    Description

    The National Highway System consists of a network of roads important to the economy, defense and mobility. On October 1, 2012 the existing National Highway System (NHS) was expanded to include all existing Principal Arterials (i.e. Functional Classifications 1, 2 and 3) to the new Enhanced NHS. Under MAP-21, the Enhanced NHS is composed of rural and urban roads nationwide serving major population centers, international border crossings, intermodal transportation facilities, and major travel destinations.The NHS includes:The Interstate System. Other Principal arterials and border crossings on those routes (including other urban and rural principal arterial routes, and border crossings on those routes, that were not included on the NHS before the date of enactment of the MAP-21).Intermodal connectors -- highways that provide motor vehicle access between the NHS and major intermodal transportation facilities. STRAHNET -- the network of highways important to U.S. strategic defense. STRAHNET connectors to major military installations.

    StateHighways are state highways based upon the Caltrans Linear Referencing System. Each record in this layer represents a highway segment where the county, route, postmile prefix, and postmile suffix are the same. Each segment has a begin and end postmile. This geometry is based upon the extraction from TSN on 8 June 2025. Route geometry updates based upon this extraction include routes 3, 36, 38, 49, 89, 139, 174, and 221. All updates received an update date of 6/8/2025 except for route 221 which received a date of 7/1/2025.

    The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Primary roads are generally divided, limited-access highways within the interstate highway system or under State management, and are distinguished by the presence of interchanges. These highways are accessible by ramps and may include some toll highways. The MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) is S1100 for primary roads. Secondary roads are main arteries, usually in the U.S. Highway, State Highway, and/or County Highway system. These roads have one or more lanes of traffic in each direction, may or may not be divided, and usually have at-grade intersections with many other roads and driveways. They usually have both a local name and a route number. The MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) is S1200 for secondary roads.

    Description

    Notice - Replacement of the English and French Web services (WMS and ESRI REST) with a bilingual one. The NRN product is distributed in the form of thirteen provincial or territorial datasets and consists of two linear entities (Road Segment and Ferry Connection Segment) and three punctual entities (Junction, Blocked Passage, Toll Point) with which is associated a series of descriptive attributes such as, among others: First House Number, Last House Number, Street Name Body, Place Name, Functional Road Class, Pavement Status, Number Of Lanes, Structure Type, Route Number, Route Name, Exit Number. The development of the NRN was realized by means of individual meetings and national workshops with interested data providers from the federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments. In 2005, the NRN edition 2.0 was alternately adopted by members from the Inter-Agency Committee on Geomatics (IACG) and the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG). The NRN content largely conforms to the ISO 14825 from ISO/TC 204.

    The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the California Energy Commission (CEC) are partnering to implement the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program, which allocates $5 billion to the states to create a nationwide, interconnected network of DC fast chargers along the National Highway Systems. California's share will be $384 million over 5 years. This map was developed to help prospective applicants and interested parties identify eligible areas for infrastructure deployment.InstructionsViewers can display Alternative Fuel Corridors, NEVI 2 (GFO-24-606) corridor groups and corridor segments, NEVI 1 (GFO-23-601) corridor groups, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, Tribal lands, California-designated low-income or disadvantaged communities, metropolitan planning organizations, regional transportation planning agencies, California state legislative districts, counties, Caltrans districts, utility districts, and congressional districts in this interactive map. The map initially displays the corridor groups and corridor segments eligible for California's Round 2 NEVI solicitation. Viewers can toggle individual layers on and off using the map layers menu located to the right of the map. Some layers are organized into groups; viewers can toggle all layers within a group or select specific ones. The legend to the left of the map will show the layers that have been turned on. There is a search tool to the right of the map that enables viewers to type in an address and locate the address on the map. A basemap selector allows viewers to view road detail. Additional information on the map can be found under the information icon. Viewers can download the map files by clicking on the Data and Supplemental Links icon. BackgroundThe $5 billion NEVI Program is part of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) signed into law by President Biden in November 2021. IIJA commits significant federal funding to clean transportation and energy programs throughout the U.S. to reduce climate changing greenhouse gas emissions. Caltrans is the designated lead agency for NEVI. The CEC is their designated state energy partner. Caltrans and the CEC have partnered to create California's Deployment Plan for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program that describes how the state plans to allocate its $384 million share of federal NEVI funds to build out a network of modern, high-powered DC fast chargers along federally designated Alternative Fuel Corridors throughout California. California's latest NEVI Deployment Plan was submitted to the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation on August 1, 2023 and approved on September 29, 2023. The Plans must be updated each year over 5 years.NEVI funds must be used initially on federally-designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (shown on the map).Each NEVI-funded DC fast charge station will have a minimum of four 150 kW Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors. Stations will be located no more than 50 miles apart along freeways and highways and no more than 1 mile from a freeway exit or highway roadway.     The 2016 Manitoba Road Network was created by Manitoba Infrastructure --> Highway Engineering--> Highway Planning and Design. The department’s linear referencing system (LRS) uses Control Sections as a linear referencing method (LRM). The LRM is the digital representation of the Highway Network in Manitoba. The features indicate highway number and highway identity. This data was corrected using 1:60,000 digital ortho aerial photography dated from 1991-1998. Linear features have been updated on a yearly basis using GPS data, CAD files and 50cm imagery from 2007-2014, and is considered accurate to two-to-seven metres. Please note that this feature layer primarily contains only the roads that Manitoba Infrastructure is responsible for, i.e. Provincial Trunk Highways, Provincial Roads and Access Roads. However, you may also see Earth Roads (under construction) or Other roads (such as those passing through national parks and are federal responsibility).A newer version of this data is available: Manitoba Road Network 2018. Field List - FIELD NAME (Field Alias (i.e. display name)) in parenthesis) OBJECTID (OBJECTID) - Sequential, unique whole numbers are automatically generated. SHAPE (SHAPE) - A field to hold geometry information. ID (ID) - Unique Identifier generated by Oracle. CS_ID (Control Section ID) - Non unique identifier linking segment to its respective control section. ROAD_NO_SIGNED (Road Number Signed) - The road number. Note though, that in the case of co-routes, the lower highway number appears. This is a text field and differs from ROAD_NO only where there are city routes, for example 1A. ROAD_LOCATION (Road Location) - Access Road locations. DESCRIPTION (Road Description) - A text description of the start and end locations of each segment. CS_KEY (Control Section Key) - An information rich key containing Region (two digits), Road Number (three digits), Section number (three digits), the Road Type (one character), and direction of travel (one character). REGION_NO (MI Region) - The Manitoba Infrastructure region the segment is in. Regions 1-5. ROAD_NO (Road Number) - The road number. Note co-routes will have the lesser highway number. SECTION_NO (Section Number) - The control section's section number. START_KM (Start Kilometre (KM)) - The beginning of the Control Section (always zero). END_KM (End Kilometre (KM)) - The number of kilometres to the end of the Control Section. LENGTH_KM (Length Kilometres (KM)) - End Kilometre minus the Start Kilometre. ROAD_TYPE (Road Type) - The road type, i.e. PTHs, PRs, and Access Roads (Earth roads under construction may also be included). ROAD_DIRECTION (Road Direction) - A = ahead direction on a divided highway (i.e. following the digitizing direction), B = Back direction on a divided Highway (i.e. against the digitizing direction, and U= an undivided highway. ROAD_IDENTITY (Road Identity) - Road identity i.e. Provincial Road, Earth Road, Access Road and Other Road. NATIONAL_HIGHWAY_CLASS (National Highway Classification) - The national highway classification standard. START_DATE (Start Date) - The date the segment was created in the database. INVENTORY_YEAR (Inventory Year) - The year the road segment was opened to the public. SHAPE_Length (Segment Length) - An automatically generated length field based on geometry.

    Description

    Caltrans provides Safety Roadside Rest Areas as a part of the State Highway System pursuant to Streets and Highways Code, Sections 218-226.5. Safety Roadside Rest Areas provide opportunities for travelers to safely stop, stretch, take a nap, use the restroom, get water, check maps, place telephone calls, switch drivers, check vehicles and loads, and exercise pets. Rest areas reduce drowsy and distracted driving and provide a safe and convenient alternative to unsafe parking along the roadside. This dataset provides the detail rest area information collected from Right of Way and the Statewide Rest Areas List from Division of Maintenance. The data was last updated on 08-15-2023, Verification Source: CT Public Facilities Inventory List.

    In some cases, rest areas are closed temporarily for maintenance, the facility web links will help to check the current status of the rest areas.

The National Highway System consists of a network of roads important to the economy, defense and mobility. On October 1, 2012 the existing National Highway System (NHS) was expanded to include all existing Principal Arterials (i.e. Functional Classifications 1, 2 and 3) to the new Enhanced NHS. Under MAP-21, the Enhanced NHS is composed of rural and urban roads nationwide serving major population centers, international border crossings, intermodal transportation facilities, and major travel destinations.The NHS includes:The Interstate System. Other Principal arterials and border crossings on those routes (including other urban and rural principal arterial routes, and border crossings on those routes, that were not included on the NHS before the date of enactment of the MAP-21).Intermodal connectors -- highways that provide motor vehicle access between the NHS and major intermodal transportation facilities. STRAHNET -- the network of highways important to U.S. strategic defense. STRAHNET connectors to major military installations.
