This data set contains small-scale base GIS data layers compiled by the National Park Service Servicewide Inventory and Monitoring Program and Water Resources Division for use in a Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Report that was prepared for the park. The report presents the results of surface water quality data retrievals for the park from six of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) national databases: (1) Storage and Retrieval (STORET) water quality database management system; (2) River Reach File (RF3) Hydrography; (3) Industrial Facilities Discharges; (4) Drinking Water Supplies; (5) Water Gages; and (6) Water Impoundments. The small-scale GIS data layers were used to prepare the maps included in the report that depict the locations of water quality monitoring stations, industrial discharges, drinking intakes, water gages, and water impoundments. The data layers included in the maps (and this dataset) vary depending on availability, but generally include roads, hydrography, political boundaries, USGS 7.5' minute quadrangle outlines, hydrologic units, trails, and others as appropriate. The scales of each layer vary depending on data source but are generally 1:100,000.

This service depicts National Park Service tract and boundary data that was created by the Land Resources Division. NPS Director's Order #25 states: "Land status maps will be prepared to identify the ownership of the lands within the authorized boundaries of the park unit. These maps, showing ownership and acreage, are the 'official record' of the acreage of Federal and non-federal lands within the park boundaries. While these maps are the official record of the lands and acreage within the unit's authorized boundaries, they are not of survey quality and not intended to be used for survey purposes." As such this data is intended for use as a tool for GIS analysis. It is in no way intended for engineering or legal purposes. The data accuracy is checked against best available sources which may be dated and vary by location. NPS assumes no liability for use of this data. The boundary polygons represent the current legislated boundary of a given NPS unit. NPS does not necessarily have full fee ownership or hold another interest (easement, right of way, etc...) in all parcels contained within this boundary. Equivalently NPS may own or have an interest in parcels outside the legislated boundary of a given unit. In order to obtain complete information about current NPS interests both inside and outside a unit’s legislated boundary tract level polygons are also created by NPS Land Resources Division and should be used in conjunction with this boundary data. The National Parks and National Park Reserves of Canada Legislative Boundaries web service includes the following lands: 1) National Parks of Canada as defined in Schedule 1 of the Canada National Parks Act, 2) National Park Reserves of Canada as defined in Schedule 2 of the Canada National Parks Act, 3) Rouge National Urban Park as defined in the Rouge National Urban Park Act and 4) Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park as defined in the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Act. The Data available for download is the former National Framework Canada Lands Administrative Boundaries Level 1 product. There are some attribute differences between the data available for download and the web service; however both contain the same underlying data. Please refer to the Supporting Documents for additional information on the National Framework Canada Lands Administrative Boundaries Level 1 dataset. Work is under way to align these two data products. As well, the Comprehensive Claims Settlement Areas have been removed from this dataset, but can be obtained from the Post-1975 Treaties (Modern Treaties) dataset produced by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

This spatial dataset contains the digital boundaries of National Parks in Wales. National Parks were established to protect beautiful and relatively wild countryside by: - Preserving the characteristic beauty of the landscape; - Providing access and facilities for public open-air enjoyment; - Protecting wildlife, buildings and places of architectural and historic interest; whilst allowing sustainable farming use to continue as before. Powers to create National Parks were established under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. In Wales, since 1991, the designation of National Parks are proposed by former Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) which now forms part of, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), and confirmed by the First Minister for the Welsh Government. Since 1996 the Parks have been administered by independent free-standing authorities. With the coming of GIS and its use in government departments and commercial companies mobilising the data in this way, advances the protection of these sites and the efficiency of decision making. The three National Parks have been designated over a number of years, Snowdonia 1951 (variation 1974); Pembrokeshire Coast 1952 (Variation 1989); Brecon Beacons 1955 (V ariation 1966). The data has been held digitally since mid 1990s. The boundary has been transferred to OS MasterMap by NRW but there has been joint checking by NRW staff and the relevant Park authority staff.

Areas managed as WILDERNESSwithin Glacier National Park. This mapping was compiled in 2014, implementing NPS Director's Order 41 (2013), which provides guidelines to NPS units for delineating wilderness boundaries. The two main criteria provided by DO-41 are that boundaries 1) must be easily identifiable on the ground, and 2) standard boundary setbacks from roads, paved or unpaved, should be 100-feet either side of centerline. Included in this mapping are areas EXCLUDED from wilderness, which generally fall within 100-feet of road centerline or are part of the park's Visitor Service Zone (GMP, 1999). Additional areas categorized as 'Excluded from wilderness' include lands designated as part of the Visitor Service Zone (VSZ), documented in the GLAC Commercial Serices Plan (2004). Developed area footprints were mapped and then buffered 300-feet. Utility corridors and point locations were mapped and buffered 25-feet. Also, large lakes with existing commercial services were included in the VSZ and thus were categorized as Excluded.POTENTIAL WILDERNESS AREAS (PWA) are the 3rd map class; these lands are currently in private ownership, providing access to private ownership, or are small fragmented areas (i.e. not easily identified on the ground and difficult to manage as wilderness due to size and surrounding land uses) between areas excluded from wilderness (e.g. utility corridors and lands between utility corridors and other excluded areas).Chronology of edits:Begin edits 11/8/13 to implement DO-41. Update layer March 4, 2014 - create version 3 with the following edits - based on 3/3/14 meeting with GLAC Leadership Team (Kym Hall):1.
