Young people from the Chinese (4.5%) and Indian (7.3%) ethnic groups were less likely than the UK average (11.5%) to be not in employment, education or training.

The global NEET rate (people not in education, employment, or training) among youth decreased from 2005 to 2012, before stabilizing since. In 2023, it stood at **** percent of youth between 15 and 24 years that were neither in education, employment, nor training.

In 2022, the female youth NEET rate across South Asia amounted to approximately ** percent. In contrast, the share of NEETs among male South Asian youth stood at around ** percent. The acronym NEET refers to people that are currently not in education, employment, or training.

In 2023, more than **** percent of ** to 29-year-olds in Finland were neither in education, employment nor training (NEET), the highest of the five Nordic countries. On the other hand, the NEET rate in Sweden and Iceland was only below *** percent, the lowest of the five countries.

Approximately one out of every five Brazilians aged 15-to-24 years old were neither in employment nor education or training (NEET) in 2023. This represented a decreased compared to the previous year, when the youth NEET rate stood at around 21 percent.

Japan was the country with the lowest NEET rate (people not in education, employment, or training) among youth worldwide as of 2022, reaching *** percent, with the Netherlands right behind. Europe and Central Asia were the world regions with the lowest youth NEET rate.

In 2023, 16.1 percent of 15 to 29-year-old's in Italy were not in education, employment, or training (NEET). The largest share of Italian NEETs was recorded between 2013 and 2015, when about 26 percent of 15 to 29-year-olds were neither studying nor working. Since then, a steady decline has begun, particularly marked since 2021.

As of 2023, India had the highest NEET rate (people not in education, employment, or training) among young women, reaching over 38 percent. On the other hand, Japan had the lowest female youth NEET rate of the G20 members. It also had the lowest male youth NEET rate, whereas South Africa had the highest among men.
