The NSW Administrative Boundaries Web Service is a dynamic map of administrative and property boundaries. Administrative Areas Boundaries depict a polygon feature class within the NSW Digital Cadastral Database maintained by Spatial Services (DCS). The administrative boundaries provided through this web service includes: Counties, Suburbs, Parishes, Local Government Areas, State Forests, National Parks, State Electoral Districts.

Land use zoning details the type of land uses available that are permitted (with or without consent) or prohibited in each zone for all areas under the Local Environment Plan (LEP). Land use zoning in an LEP are grouped into the following broad categories: BUSINESS (B), ENVIRONMENT (E), INDUSTRIAL (IN), RESIDENTIAL (R), RECREATION (RE), RURAL (RU), SPECIAL (SP) and WATERWAYS (W). The LZN dataset shows the zoning of all areas designated under the LEP. Zones define the legally permitted and prohibited uses of a piece of land, determining if a lot can be used for commercial, industrial, residential or other purposes. In other words, it defines what can and cannot be built on a piece of land. The is a revision of the original 2006 dataset, metadata date 5 July 2016. The original GIS data was captured by local councils, DP&I and contractors and provided in accordance with the DP&I's Standard Requirements for GIS LEP data and Standard Technical Requirements for LEP maps. Before the LEP is notified on the NSW Legislation website, the mapping is checked by DP&I and the Parliamentary Council's Office to ensure that it is consistent with these standards. After the LEP is notified, the GIS data is quality controlled using an ISO 9001-Quality-Certified, Quality Management System and incorporated into the Statewide dataset. The Land Application data relates directly to and adopts the accuracy of its reference dataset, Land and Property Information DCDB. The GIS data may be subject to change as a part of quality control, or if the LEP is amended. Please confirm dates of respective features before use as this dataset has a large temporal extent.

Vegetation has been categorized into communities, classes and formations, with the …Show full descriptionThis dataset represents fine-scale floristic vegetation mapping within the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area. Vegetation has been categorized into communities, classes and formations, with the composition of respective vegetation species identified. Mapping was conducted by vegetation mapping ‘experts’ (NSW Department of Environment and Heritage) between September 2009 and April 2012, and was based on 3-D PLANAR modelling, aerial photography interpretation, field floristic assessment, and PATN statistical analysis. A nominal scale of use of 1:5,000 is recommended for dataset display and interpretation, as linework digitising was based on ADS40 (50cm resolution) and minimum polygon size of 0.2 ha, and was captured at screen scale of between 1:1000 and 1:1500. The map is not to be used at a property level scale or for development applications where a scale of 1:1200 or greater may be required to determine the level variation of vegetation within a property. Furthermore, DAs still need to undergo the rigour of planning laws in NSW including local assessment of impacts on flora and fauna. Overall thematic accuracy is reported at 66% (independent assessment), with OEH reviewed overall accuracy being 77% weighted by total area of each vegetation class. These map data contain a subset …Show full descriptionAbstract This data and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are represented here as originally supplied. These map data contain a subset of NSW & Commonwealth listed Critically Endangered Ecological Communities (CEEC) within NSW. This version (version 3) replaces previous versions. Version 1 only contained NSW CEECs. Further details regarding the updating of previous versions are provided under Lineage. This composite map was derived from the extraction of relevant vegetation map units contained in a variety of existing vegetation maps held in the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) VIS (Vegetation Information System) Map Catalogue. Please note that not all Listed CEECs are currently represented in this dataset. Reasons include: 1. the CEEC has not yet been mapped; 2. the CEEC has been mapped but the source data are not yet openly available (see Supplemental Information for details). Further CEECs may be added in future versions of this dataset. Note, there is no formal process in place to guarantee correction in the source maps that are transferred to this composite map product. Ecological communities are included in the critically endangered category of the Threatened Species Conservation Act, 1995, if they are facing an extremely high risk of extinction in NSW in the immediate future. Critically Endangered is also a category under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999. Purpose These data have been compiled to provide a machine readable flag for the likely occurrence of a Critically Endangered Ecological Community at a location. This data was initially complied by OEH for use in NSW Rural Fire Service planning and assessment tools, But has broader application. Dataset History Additional metadata It is expected that further CEECs will be added to these data. All source map datasets are referenced in the attribute table of this data layer. All source datasets are are identified with a VIS-ID number, and can be downloaded from the OEH Open Data Portal. The following CEECs (NSW) have not been included. Vegetation map from Coonabarabran Shire Council. Vegetation Management Plan (March 2000).; ; The composition and extent of vegetation in the Coonabarabran Shire is described and mapped at a scale of 1:50,000 onto the Shire's 25 Region Maps. This information was obtained from field traverses, plot-based data, API and State Agency resources and references. 27 communities are described with 966 species of vascular plants recorded from 118 families. 100 m transects were surveyed, as well as individual field survey and mapping of Council lands, TSRs and Crown Lands. This dataset represents fine-scale floristic vegetation mapping within eastern freehold lands of the Nambucca Local Government Area (LGA) and targeted mapping of Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC) outside public lands throughout the LGA. Vegetation has been classified into Plant community types (PCT), classes and formations, with the composition of respective vegetation species identified. Mapping was conducted by vegetation mapping ‘experts’ (NSW Office of Environment and Heritage) between 2013 and 2015, and was based on 3-D PLANAR modelling, aerial photography interpretation and field floristic assessment. Additionally, basic disturbance information is captured along with a selection of prominent weeds where identified by interpreters. Vegetation mapping and a field verification program were conducted, in two stages, for parts of the Nambucca Shire Council Local Government Area (Nambucca LGA) using high-resolution digital aerial imagery. The aim of the project was to map the vegetation and plant community types in the coastal and lowland areas of the Nambucca LGA outside National Park and State Forest Estate in order to: • Define the extent of vegetation on the valley floors, to provide a refined and accurate layer of woody and non-woody vegetation cover for private land and coastal Crown Land within the Nambucca LGA. • Delineate the potential occurrence of Threatened Ecological Communities (TECs) on freehold lands and coastal Crown Land in the Nambucca LGA (Stage 1). • Map all coastal and lowland vegetation communities on freehold land and coastal Crown Land (Stage 2). • Identify areas of the Stage 2 mapped vegetation to be used in habitat modelling for the Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). The vegetation map is suitable for use at a scale of 1:5000 and will support environmental planning and assessment at the level of local government areas and regions. The map is indicative of the vegetation and threatened ecological communities occurring within an individual property or development land area. However, it is recommended that decision making be based on further flora surveys and expert-driven site assessment to meet the requirements of the TSC Act and other planning instruments on a case-by-case basis.

Description | NSW Local Government Area is a dataset within the Administrative Boundaries Theme (FSDF). It depicts polygons of gazetted boundaries defining the Local Government Area. It contains all of the cadastral line data or topographic features which are used to define the boundaries between adjoining shires, municipalities, cities (Local Government Act) and the unincorporated areas of NSW. The dataset also contains Council Names, ABS Codes, Ito Codes, Vg Codes, and Wb Codes. Any changes that occur to the dataset should have a reference in the authority of reference feature class in the Land Parcel and Property. Features are positioned in topological alignment within the extents of the land parcel and property polygons for each Local Government Area and are held in alignment, including changes resulting cadastral maintenance and upgrades. |

One new locality ‘Kenwick Island’ has been added to the local Government area ‘Mackay Regional’ in Queensland.
There have been spatial changes(area) greater than 1 km2 to the localities ‘Nicholson’, ‘Lawn Hill’ and ‘Coral Sea’ in Queensland and ‘Calguna’, ‘Israelite Bay’ and ‘Balladonia’ in Western Australia.
An update to the NT Commonwealth Electoral Boundaries has been applied to reflect the redistribution of the boundaries gazetted on 4 March 2025.
Geoscape has become aware that the DATE_CREATED and DATE_RETIRED attributes in the commonwealth_electoral_polygon MapInfo TAB tables were incorrectly ordered and did not match the product data model. These attributes have been re-ordered to match the data model for the May 2025 release.
