscape is working to identify these locations and include these addresses as separate addresses in G-NAF. To facilitate this process, some secondary addresses have had the word RETAIL added to their building names. In the first instance, this process is being progressively rolled out to identified locations, but it is expected that the requirement for this will become ongoing.

    • There is one new locality in G-NAF: Keswick Island, QLD.

    • The source data used for generating G-NAF STREET_LOCALITY_POINT data in New South Wales has an updated datum and changed from GDA94 to GDA2020. This has resulted in updates to the STREET_LOCALITY_POINT geometry for approximately 91,000 records, however, more than 95% of these have moved less than a metre.

    • Geoscape has moved product descriptions, guides and reports online to https://docs.geoscape.com.au.

Further information on G-NAF, including FAQs on the data, is available here or through Geoscape Australia’s network of partners. They provide a range of commercial products based on G-NAF, including software solutions, consultancy and support.

Additional information: On 1 October 2020, PSMA Australia Limited began trading as Geoscape Australia.

    License Information

Use of the G-NAF downloaded from data.gov.au is subject to the End User Licence Agreement (EULA)

The EULA terms are based on the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). However, an important restriction relating to the use of the open G-NAF for the sending of mail has been added.

The open G-NAF data must not be used for the generation of an address or the compilation of an address for the sending of mail unless the user has verified that each address to be used for the sending of mail is capable of receiving mail by reference to a secondary source of information. Further information on this use restriction is available here.

End users must only use the data in ways that are consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles issued under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Users must also note the following attribution requirements:

Preferred attribution for the Licensed Material:

_G-NAF © Geoscape Australia licensed by the Commonwealth of Australia under the _Open Geo-coded National Address File (G-NAF) End User Licence Agreement.

    Preferred attribution for Adapted Material:

Incorporates or developed using G-NAF © Geoscape Australia licensed by the Commonwealth of Australia under the Open Geo-coded National Address File (G-NAF) End User Licence Agreement.

What to Expect When You Download G-NAF

G-NAF is a complex and large dataset (approximately 5GB unpacked), consisting of multiple tables that will need to be joined prior to use. The dataset is primarily designed for application developers and large-scale spatial integration. Users are advised to read the technical documentation, including product change notices and the individual product descriptions before downloading and using the product. A quick reference guide on unpacking the G-NAF is also available.

AbstractNational Address Points is a derived, spatial adaptation of Geoscape's Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) product. It is a point dataset, with records representing the physical location of addresses in Australia.PurposeThis product has been developed for spatial visualisation and analysis of address points across Australia. It is optimised for visualisation through the Digital Atlas of Australia or a desktop GIS.For other uses of national address data consider using G-NAF or G-NAF Core. While G-NAF is available to the public under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, there are special restrictions relating to the use of the data for the sending of mail purposes. Further information on this use restriction is available here. The data was accessed through data.gov.au.Metadata: Geoscape G-NAF Metadata StatementLineage StatementNational Address Points is built from Geoscape's quarterly released G-NAF psv text files. It uses the available data model in the G-NAF product description to appropriately join the tables into a flat structure and is geocoded using the latitude and longitude attributes in GDA2020. During development, decisions have been made to include or exclude certain attributes, as well as develop new ones where suitable. These decisions maintain the integrity of the original dataset and were made considering envisioned use case(s) and access of the dataset in the Digital Atlas of Australia. Two additional attributes have been developed and included in the National Address Points dataset: COMPLETE_ADDRESS and MB_CENSUS_YEAR.COMPLETE_ADDRESS is a concatenated, complete address string of the address components (i.e. Flat attributes, Level attributes, Lot attributes, Street Number attributes, Street Name attributes, Locality, State and Postcode).MB_CENSUS_YEAR is the year of the ABS Census the Mesh Block data is extracted from. The psv file that with this information is dynamically named and attributed (with the year in the file name and attribute name). A method has been developed to ensure this is consistently and accurately populated.Attributes excluded from the final National Address Points product are still accessible to users by downloading and joining to Geoscape's original G-NAF product, found at data.gov.au.Original G-NAF attribute names, data types and data content included in National Address Points are not changed.Data DictionaryAttribute NameDescriptionADDRESS_DETAIL_PIDThe Persistent Identifier is unique to the real world feature this record represents.DATE_CREATEDDate the address record was created.DATE_LAST_MODIFIEDDate the address record was last modified.DATE_RETIREDDate the address record was retired.COMPLETE_ADDRESSA concatenated complete address string of address components (Flat, Level, Lot, Street Number, Street Name attributes, Locality, State and Postcode).ADDRESS_SITE_NAMEAddress site name.BUILDING_NAMECombines both building/property name fields.LOCATION_DESCRIPTIONA general field to capture various references to address locations alongside another physical location.FLAT_TYPESpecification of the type of a separately identifiable portion within a building/complex.FLAT_NUMBER_PREFIXFlat/unit number prefix.FLAT_NUMBERFlat/unit number.FLAT_NUMBER_SUFFIXFlat/unit number suffix.LEVEL_TYPELevel Type.LEVEL_NUMBER_PREFIXLevel number prefix.LEVEL_NUMBERLevel number.LEVEL_NUMBER_SUFFIXLevel number suffix.NUMBER_FIRST_PREFIXPrefix for the first (or only) number in range.NUMBER_FIRSTIdentifies first (or only) street number in range.NUMBER_FIRST_SUFFIXSuffix for the first (or only) number in range.NUMBER_LAST_PREFIXPrefix for the last number in range.NUMBER_LASTIdentifies last number in range.NUMBER_LAST_SUFFIXSuffix for the last number in range.LOT_NUMBER_PREFIXLot number prefix.LOT_NUMBERLot number.LOT_NUMBER_SUFFIXLot number suffix.STREET_NAMEStreet name. e.g. "POPLAR".STREET_TYPEStreet type in full text (e.g. AVENUE, PARADE, STREET).STREET_SUFFIXStreet suffix in full text (e.g. EAST, WEST).LOCALITY_NAMEThe name of the locality or suburb.STATEThe state or territory abbreviation.POSTCODEPostcode.LEGAL_PARCEL_IDGeneric parcel id field derived from the Geoscape Australia’s Cadastre parcel where available.MB_CODEThe mesh block code.MB_CENSUS_YEARThe ABS Census Year the mesh block codes is extracted from.GEOCODE_TYPEName of the geocode type.LEVEL_GEOCODEDName of the geocode level type code.ADDRESS_TYPEAddress type (e.g. "Postal", Physical").PRIVATE_STREETPrivate street information.ALIAS_PRINCIPALA = Alias record, P = Principal record.ALIAS_TYPEAlias type (e.g. "Synonym").PRINCIPAL_PIDPersistent identifier (i.e. ADDRESS_DETAIL_PID) of the principal address.PRIMARY_SECONDARYIndicator that identifies if the address is P (Primary) or S (Secondary).PRIMARY_PIDPersistent identifier for the primary address.LONGITUDELongitude.LATITUDELatitude.CONFIDENCEReflects how many contributor databases this address appears in (0 = 1 database, 1 = 2 database etc.).ContactThe Digital Atlas of Australia: digitalatlas@ga.gov.au

    Description

The national address gazetteer brings together address information from local authorities and Ordnance Survey to create a ‘national address gazetteer database’, providing one definitive source of accurate publicly-owned spatial address data for the whole of the public sector. To deliver this, the Local Government Group and Ordnance Survey have entered into a joint venture partnership, ‘GeoPlace™’, from which address products have been created. It brings together local government’s address and streets gazetteers - the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and One Scotland Gazetteer (OSG) - with all of Ordnance Survey’s addressing products - ADDRESS-POINT® and OS MasterMap® Address Layer and Address Layer 2. The national address gazetteer contains the existing unique identifiers and the definitive street name and number (generated by local authorities) with the postcode from the Royal Mail as well as a link to the map base from Ordnance Survey, through the OS TOID® and grid reference. The data contains the unique property reference number (UPRN) and unique street reference number (USRN) from the NLPG and OSG as the primary keys.

    Description

Keep track of the location of the property in the address list.

Access resources are designed to help anyone who can find information on the location of people, property, structures, areas or other things needed. Access addresses are thus used directly by the public or through various organisations, such as government authorities, emergency services, investigative bodies, utility companies and others.

The term address is an access address. An address contains both descriptive and geometrical location information. Descriptive information, for example, refers to which municipality, town or neighborhood address is located and on which street it is located. Geometric information means two-dimensional coordinates of a harmonised national coordinate system.

The address list contains records for over 95 % of all registered real estate in Registers Iceland’s real estate register. Most addresses correspond to structures or structures. Where there is no structure on land, the land itself receives an address.

Basically, the address is the destination. It refers to the entrance of a construction or other type of entry. The relationship between addresses and land is such that many addresses can be linked to each land, but only one land is linked to each address. Thus, for example, each of the stairways of a multi-dwelling house can have its own address.

    Description

The service validates addresses and returns the standardised address, their locations (X,Y coordinates) and match score. These coordinates can be used with the Location SA Street Map Web Service or other map data to display the returned record on a map. Address Locator data is current as at February 2017 nationally. Data incorporates G-NAF ©PSMA Australia Limited licensed by the Commonwealth of Australia under the Open Geo-coded National Address File (G-NAF) End User Licence Agreement for the purpose of verifying, validating and mapping addresses.
Please read the User documentation published with this record. A Location SA Data mentor will monitor the GovHack slack channel on the weekend for troubleshooting.
This services will be free and active until 30 September 2017 (or the GovHack international Red Carpet Awards if after this date) to support the pilot and showcase GovHack concepts created using Location SA data services.

    Description

This dataset is an enrichment of the INSEE dataset (SIRENE database of enterprises and their establishments (SIREN, SIRET)) (https://www.data.gouv.fr/en/datasets/base-sirene-des-entreprises-et-de-leurs-etablissements-siren-siret/). This enriches the original base as follows: - Breakdown of the StockEstablishment file by geographical grid: departments and municipalities. - Addition of a number of columns relating to the geolocation of establishments based on the most relevant proximity score between the address indicated in the SIRENE database and the National Address Database or the Points of Interest of Openstreetmap. - Longitude field: longitude of the establishment - Field "latitude": Latitude of establishment - Field geo_score: Trust score returned by the addok geocoder (between 0 and 1, the higher the score, the more relevant the geocoding seems) - Field geo_type: type of address found - Field geo_address: wording of the address found - Field geo_id: identifier of this address in the source database where it was found (BAN or POI) - Field geo_line: which address line of the SIRENE database could be geocoded (G=geographical, D=declared, N=normalized) - Field geo_l4: line 4 to standard AFNOR address - Field geo_l5: line 5 to standard AFNOR address The processing allowing the production of this dataset is carried out by Etalab. It is largely inspired by the previous work of Christian Quest available here. This processing is based on the geocoder Addok. This dataset is used in the search engine of the business directory and in its API (https://api.gouv.fr/les-api/api-recherche-entreprises).
