The Government of PNG through the National Executive Council (NEC) Decision No. 135/2010 deliberated on the lack of core statistics for informed decision-making and evidence-based planning and as a result directed relevant Government departments responsible for producing and using statistics to develop a National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) for the country.
The PNGSDS will strengthen the Papua New Guinea Statistical System and support PNG’s development agenda through evidence-based process. It is a cycle that will have two midterm reviews before a major review in 2027.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) was established with the Statistics Act of 2007 and the merger of the Federal Office of Statistics (FOS) and the National Data Bank (NDB). Nigeria has a Federal System of government with 36 States and a Federal Capital Territory and 774 Local Government Areas. Each Federal Ministry, Department and Agency has a Director of Statistics. Each state has a Director of Statistics and a Head of statistics Unit at the Local Government level. These and the Statistical Institutes constitute Nigeria's National Statistical System (NSS) which is coordinated by the NBS. The Nigeria National Data Archive was established to: Promote best practice and international standards for the documentation of microdata amongst data producers in the country Provide equitable access to microdata in the interest of all citizens Ensure the long term preservation of microdata and the related metadata, and their continued viability and usability The Data Archive holds NBS datasets from 1999 to the current year.

National statistical systems are facing significant challenges. These challenges arise from increasing demands for high quality and trustworthy data to guide decision making, coupled with the rapidly changing landscape of the data revolution. To help create a mechanism for learning amongst national statistical systems, the World Bank has developed improved Statistical Performance Indicators (SPI) to monitor the statistical performance of countries. The SPI focuses on five key dimensions of a country’s statistical performance: (i) data use, (ii) data services, (iii) data products, (iv) data sources, and (v) data infrastructure. This will replace the Statistical Capacity Index (SCI) that the World Bank has regularly published since 2004.
The SPI focus on five key pillars of a country’s statistical performance: (i) data use, (ii) data services, (iii) data products, (iv) data sources, and (v) data infrastructure. The SPI are composed of more than 50 indicators and contain data for 186 countries. This set of countries covers 99 percent of the world population. The data extend from 2016-2023, with some indicators going back to 2004.

This file contains the National Statistics UPRN Lookup (NSUL) for Great Britain as at February 2025. The NSUL relates the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) for each GB address from AddressBase® Epoch 116 to a range of current statutory administrative, electoral, health and other statistical geographies via 'best-fit' allocation from 2021 Census output areas (National Parks and Workplace Zones are exempt from 'best-fit' and use 'exact-fit' allocations). The NSUL is produced by ONS Geography, who provide geographic support to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and geographic services used by other organisations. The NSUL is issued every 6 weeks and is designed to complement the Ordnance Survey AddressBase® product. The Small Area Boundaries were created with the following credentials. National boundary dataset. Consistent sub-divisions of an ED. Created not to cross some natural features. Defined area with a minimum number of GeoDirectory building address points. Defined area initially created with minimum of 65 – approx. average of around 90 residential address points. Generated using two bespoke algorithms which incorporated the ED and Townland boundaries, ortho-photography, large scale vector data and GeoDirectory data. Before the 2011 census they were split in relation to motorways and dual carriageways. After the census some boundaries were merged and other divided to maintain privacy of the residential area occupants. They are available as generalised and non generalised boundary sets in the ITM projection. This dataset is provided by Tailte Éireann
