    Description

Noise mapping allows the characterization of environmental variables, such as noise pollution or soundscape, depending on the task. Strategic noise mapping (as per Directive 2002/49/EC, 2002) is a tool intended for the assessment of noise pollution at the European level every five years. These maps are based on common methods and procedures intended for human exposure assessment in the European Union that could be also be adapted for assessing environmental noise pollution in natural parks. However, given the size of such areas, there could be an alternative approach to soundscape characterization rather than using human noise exposure procedures. It is possible to optimize the size of the mapping grid used for such work by taking into account the attributes of the area to be studied and the desired outcome. This would then optimize the mapping time and the cost. This type of optimization is important in noise assessment as well as in the study of other environmental variables. This study compares 15 models, using different grid sizes, to assess the accuracy of the noise mapping of the road traffic noise at a landscape scale, with respect to noise and landscape indicators. In a study area located in the Manzanares High River Basin Regional Park in Spain, different accuracy levels (Kappa index values from 0.725 to 0.987) were obtained depending on the terrain and noise source properties. The time taken for the calculations and the noise mapping accuracy results reveal the potential for setting the map resolution in line with decision-makers' criteria and budget considerations.

    Description

Strategic noise map for the city of Ghent concerning industry according to RL 2002/49/EC. The reference year of these dates is 2021. The sound card shows how much sound the environment is exposed. Noise pollution will be expressed in the parameter Lden. The Lden level is a weighted annual average sound pressure level over the 24 hours at which the evening and night levels are relatively heavier, which corresponds to the Noise levels in the evening and at night are usually More annoying is experienced. European research shows that a Lden is a relatively good predictor of the extent to which local residents may be inconvenienced. These noise maps are Updated every 5 years.

Noise zones where the indicator Ln (night) exceeds the limit value of 62 dB(A) for roads with annual traffic exceeding 3 million vehicles in Finistère.

N_BRUIT_ZBR_INFRA_C_LN62_S_029 This layer is part of a set of 12 layers concerning noise mapping of the Finistère road network, third deadline, pursuant to Articles R 572-1 et seq. of the Environmental Code. — 5 layers of 24-hour exposure ranging from 55 dB(A) to 75 dB(A) and above, in steps of 5 in 5 dB(A) in Lden — 5 layers of night exposure ranging from 50 dB(A) to 70 dB(A) and above, in steps of 5 in 5 dB(A) in Ln — 1 layer of exceedance over 24 hours: Lden > 68 dB(A) — 1 layer of overtaking at night 22h to 06:00: LN > 62 dB(A) — (This layer)

Attached hereto you will find Prefectural Decree No 2018348-0002 of 14 December 2018 establishing noise maps for road infrastructure with annual traffic exceeding 3 million vehicles, in the department of Finistère (3 rd deadline)

The purpose of these maps is to inform and sensitise the public about their exposure to noise pollution. They shall provide the competent authorities with objective diagnostic elements to underpin future actions, in particular in the areas of excessive noise exposure.

These noise maps are drawn up with harmonised indicators for all modes of transport at European level.

    — The Lden indicator: representative of the average sound level over all 24 hours of the day — Indicator Ln: representative of the average noise level for the night period from 22h to 6h — DB(A) is a unit of measurement expressing a level of intensity (decibel) weighted according to the physiological characteristics of the human ear.

There are 4 types of noise maps provided for in European Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 June 2002 on the assessment and management of environmental noise

Type A — Lden maps (day noise exposure cards) according to the Lden indicator (day, evening, night, (24 hours)). These maps show noise-exposed areas using isophone curves ranging from 55 dB(A) to 75 dB(A) and above, in steps of 5 in 5 dB(A)

Type A — Ln cards (night noise exposure cards) according to the Ln indicator (night indicator from 22h to 6h). These maps show noise-exposed areas using isophone curves ranging from 50 dB(A) to 70 dB(A) and above, in steps of 5 in 5 dB(A)

Type C cards — Lden: (cards of exceedance of limit values over 24h) Maps of areas where the Lden indicator (day, evening, night) exceeds the limit value of 68 dB(A) (concerns residential, educational and health buildings)

Type C cards — Ln: (overtaking cards of limit values at night) Zone maps or indicator Ln (night) exceeds the limit value of 62 dB(A) (concerns residential, educational and health buildings)

    Description

The data includes the calculation results of the environmental noise mapping 2022 in the metropolitan areas in Bavaria. These are all cities in Bavaria with more than 100,000 inhabitants, i.e. Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Fürth, Erlangen, Würzburg, Regensburg and Ingolstadt. In each metropolitan area, the noise from road traffic, from industrial and commercial facilities in accordance with Directive 2010/75/EU of 24.11.2010 on the integrated prevention and control of environmental pollution (Industrial Emissions Directive - IED Directive) and, where available, from tram and above-ground subway traffic recorded. The noise calculations are carried out in accordance with the "Calculation method for ambient noise from sources close to the ground (roads, railways, industry and commerce) (BUB)". The noise indices LDEN and LNight in dB(A) are used as a measure of general annoyance and as a measure of sleep disturbances. The level LDEN is an immission level averaged over 24 hours, which consists of the levels LDay, LEvening and LNight for the assessment times day (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), evening (6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) and night (22 :00-6:00 a.m.) is determined. The increased sensitivity to noise during these times is taken into account by weighting factors of 5 dB(A) for the four-hour evening time and 10 dB(A) for the eight-hour night time. The layer shows the noise pollution on main roads in the metropolitan area expressed by the noise index LDEN according to the EC environmental noise directive. Within metropolitan areas, these are all roads with an average daily traffic volume (DTV) of more than 8,200 vehicles per day.

    Description

The European Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June 2002 on the assessment and management of environmental noise aims at a harmonised assessment of exposure to noise in the Member States. It defines them as representations of data describing a noise situation according to a noise indicator, indicating exceedances of limit values, the number of persons exposed. (Article 3 of the Decree of 24 March 2006 and Article 7 of the Decree of 4 April 2006). Noise maps are not prescriptive. These are information documents that are not legally enforceable. As graphic elements, however, they can supplement a Local Planning Plan (LDP). As part of an Urban Travel Plan (UDP), maps can be used to establish baselines and target areas where better traffic management is needed. To quantify the level of noise emitted by an infrastructure over an average day, two indices are used, the Lden index and the Ln index, recommended for all modes of transport at European level: — Lden: representative indicator of the average level over all 24 hours of the day, — LN: representative indicator of the average sound level for the period 22h-6h. (medium noise equivalent night). Noise levels are assessed using digital models (computer software) incorporating the main parameters that influence noise and its propagation (traffic data, field topology, meteorological data, etc.). The noise maps thus produced are then cross-checked with the demographic data of the areas concerned in order to make an estimate of the population exposed to noise pollution. The noise level shown on the noise maps is derived from a calculation method which gives approximate values and often higher than reality (maximists) in a noise area considered critical. An in situ noise control can determine precisely the noise to which a construction and its occupants may be exposed. Noise exposure cards (only for type A cards) night. It is a map representing (for the year of preparation of the maps), the areas exposed to more than 50 decibels (A) in Ln or LNA (night). There are the right-of-way of the various noise zones ranging from 50 decibels to 70 decibels on the main road infrastructure of the department of the Pyrénées Atlantiques. The roads concerned have been selected in accordance with the Prefectural Decree approving strategic noise maps of the Land Transport Infrastructures whose annual traffic is more than 3 million vehicles in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department. Description

Data indicating the level of noise according to the strategic noise mapping of road sources within areas with a population of at least 100,000 people (agglomerations) and along major traffic routes. Lden indicates a 24 hour annual average noise level with separate weightings for the evening and night periods. Noise levels are modeled on a 10m grid at a receptor height of 4m above ground, polygons are then produced by merging neighboring cells within the following noise classes: 75.0+ dB, 70.0-74.9 dB, 65.0-69.9 dB, 60.0-64.9 dB, 55.0-59.9 dB, <54.9 dB This data is a product of the strategic noise mapping analysis undertaken in 2017 to meet the requirements of the Environmental Noise Directive (Directive 2002/49/EC) and the Environmental Noise (England) Regulations 2006 (as amended).

    Description

Noise maps showing areas that are relatively louder or quieter, measured in decibels (dB), for all road, rail, airport and industry noise in Scotland in 2021. The data represents the day-evening-night levels (Lden) which are annual average noise levels with separate weightings for the evening and night periods. Day, evening and night periods are defined as 07.00 to 19.00, 19.00 to 23.00 and 23.00 to 07.00 respectively. This includes all road sources (major and non-major), all railway sources (major and non-major), aircraft noise from airports (Aberdeen International Airport, Dundee Airport, Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow Airport) and industry sources within qualifying agglomerations (Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Falkirk and Glasgow) by means of logarithmic summation.

Scottish Ministers commissioned strategic noise mapping analysis to meet the requirements of the Environmental Noise Directive (Directive 2002/49/EC), which is legally implemented in Scotland thorough the Environmental Noise (Scotland) Regulations 2006, as amended by the Environmental Noise (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2018.

Noise maps are used to identify areas where noise levels are high and, by linking population data, estimate how many people are affected. This aids in the production of noise action plans to manage noise and reduce noise levels where appropriate.
