This service depicts National Park Service tract and boundary data that was created by the Land Resources Division. NPS Director's Order #25 states: "Land status maps will be prepared to identify the ownership of the lands within the authorized boundaries of the park unit. These maps, showing ownership and acreage, are the 'official record' of the acreage of Federal and non-federal lands within the park boundaries. While these maps are the official record of the lands and acreage within the unit's authorized boundaries, they are not of survey quality and not intended to be used for survey purposes." As such this data is intended for use as a tool for GIS analysis. It is in no way intended for engineering or legal purposes. The data accuracy is checked against best available sources which may be dated and vary by location. NPS assumes no liability for use of this data. The boundary polygons represent the current legislated boundary of a given NPS unit. NPS does not necessarily have full fee ownership or hold another interest (easement, right of way, etc...) in all parcels contained within this boundary. Equivalently NPS may own or have an interest in parcels outside the legislated boundary of a given unit. In order to obtain complete information about current NPS interests both inside and outside a unit’s legislated boundary tract level polygons are also created by NPS Land Resources Division and should be used in conjunction with this boundary data. Park Boundary polygons for Acadia National Park, Maine. Use attributes to distinguish between lands in fee-ownership, lands still to be acquired in fee-ownership in accordance with Public Law 99-420 or Public Law 97-335 (inholdings or acquisition parcels), or conservation easements. Conservation easement lands held by the NPS are still in private ownership and are generally not open to public access; please observe landowner rights. This layer is produced, maintained, and used by Acadia National Park for cartographic purposes because it fits well with other local data. The National Parks and National Park Reserves of Canada Legislative Boundaries web service includes the following lands: 1) National Parks of Canada as defined in Schedule 1 of the Canada National Parks Act, 2) National Park Reserves of Canada as defined in Schedule 2 of the Canada National Parks Act, 3) Rouge National Urban Park as defined in the Rouge National Urban Park Act and 4) Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park as defined in the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Act. The Data available for download is the former National Framework Canada Lands Administrative Boundaries Level 1 product. There are some attribute differences between the data available for download and the web service; however both contain the same underlying data. Please refer to the Supporting Documents for additional information on the National Framework Canada Lands Administrative Boundaries Level 1 dataset. Work is under way to align these two data products. As well, the Comprehensive Claims Settlement Areas have been removed from this dataset, but can be obtained from the Post-1975 Treaties (Modern Treaties) dataset produced by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

Areas managed as WILDERNESSwithin Glacier National Park. This mapping was compiled in 2014, implementing NPS Director's Order 41 (2013), which provides guidelines to NPS units for delineating wilderness boundaries. The two main criteria provided by DO-41 are that boundaries 1) must be easily identifiable on the ground, and 2) standard boundary setbacks from roads, paved or unpaved, should be 100-feet either side of centerline. Included in this mapping are areas EXCLUDED from wilderness, which generally fall within 100-feet of road centerline or are part of the park's Visitor Service Zone (GMP, 1999). Additional areas categorized as 'Excluded from wilderness' include lands designated as part of the Visitor Service Zone (VSZ), documented in the GLAC Commercial Serices Plan (2004). Developed area footprints were mapped and then buffered 300-feet. Utility corridors and point locations were mapped and buffered 25-feet. Also, large lakes with existing commercial services were included in the VSZ and thus were categorized as Excluded.POTENTIAL WILDERNESS AREAS (PWA) are the 3rd map class; these lands are currently in private ownership, providing access to private ownership, or are small fragmented areas (i.e. not easily identified on the ground and difficult to manage as wilderness due to size and surrounding land uses) between areas excluded from wilderness (e.g. utility corridors and lands between utility corridors and other excluded areas).Chronology of edits:Begin edits 11/8/13 to implement DO-41. Update layer March 4, 2014 - create version 3 with the following edits - based on 3/3/14 meeting with GLAC Leadership Team (Kym Hall):1. Camas Cr patrol cabin, include 100-ft buffer of cabin + 100-ft buffer of roadway from Inside Rd.2. This data set is a compilation of discrete boundary polygons created for individual NPS units and represents the most current data for the National Park System. The initial data set was compiled in 2002 from a variety of National Park Service (NPS) and cooperative sources as noted in this metadata. Beginning in 2004, individual park boundary polygons are being replaced with more precise and accurate administrative boundaries developed by the NPS Land Resources Division as they become available. This data set contains the national and provincial boundaries of Ecuador as well as the boundaries of two national parks: the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and the Yasuni National Park. There are four data files in ESRI ARCGIS Shapefile format within this data set. Each shape file has been compressed into a single compressed file (*.zip).

This data set contains small-scale base GIS data layers compiled by the National Park Service Servicewide Inventory and Monitoring Program and Water Resources Division for use in a Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Report that was prepared for the park. The report presents the results of surface water quality data retrievals for the park from six of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) national databases: (1) Storage and Retrieval (STORET) water quality database management system; (2) River Reach File (RF3) Hydrography; (3) Industrial Facilities Discharges; (4) Drinking Water Supplies; (5) Water Gages; and (6) Water Impoundments. The small-scale GIS data layers were used to prepare the maps included in the report that depict the locations of water quality monitoring stations, industrial discharges, drinking intakes, water gages, and water impoundments. The data layers included in the maps (and this dataset) vary depending on availability, but generally include roads, hydrography, political boundaries, USGS 7.5' minute quadrangle outlines, hydrologic units, trails, and others as appropriate. The scales of each layer vary depending on data source but are generally 1:100,000.

This dataset consists of three related feature classes:

-- A point file of State Park, State Recreation Area, and State Wayside Area reference locations, individually positioned at large scale to represent a common destination within the park such as its entrance or visitor's center (dnr_management_units_prk_ref_pts).

-- Statutory boundary polygons of State Parks, State Recreation Areas, and State Wayside Areas (dnr_stat_plan_areas_prk). These features represent only the boundary of the management unit's formal legal description as defined in Statutory law and do not imply management or ownership of lands by the State inside the boundary.

-- Polygons of lands managed by the MNDNR Division of Parks and Trails within these statutory boundaries (dnr_management_units_prk).

Boundary area of a national park or reserve that declared or registered by the government

This is a vector polyline file showing trails at Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GRSM). The data was collected using a Trimble Pro XR GPS receiver with a Trimble Compact Dome Antenna and a Trimble Asset Surveyor hand held data logger. The trail system a Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most important man-made recreational features of the Park. This dataset represents the most comprehensive inventory of both locational and attribute information about the trails systems to date and is considered on of the most important base data layers for the Park. As such GRSM staff will strive to the both spatial and attribute information stored within this dataset up to date in order to best reflect the current status of the trails system at the Park Only Trails that are shown on the official park visitor map and/or listed in the park maintenance system are contained in this dataset. Other trails, while known to the park to exist and clearly used for access to permanent features (e.g. cemeteries, overlooks), are not contained in this dataset due to the parks desire to ensure safety of visitors on park trails. These data are formatted for use by park staff in the park 1:24,000-scale topographic map series, and are classified using the "FCSubtype" field, which classifies a trail segment based on primary use.The corresponding Integration of Resource Management Applications (IRMA) NPS Data Store reference is Great Smoky Mountains National Park Trails.
