The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) 2023 Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs) are a way to view roadways in a line format. The SLD network presents approximately 12,528 miles of State (Interstate, US and NJ numbered roads), National Highway System (NHS), Surface Transportation Program (STP) and all County routes.

The South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) covering Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties in southern New Jersey. Formed in 1993, SJTPO serves as a technical resource, provides access to funding, and works to provide a regional approach to address transportation planning and engineering issues. The Right Angle Pedestrian Intersection layer was created using the latest published NJDOT Roadway Network File (RNF) as it coincides with the NJDOT Straight Line Diagram (SLD) Database. The intersection points were identified by utilizing the NJDOT SLD Database pt_int_junction table which identifies every intersection point within New Jersey. The data was filtered to only include intersections in the SJTPO region. All intersections where one or more routes were under state jurisdiction or whose SRIs were a state route were not included. A 250-foot buffer was created around each intersection centroid. Attributes were gathered using the latest aerial imagery available (NJGIN Natural Color 2020 WMS Aerial Imagery or Google Maps) and Google Street View imagery. The project began in October 2023 and was completed by April 2024.More information of the data collection effort can be found here.
