    Description

The Foundation Rail Infrastructure feature dataset is part of the Foundation Spatial Data Framework theme for Transport. The Foundation Rail Infrastructure feature dataset is specifically made up of Rail line features (Railways, Rail Sidings and Tramline including Light Rail) and Rail points (Stations). This feature class represents a national aggregation of the spatial locations and attributes of line and point features, of publicly available data. Rail Infrastructure information has been derived from various sources provided by data custodians including Spatial Services (NSW), Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (QLD), Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (VIC), Land Tasmania (TAS) and Department of Infrastructure and Transport (SA).

The coverage is across all states and territories however due to restrictive licensing, Geoscience Australia data was used as the source data for Western Australia (lines and points), the Northern Territory (lines and points) and South Australia (points). Data published by Victoria falling within South Australia has been included (points).

Further information on datasets provided by State and Territory custodians can be found under Source Information in the metadata statement.

NZ railway network, each polyline object representing a separate line entity (eg, North Auckland Line, Main South Line), with attribute information identifying full line name. Includes the current operational rail network and also track not managed by KiwiRail. Information does not include the track status. Data includes all existences of railway track, but does not include proposed, historical or uplifted tracks. This data is suitable for mapping but not for survey accurate information or exporting to CAD for design (does not include true track geometry/design or elevation).NOTE: for a more accurate and detailed version of KiwiRail track data (categorising each track asset by type), please use the KiwiRail Track Centreline dataset.

    Description

Segmentation of the rail network according to the characteristics of the infrastructure and the possibilities of operation. This list includes the route and technical characteristics of the line sections. Important note: These data are to be associated with the data set of the network's Operational points.. It geolocates the start and end points of the sections whose identifiers and abbreviations are given in this dataset. These data are intended to allow schematic representations of the Belgian rail network (i.e. for a maximum scale of 1/25 000). For a more precise geolocation of the main tracks, we recommend the following dataset: List and geographical position of the main tracks. These data are also published in the European Register of Infrastructure (RINF) This dataset mainly contains the technical characteristics of the line sections in terms of gauge, electrical installation and the type of rail traffic allowed. The codes used are listed and explained in the following reference documents: Abbreviations of the BTS. The Book of the Train Service, is part of the Network Statement, which can be consulted on our corporate website. The NBN EN 15273-3 norm explains, among other things, the Belgian and interoperable minimum size codes. The codes C400,C70,P400 and P70 refer to the codes of the UIC 596-6 leaflet “Conditions for coding intermodal transport units in combined transport, combined transport lines and wagons”

The entities included in the dataset represent the Belgian rail transport network in the sense of the Inspire European directive. The dataset comprises several classes and is in accordance with the INSPIRE specifications.

The RailLink class represents, in a linear manner, all of the rail links between each pair of dots for the network considered. The RailwayStationNode class represents occasionally all of the stations located along the network.

In addition to this are two classes without geometry. The RailwatType class ranks the segments according to the type of rail transport for which they were designed. All the segments for this dataset belong to the train category. The "RailwaytElectrification" class lists the segments according to whether they are electrified or not.

KiwiRail kilometre posts or pegs depicting every full (and sometimes half) km point. For use in identifying linear locations on the railway network. Every point object has a number (km reference) and line name, to identify its position on the network.Pegs are shown located on the track centreline, parallel to actual peg location (which is not necessarily exactly 1000m or 500m from previous peg location).Data capture was a desktop exercise and peg location is to the best of knowledge, but has not been verified in the field for all locations. Data does not include all pegs which are located on the rail network.NOTE: Records with 'Y' in the Needscheck field are the ones still needing to be checked.

    Description

Geolocated schematic representation of the current equipment of the Infrabel network with ETCS or equivalent. The ETCS (European Train Control System) is an automatic European safety system that greatly reduces the risk of a train passing at red signal. Excessive speed, which is the cause of many train accidents, also becomes virtually impossible. Both the train and the infrastructure must be equipped with ETCS. Infrabel has an ETCS Masterplan, which aims to deploy ETCS on the entire railway network. The ambition is that every trains in Belgium will only run with ETCS by the end of 2025. The Masterplan indicates which railway line will be equipped with ETCS and at which level. There are indeed several ETCS levels and Infrabel has chosen to implement a combination of the following levels: ETCS 1 LS (Limited Supervision)The driver's cab of the train receives information about signals and speed limits through waves emitted by fixed beacons installed on the tracks. The driver does not see this information, he relies on the signalisation on the train's route but if he makes a mistake, the system intervenes and brakes the train. ETCS 1 FS (Full Supervision)The driver's cab of the train receives information about signals and speed limits through waves emitted by fixed beacons installed on the tracks. And this information is visible from the driver's seat. ETCS 2 FS (Full Supervision)Information about signals and speed limits is no longer provided by the beacons on the route but by GSM-R masts along the tracks. The train driver can rely only on the information he receives continuously in his driver's cab. ETCS1+2 FS (Full Supervision)The train driver receives signal and speed information in the driver's cab. The information comes either from the beacons or from the GSM-R masts. This system is installed on high-speed lines 3 (to Germany) and 4 (to the Netherlands). TVM-430 (Transmission Voies-Machine) This is a French system implemented only on high-speed line 1 between Lembeek and the French border. The operation is similar to ETCS. The driver's cab picks up a signal transmitted by the tracks, informing the driver of his speed in relation to the authorised speed limit.

The federal government and the European Union support the implementation of ETCS on the Belgian railway network by granting subsidies. ETCS level 1 Full Supervision : Deployment on Corridor C (freight axis from the port of Antwerp via Leuven and Namur to Athus) Deployment on line 10 and line 36C/2 Deployment on section Ans-Angleur, line 36/37 ETCS level 2 ETCS niveau 2 Full Supervision : Deployment of a generic design including on the pilot line Deinze - Waregem Deployment on line 12 section Kapellen-Essen Deployment on line 162 section Libramont-Autelbas Deployment on line 59 section Beveren-Berchem Deployment on line 16 section Lier-Aarschot Deployment on line 50A section Bruges - Ghent-Saint-Pierre Deployment on line 35 section Aarschot-Leuven
