In Connecticut, Illinois, and New Hampshire, the Redistricting Data Program (RDP) participant did not define the CDs to cover all of the state or state equivalent area. In these areas with no CDs defined, the code "ZZ" has been assigned, which is treated as a single CD for purposes of data presentation. The TIGER/Line shapefiles for the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) each contain a single record for the non-voting delegate district in these areas. The boundaries and numbers shown for the congressional districts are those specified in the state laws or court orders establishing the districts within each state.
Congressional districts for the 108th through 112th sessions were established by the states based on the result of the 2000 Census. Congressional districts for the 113th through 115th sessions were established by the states based on the result of the 2010 Census. Boundaries are effective until January of odd number years (for example, January 2015, January 2017, etc.), unless a state initiative or court ordered redistricting requires a change. All states established new congressional districts in 2011-2012, with the exception of the seven single member states (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming).
For the states that have more than one representative, the Census Bureau requested a copy of the state laws or applicable court order(s) for each state from each secretary of state and each 2010 Redistricting Data Program state liaison requesting a copy of the state laws and/or applicable court order(s) for each state. Additionally, the states were asked to furnish their newly established congressional district boundaries and numbers by means of geographic equivalency files. States submitted equivalency files since most redistricting was based on whole census blocks. Kentucky was the only state where congressional district boundaries split some of the 2010 Census tabulation blocks. The Census Bureau entered this information into its geographic database and produced tabulation block equivalency files that depicted the newly defined congressional district boundaries. Each state liaison was furnished with their file and requested to review, submit corrections, and certify the accuracy of the boundaries.
Following each census, Detroit City Council is required by the 2012 Detroit City Charter to redraw the boundaries of the City's seven non at-large districts to be "as nearly of equal population as practicable, contiguous, compact and in accordance with any other criteria permitted by law" (Sec. 3-108). After considering six district boundary proposals meant to meet these criteria, City Council selected the boundaries described in this document by an 8-1 vote on February 6, 2024. These boundaries will be used to determine resident districts when voting in 2025 municipal elections, and will officially take effect January 1, 2026.

This dataset contains the New Mexico House District Boundaries as of July 2006. It is in a vector digital shapefile created to show the voting precinct coverage for New Mexico and the scale is unknown. The source software was shapefile provided by the Office of the NM Secretary of State. The precinct map was obtained from the NM Secretary of State's office as a composite of the voting precincts and the house and senate legislative boundaries, and then dissolved on the house attribute.

The National Center for Education Statistics’ (NCES) Education Demographic and Geographic Estimates (EDGE) program develops annually updated school district boundary composite files that include public elementary, secondary, and unified school district boundaries clipped to the U.S. shoreline. School districts are special-purpose governments and administrative units designed by state and local officials to organize and provide public education for local residents. District boundaries are collected for NCES by the U.S. Census Bureau to support educational research and program administration, and the boundaries are essential for constructing district-level estimates of the number of children in poverty.The Census Bureau’s School District Review Program (SDRP) (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/sdrp.html) obtains the boundaries, names, and grade ranges from state officials, and integrates these updates into Census TIGER. This layer serves as the authoritative geographic data source for all school district area boundaries in California. School districts are single purpose governmental units that operate schools and provide public educational services to residents within geographically defined areas. Agencies considered school districts that do not use geographically defined service areas to determine enrollment are excluded from this data set. In order to view districts represented as point locations, please see the "California School District Offices" layer. The school districts in this layer are enriched with additional district-level attribute information from the California Department of Education's data collections. These data elements add meaningful statistical and descriptive information that can be visualized and analyzed on a map and used to advance education research or inform decision making.School districts are categorized as either elementary (primary), high (secondary) or unified based on the general grade range of the schools operated by the district. Elementary school districts provide education to the lower grade/age levels and the high school districts provide education to the upper grade/age levels while unified school districts provide education to all grade/age levels in their service areas. Boundaries for the elementary, high and unified school district layers are combined into a single file. The resulting composite layer includes areas of overlapping boundaries since elementary and high school districts each serve a different grade range of students within the same territory. The 'DistrictType' field can be used to filter and display districts separately by type.Boundary lines are maintained by the California Department of Education (CDE) and are effective in the 2023-24 academic year . The CDE works collaboratively with the US Census Bureau to update and maintain boundary information as part of the federal School District Review Program (SDRP). The Census Bureau uses these school district boundaries to develop annual estimates of children in poverty to help the U.S. Department of Education determine the annual allocation of Title I funding to states and school districts.
