This spatial dataset is an output of the Natural England County & City Natural Capital Atlas project (July 2020). It shows variation in ecosystem service flow for habitats across England, based on indicators identified by NE in the 2018 Natural Capital Indicators project. The dataset comprises a hexagonal grid which summarises indicator values across the country (each unit = 5km²).
Natural Capital is an important aspect of current environmental policy and management. This dataset, in combination with the other project outputs, will support understanding of Natural Capital in England and serve as a valuable engagement tool to communicate concepts of the Natural Capital approach to a wide variety of stakeholders.

City-wide area within which permitted development rights have been removed for changes of use from C3 Dwellinghouses (family/single household occupancy dwellings) to C4 Houses in Multiple Occupation (dwellings shared by between 3 and 6 unrelated occupiers). This means that throughout the City of Nottingham it will generally be necessary to obtain planning permission for conversions from existing family/single occupancy dwellings to Houses in Multiple Occupation. Permitted development rights have been granted by Parliament and Government policy is that they should be withdrawn only in exceptional circumstances, including evidence of a real and specific threat that permitted development is likely to take place which could damage an interest of acknowledged importance.
The Government has set out its commitment to introduce a statutory brownfield register and ensure that 90% of suitable brownfield sites have planning permission for housing by 2020. The register is intended to set out information on brownfield sites which are suitable for housing development using a consistent set of information across council areas. The government requires local planning authorities in England to prepare, maintain and publish registers of previously developed (brownfield) land within their local authority boundaries. Brownfield sites that meet the relevant criteria are entered in the register, which is reviewed annually. The brownfield land register comprises all brownfield sites that Nottingham City Council has assessed as appropriate for residential development. It include sites with extant full planning permission, outline planning permission and permission in principle as well as sites without planning permission.Brownfield Land sites are areas which are or were occupied by a permanent structure, including the curtilage of the developed land (although it should not be assumed that the whole of the curtilage should be developed) and any associated fixed surface infrastructure. This excludes: land that is or has been occupied by agricultural or forestry buildings; land that has been developed for minerals extraction or waste disposal by landfill purposes where provision for restoration has been made through development control procedures; land in built-up areas such as private residential gardens, parks, recreation grounds and allotments; and land that was previously-developed but where the remains of the permanent structure or fixed surface structure have blended into the landscape in the process of time.
