This dataset provides the latest reported value for - Netherlands Gasoline Prices - plus previous releases, historical high and low, short-term forecast and long-term prediction, economic calendar, survey consensus and news.

Retail prices for unleaded 95 Octane fuel in the Netherlands averaged **** euros per liter on July 1, 2024. This was an increase of some four euro cents compared to the previous year. In 2022, fuel prices were severely affected by rising crude oil costs following supply constraints.

This table shows the average prices paid for natural gas and electricity. The total prices represent the sum of energy supply prices and network prices.

The total price is the price paid by an end-user, for instance a household or an industrial company consuming energy in their production process. Natural gas used for non-energy purposes or for electricity generation is excluded from the data.

The price cap set by the Dutch government for 2023 has now been incorporated into the prices.

On average, the price of natural gas for industry has been higher for facilities with a consumption of up to 100,000 gigajoules in the Netherlands. Between 2013 and 2016, consumption tariff rates decreased annually. However, since 2019, prices increased, with the price for those with a consumption of up to 100,000 gigajoule rising to **** euro cents per kilowatt hour in 2021. Residential pricesNatural gas prices for households in the Netherlands with a consumption of ** to *** GJ a year have seen the overall price increase since 2010. By the second half of 2018, prices including all taxes, levies and VAT had reached *** euro cents per kilowatt hour. As of October 2021, residential end users gas prices in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam stood at ***** euro cents per kilowatt hour.Domestic demandNatural gas consumption in the Netherlands amounted to **** billion cubic meters in 2021. From 2015 onwards, the country has seen an increase in demand. This has occurred alongside the recent decline in the natural gas production. This fall in production is due to the cut in output from the Groningen gas field.

Weighted average monthly prices are published of petrol Euro95, diesel oil and LPG including VAT and excise duties. A breakdown is provided of prices on the highway, and at local manned and local unmanned petrol stations. These prices are published once a month.

Dutch TTF gas futures amounted to **** euros per megawatt hour on July 28, 2025 for contracts with delivery in August 2025. Figures decreased compared to the previous week. Dutch TTF is seen as a Europe-wide natural gas price benchmark. Europe more reliant on imports The Groningen gas field is the largest gas field in Europe and the major natural gas source in the Netherlands. In 2014, the first earthquake related to drilling the field occurred, and other seismic activities were also observed. Therefore, the Groningen field has drastically reduced its production output. Since then, natural gas production in the Netherlands has been in a trend of continuous decline. To balance the diminished domestic production, the European market relies on liquefied natural gas imports and pipeline inflow. LNG pricing across European regions The European gas market exhibits regional variations, as evidenced by LNG prices in different parts of the continent. The Southwest Europe LNG price is generally slightly higher than LNG prices in Northwest Europe. The latter reached around ** U.S. dollars per million British thermal units in late July 2025.

Despite fluctuating, the price of diesel fuel per liter in the Netherlands has seen an overall increase since the year 2000. In that year, the average price amounted to ** euro cents per liter. By 2021 this had increased to **** euros. In comparison, the price per liter of unleaded ** octane fuel was **** euros in the same year. TaxationThe average price for a liter of diesel before taxation in the Netherlands was **** British pounds per liter in 2018. More than half of the total price was from taxes at **** British pounds. This was one of the highest taxations on the fuel in the European Union, with only eight other countries paying more. Diesel sales fall The number of newly registered passenger diesel cars has seen a significant decline since 2015. In that year there were approximately *** thousand registered in the Netherlands, but the following year this fell to just ******. In 2017 the number fell further and amounted to ******, signaling a shift away from this type of vehicle. By 2020, diesel cars predating 2005 will be banned from entering the A10 ring road area around the Dutch capital in a bid to curb air pollution, with a complete diesel ban scheduled for 2030.

Over the past month, TTF Gas's price has risen 4.18%, but it is still 4.49% lower than a year ago, according to trading on a contract for difference (CFD) that tracks the benchmark market for this commodity. The average monthly price for natural gas in the United States amounted to **** nominal U.S. dollars per million British thermal units (Btu) in May 2025. By contrast, natural gas prices in Europe were about three times higher than those in the U.S. Prices in Europe tend to be notably higher than those in the U.S. as the latter benefits from being a major hydrocarbon producer. Europe's import reliance European prices for natural gas rose most notable throughout the second half of 2021 and much of 2022, peaking at over ** U.S. dollars per million Btu in August 2022. The sharp rise was due to supply chain issues and economic strain following the COVID-19 pandemic, which was further exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. As a result of the war, many countries began looking for alternative sources, and Russian pipeline gas imports to the European Union declined as a result. Meanwhile, LNG was a great beneficiary, with LNG demand in Europe rising by more than ** percent between 2021 and 2023. How domestic natural gas production shapes prices As intimated, the United States’ position among the leaders of worldwide natural gas production is one of the main reasons for why prices for this commodity are so low across the country. In 2023, the U.S. produced more than ************ cubic meters of natural gas, which allays domestic demand and allows for far lower purchasing prices.

The retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the Netherlands stood at ** euro cents on July 1, 2024. This figure represents a slight increase of less than one euro cent in comparison to the previous year. Often referred to as autogas when used as a fuel for motor vehicles, LPG generally has a lower energy density than petrol or fuel oil. Compared to the price of unleaded 95 octane fuel, LPG is significantly cheaper. LPG cars have lower average purchase price In regard to the average purchase price of new passenger cars, LPG-fueled vehicles tend to be the cheapest option for drivers in the Netherlands. Diesel cars are among the most expensive out of all petroleum-fueled vehicles, with prices more than ***** times those for LPG cars. Netherlands among EU countries with highest fuel prices The Netherlands generally has some of the highest fuel prices in the European Union. In June 2023, the average price for gasoline was above *** euros per liter. This put the Netherlands ahead of neighboring Germany, but below other large car markets Italy and France, which were even more expensive. Fuel prices are primarily determined by crude oil prices and crude availability in addition to subsidies and taxes that may be imposed.

In March 2021, average diesel price was at 120.6 British pence per liter. In the period of consideration, figures increased despite some oscillation. Monthly prices of diesel in the Netherlands peaked at 125.4 British pence per liter in October 2018.
