What is data.num.edu.mn? This is the National University of Mongolia (NUM) open data catalog/portal. Since 2018, NUM has been actively developing its own open data and is making various data from official sources available to the public through this portal. This initiative is the first of its kind in Mongolia, and it is a good example and a pioneer in showing the data about its activities openly. Open data is “electronic data that anyone can freely use, reuse, and redistribute, usually with attribution and under the same terms and conditions.” The development of open data at the national level is important for supporting innovation, ensuring economic growth, creating new jobs, increasing citizen participation in government activities, improving public-private partnerships, making public services faster, more transparent, and more accessible, and increasing efficiency. The development of open data at the MNU level will OPEN UP many NEW OPPORTUNITIES, including new products and services (electronic or otherwise) using MNU data, supporting data-driven decision-making, objectively identifying the problems facing the school, improving partnerships with the school (with other universities, government agencies, business and the private sector, etc.). How is the data published? Most of the data published on this portal is published directly (automatically) from the information systems used at MNU at a certain frequency. Each data component has a certain frequency of update. For example, the names of teaching staff are approved by the order of the director at the beginning of the new academic year, as is the course schedule. Such data will be updated once a semester. In some cases, the path to the HTML and PDF data published on the official website of the National University of Mongolia num.edu.mn (or others, but with the *.num.edu.mn domain) is indicated. Data elements and data Data refers to a collection of text or numeric values that represent any event or fact, with a specific structure. For example, a single-line data may be a document that shows the position and structural unit of a teacher/employee at the National University of Mongolia, such as name, position, contact address, and work address. These single-line data are collected and combined to create data. HTML and PDF are also considered data because they are collections of text. However, A data element refers to a collection of certain relationships and related data that is packaged, named, described, and stored. For example, the data set structure, organization, and human resources of the National University of Mongolia may contain data such as structure, faculty-staff, faculty-staff-education, and faculty-staff-academic-degree. The data set is defined by metadata such as name, description, and permission to use. Metadata is "data about the data" - the basic characteristics of the data set. For example, field descriptions, when and how the record was created, the person/organization that created and processed it (the data creator), and the data format. If there is a problem with the data you are using, such as errors, omissions, or incompleteness, you can contact the publisher or responsible party of the data set electronically or by phone to make a request, and to have the data corrected and republished through the relevant information system.
