    Description

This table provides information about the number of young people aged 0 to 25 living in a family on social assistance. For the demarcation of a family on social assistance, we looked at social assistance benefits under the Participation Act or social assistance-related benefits under the Income Provisions for Older and Partially Disabled Unemployed Employees Act (IOAW), the Income Provisions for Older and Partially Disabled Former Self-employed Persons Act (IOAZ), the Decree on assistance for the self-employed (Bbz) and the Work and Income Artists Act (WWIK). Payments under the Temporary Bridging Scheme for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs (Tozo) are not included in this table. The Tozo provides the self-employed with an additional living allowance and a loan for working capital to deal with liquidity problems as a result of the corona crisis. This table shows status figures (December 31 of the reference year) for young people growing up in a social assistance family or families, which can be broken down by region (e.g. municipality level), type of household and the age of the youngest child in the household. In order to show how young people in the Netherlands are doing, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The subjects are called indicators. Data available from 2007. Status of the figures The figures for all years are final. Changes as of June 17, 2022: None, this is a new table. The method for demarcating welfare families will be revised in 2021. Previously, only persons with general assistance and BBZ were taken. The new demarcation also includes the assistance-related benefits IOAZ, IOAW and WWIk. In addition, the new definition specifies more precisely that it concerns the parent of the child who receives a social assistance benefit. Previously, a person was determined to live in a particular household, regardless of position in the household. If someone in that household received a social assistance benefit, the children in the same household belong to a social assistance family. In the new demarcation, it was examined whether there is a parent-child relationship within a household and on that basis it was determined whether a child belongs to a family on social assistance. The figures have been retroactively calculated for previous years using this new demarcation. When will new numbers come out? New figures are expected in the third quarter of 2023.

    Description

Since 2015, the number of recipients of social welfare in Sweden has decreased steadily. Whereas more than 415,000 people received social welfare in Sweden in 2015, it had sunk below 300,000 in 2022. However, even though the total number of recipients has decreased, the value of the total benefits has increased since 2017.

To help people reach a reasonable standard of living

The social welfare benefits in Sweden are administered by the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen in Swedish). The aim of the benefits is to help people in need to reach a reasonable standard of living through monthly benefits. The amount of the average monthly payment was around 9,100 Swedish kronor in 2022.

Benefits in foreign and Swedish households

Looking at households with Swedish-born and foreign-born citizens, the most common group of recipients was Swedish-born single men living without children. However, when looking at couples with children, far more foreign-born citizens received social benefits.

    Description

The table provides insight into the number of people with a social security benefit. These persons may reside in the Netherlands or abroad. This concerns persons receiving a benefit for disability, unemployment, old age, social assistance and social assistance-related benefits. The number of people receiving benefits in the context of disability, unemployment assistance and assistance-related benefits are available from 2007 onwards. The number of people receiving an old-age benefit has been included in the table since 2013. It is possible for a person to claim more than one benefit. These may be benefits of the same type (for example, two benefits under the Disability Insurance Act (WAO)) or benefits of different types (such as a benefit under the Unemployment Insurance Act (WW) and a social assistance benefit). In the latter case, the person is included in both types of benefits. In the first case only once (with the WAO). In the total counts, the person is of course only counted once. From October 2021, there will be an increase in the number of WGA benefits. The cause of this is an improvement in the quality of the process, which means that a group of self-insurers that were previously missing is now included. It is not about an increase in the regular number of WGA benefits, but an increase in "persons with a WGA benefit". The people on benefits are broken down by type of benefit. The compilation of data for StatLine tables containing breakdowns by personal characteristics is always based on the most recent data from the Personal Records Database (BRP). Because different StatLine tables are updated at different times, it is possible that a different version of the BRP is used for one table than for another table. This may result in limited differences compared to other tables with the same population. In that case, the most recently published figures are the most accurate. The figures relate to the last day of the reporting month. Status of the figures: The figures may have a further provisional or final character. The monthly figures are year-end figures. The figures become final after one to two years. Changes as of: July 31, 2023 Adjusted are: - The figures with social assistance (related) benefits for the period April to June 2021 have been adjusted. The following have been added: - The more detailed provisional figures from October to December 2022. The following have become more provisional: - The provisional figures of persons receiving a disability benefit from April 2020 to September 2022 - The provisional figures of persons with a unemployment benefit from April 2020 up to and including September 2022 - The provisional figures of persons receiving social assistance (related) benefits from January up to and including September 2022 - The provisional figures for disability benefits from April 2020 up to and including September 2022 The following have become final: - The more detailed provisional figures of persons with social assistance (related) benefits from April 2020 up to and including December 2021 When will new figures be available? New figures will come in: October/November 2023

    Description

The survey charted the spiritual, physical and material welfare of people living in Finland. Respondents evaluated their health and psychosomatic symptoms. They were also asked whether something, such as their health or the size of accommodation, prevented them from having a meaningful life. Opinions on social and health care services, social security, taxes, and unemployment were probed with attitudinal statements which were partly different in questionnaires A and B. Description

The percentage of the population in the poorest quintile covered by social protection and labor programs (SPL). The indicator is estimated by dividing the number of SPL beneficiaries in the poorest quintile by the number of the population in the poorest quintile, multiplied by 100. It includes direct and indirect beneficiaries (all members of the household where at least one member receives an SPL program. The poorest quintile is generated using pretransfer per capita welfare (income or consumption); the pre-transfer welfare is generated by subtracting 50 percent of social insurance and labor market transfers and 100 percent of social assistance transfers. SPL includes social assistance programs (conditional and unconditional cash transfers, social pensions, public works programs, fee waivers and targeted subsidies, school feeding program, in-kind transfers, and other social assistance), social insurance (contributory pensions and other social insurance), and labor market programs (passive and active measures). The indicator is generated by country and then aggregated at the regional and income group levels. The source of the indicator is the Atlas of Social Protection: Indicators of Resilience and Equity (ASPIRE). ASPIRE is the World Bank's premier compilation of indicators to analyze the scope and performance of social protection programs. Developed by the Social Protection and Jobs (SPJ) Global Practice, ASPIRE provides indicators for 129 countries on social assistance, social insurance and labor market programs based on both program-level administrative data and national household survey data. ASPIRE is an ongoing project that aims to improve SPL data quality, comparability, and availability to better inform SPL policies and programs. ASPIRE also produces SPL coverage indicators for the total population and for different population groups (pre- and post-transfer income/consumption quintiles, urban and rural populations, and poor and non-poor defined by the relative and international poverty lines). These indicators are used for each SPL program captured in the survey, and for 12 standardized SPL program categories and three SPL areas. The social protection (SP) coverage indicator has the following features: - It is generated using official nationally representative household surveys. - Its target population is World Bank client countries. - Actual country coverage is 101 countries out of 144 World Bank client countries. - For a country data point, it uses the most recent survey year within a 10-year time window (2013-2022). - The indicators do not rely on imputation for missing values, nor inter- or extrapolation. - It provides the best information available despite caveats.

    Description

Social Welfare Beneficiary Statistics (SHS), Federal Statistical Office; Cantonal population statistics and municipal financial statistics, Office of Data and Statistics BLMethodical Notes The key figures of the social assistance BL are only reported for municipalities with 50 or more supported persons in the survey year. The number of designated municipalities can therefore vary from year to year.Social assistance case/assisted person counts all cases/persons who have received social assistance benefits at least once in the relevant year. A case may include several assisted people. The social assistance rate corresponds to the share of social assistance recipients in the resident population. The reference population for the calculation is the end-of-year stock of the permanent resident population according to STATPOP (Federal Statistical Office; up to 2010 the final population of the residential population last year according to cantonal population statistics).Double censusesA support unit can be supported in several cases per year. For example, if there is a change of residence. In the case of social assistance cases and assisted persons, double counts are excluded in the district and cantonstotal, but not for the new/completed cases and the newly entered/disappeared persons.CompensationsSocial assistance cases are closed if no payment has been made for more than six months. Financial statements of cases for the current year are also counted, which received a last payout in the previous year and were completed in the current year. If an application for social assistance is again submitted after a break of more than six months, a new case will be opened.Net expense from municipal financial statisticsThe net expense (expense) that benefits social assistance recipients “directly” minus the refunds received (revenue). This includes integration measures. On the other hand, the administrative burden (social service and social welfare authority) is not included in the evaluation. The costs of the federally funded asylum system are not included. Thus, the costs of those persons who are kept by the Federal Office of Statistics (SHS) are considered. The net expense will be available from 2014.
