    Description

Publication Date: April 2025 2024 Parcel Data. Updated annually, or as needed. The data can be downloaded here: https://gis.ny.gov/parcels#data-download. This feature service has two layers: 1) NYS Tax Parcels Public, and 2) NYS Tax Parcels Public Footprint which contains polygons representing counties for which tax parcel polygons are available in the NYS Tax Parcels Public layer. County footprint polygons display when zoomed out beyond 1:37,050-scale. Tax parcel polygons display when zoomed in below 1:37,051-scale. The NYS Tax Parcels Public layer contains 2024 parcel data only for NY State counties which gave NYS ITS Geospatial Services permission to share this data with the public. Work to obtain parcel data from additional counties, as well as permission to share the data, is ongoing. To date, 36 counties have provided Geospatial Services permission to share their parcel data with the public. Parcel data for counties which do not allow Geospatial Services to redistribute their data must be obtained directly from those counties. Geospatial Services' goal is to eventually include parcel data for all counties in New York State. Parcel geometry was incorporated as received from County Real Property Departments. No attempt was made to edge-match parcels along adjacent counties. County attribute values were populated using 2024 Assessment Roll tabular data the NYS ITS Geospatial Services obtained from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance’s Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS). Tabular assessment data was joined to the county provided parcel geometry using the SWIS & SBL or SWIS & PRINT KEY unique identifier for each parcel. Detailed information about assessment attributes can be found in the ORPTS Assessor’s Manuals available here: https://www.tax.ny.gov/research/property/assess/manuals/assersmanual.htm. New York City data comes from NYC MapPluto which can be found here: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/planning/data-maps/open-data/dwn-pluto-mappluto.page. Thanks to the following counties that specifically authorized Geospatial Services to share their GIS tax parcel data with the public: Albany, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Cortland, Erie, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Lewis, Livingston, Montgomery, NYC- Bronx, NYC- Kings (Brooklyn), NYC- New York (Manhattan), NYC- Queens, NYC- Richmond (Staten Island), Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orange, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Schuyler, St Lawrence, Steuben, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, Wayne, and Westchester. Geometry accuracy varies by contributing county. This map service is available to the public. This layer contains parcels data for Oswego County, NY as taken from the current digitized version of the county tax maps. Originally drawn by Stewart Mapping Services, Inc of San Antonio Texas in 1975, but with digital topology corrected by Oswego County's Department of Real Property Tax Services from 1996-present. Contains taxable parcels attributed with assessment data taken from local assessment rolls.Geography is based upon the taxable status date of March 1st, 2025. Assessment attributes are from the latest final assessment roll (2024) except ownership which is updated bi-monthly on Fridays to reflect the most current owners of record. Click here to retrieve a data dictionary for decoding fields.Note: The original tax maps that these files were digitized from only had an accuracy between 10-20 feet on ground. While every effort is made to maintain this geographic data in an accurate format, the lines drawn from this data are fundamentally informational in nature and are not equivalent to survey grade. Geoprocessing has been applied to this specific web layer to allow faster drawing of lines which can further degrade the accuracy of their geometry. Finally, these parcels are used to create county tax maps which have the sole use case of giving assistance for local municipal assessors in the fulfillment of their duties, there is no warranty (expressed or implied) for any other use.

    Description

This dataset represents a compilation of data from various government agencies throughout the City of New York. The underlying geography is derived from the Tax Lot Polygon feature class that is part of the Department of Finance's Digital Tax Map (DTM). The tax lots have been clipped to the shoreline, as defined by NYCMap planimetric features. The attribute information is from the Department of City Planning's PLUTO data. The attribute data pertains to tax lot and building characteristics and geographic, political and administrative information for each tax lot in New York City. The Tax Lot Polygon feature class and PLUTO are derived from different sources. As a result, some PLUTO records do not have a corresponding tax lot in the Tax Lot polygon feature class at the time of release. These records are included in a separate non-geographic PLUTO Only table. There are a number of reasons why there can be a tax lot in PLUTO that does not match the DTM; the most common reason is that the various source files are maintained by different departments and divisions with varying update cycles and criteria for adding and removing records. The attribute definitions for the PLUTO Only table are the same as those for MapPLUTO. DCP Mapping Lots includes some features that are not on the tax maps. They have been added by DCP for cartographic purposes. They include street center 'malls', traffic islands and some built streets through parks. These features have very few associated attributes. To report problems, please open a GitHub issue or email DCPOpendata@planning.nyc.gov.DATES OF INPUT DATASETS:Department of City Planning - E-Designations: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Zoning Map Index: 7/31/2019Department of City Planning - NYC City Owned and Leased Properties: 11/15/2020Department of City Planning - NYC GIS Zoning Features: 2/5/2021Department of City Planning - Polictical and Administrative Districts: 11/17/2020Department of City Planning - Geosupport version 20D: 11/17/2020Department of Finance - Digital Tax Map: 1/30/2021Department of Finance - Mass Appraisal System (CAMA): 2/10/2021Department of Finance - Property Tax System (PTS): 2/6/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Historic Districts: 2/4/2021Landmarks Preservation Commission - Individual Landmarks: 2/4/2021Department of Information Telecommunications & Technology - Building Footprints: 2/10/2021Department of Parks and Recreation - GreenThumb Garden Info: 1/4/2021

    Description

The objective of this data collection was to examine inequalities of wealth and the geographic distribution of wealthy individuals in late 18th- and early 19th-century New York and to investigate wealth in relationship to occupation and location. For this study, the entire set of tax assessment records and United States Census records for New York City were computerized and occupational status was added for all entries. The collection addresses topics such as social class structure, demographic factors, occupational status and geographic distribution, property values and geographic distribution, and the relationship of these factors to the political system. Units of analysis were individual property owners and renters for the tax assessment data and heads of households for the census data. Data collected included the individual's name, address, occupation, sex, and race, the type, quantity, and value of real and personal property, and the type and occupancy of the structure at the address. Occupational data from city directories were used to supplement the tax and census data.

    Description

Please note: this data is updated as of 2025.Overview of the Data:The operational purpose of the tax parcel data set is to facilitate the calculation and collection of property taxes. Each publicly or privately owned property in the city of Rochester has an official tax parcel record. This feature layer shows the polygon boundaries for each of the over 65,000 tax parcels in the city, along with several fields from their parcel records that detail information about the property, including ownership, property type, and assessed values. How does the tax map system work in New York State? What does Section, Block, Lot refer to?Each county in the state has a tax map that includes all of the parcels in each of its cities, towns, and villages. The county tax map is subdivided into sections of even, modular units that are 8,000 feet by 12,000 feet. Each of these sections are then subdivided into blocks of up to 100 parcels. Blocks are typically formed by following natural boundaries (i.e., roads, rivers, railroad tracks). Lot numbers are assigned to each parcel in a block following a set pattern according to their location on the map. Each parcel is thus assigned a Section, Block, Lot (SBL) number for identification and tax administration purposes. For more information on this identification system, please see the General Guide for Tax Mapping in New York State, put out by the Property Tax Assessment Administration.Related Resources:For a searchable interactive mapping application, please visit the City of Rochester's Property Information explorer tool. For further information about the city's property tax assessments, please contact the City of Rochester Assessment Bureau. Description

The Unpublished Digital Bedrock Geologic-GIS Map of Gateway National Recreation Area and Vicinity, New Jersey and New York is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables in a 10.1 file geodatabase (gwbr_geology.gdb), a 10.1 ArcMap (.MXD) map document (gwbr_geology.mxd), individual 10.1 layer (.LYR) files for each GIS data layer, an ancillary map information (.PDF) document (gate_geology.pdf) which contains source map unit descriptions, as well as other source map text, figures and tables, metadata in FGDC text (.TXT) and FAQ (.HTML) formats, and a GIS readme file (gwbr_gis_readme.pdf). Please read the gwbr_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the file geodatabase and other map files. To request GIS data in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format contact Stephanie O’Meara (stephanie.omeara@colostate.edu; see contact information below). The data is also available as a 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. Google Earth software is available for free at: http://www.google.com/earth/index.html. Users are encouraged to only use the Google Earth data for basic visualization, and to use the GIS data for any type of data analysis or investigation. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Division funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRI digital dataset were provided by the following: New Jersey Geological Survey and New York State Museum. Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRI product are listed in the Source Citation section(s) of this metadata record (gwbr_metadata_faq.html; available at http://nrdata.nps.gov/geology/gri_data/gis/gate/gwbr_metadata_faq.html). Users of this data are cautioned about the locational accuracy of features within this dataset. Based on the source map scale of 1:100,000 and United States National Map Accuracy Standards features are within (horizontally) 127 meters or 416.7 feet of their actual location as presented by this dataset. Users of this data should thus not assume the location of features is exactly where they are portrayed in Google Earth, ArcGIS or other software used to display this dataset. All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRI Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.3. (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 18N, however, for the KML/KMZ format the data is projected upon export to WGS84 Geographic, the native coordinate system used by Google Earth. The data is within the area of interest of Gateway National Recreation Area.

The State of New York, acting through the New York State Office of Information Technology Services, makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, with respect to the use of or reliance on the Data provided. The User accepts the Data provided “as is” with no guarantees that it is error free, complete, accurate, current or fit for any particular purpose and assumes all risks associated with its use.
