About this dataset

Context

The dataset tabulates the population of New Mexico by race. It includes the population of New Mexico across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of New Mexico across relevant racial categories.

Key observations

The percent distribution of New Mexico population by race (across all racial categories recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau): 53.62% are white, 2.11% are Black or African American, 9.52% are American Indian and Alaska Native, 1.71% are Asian, 0.10% are Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, 12% are some other race and 20.94% are multiracial.
