    Description

This indicator includes the high school graduation rates by district for the following districts with high schools within Champaign County: Champaign Community Unit School District #4, Fisher Community Unit School District #1, Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District #3, Rantoul Township High School District #193, St. Joseph-Ogden Community High School District #305, Tolono Community Unit School District #7, and Urbana School District #116.

Between 2010 and 2024, the graduation rates of the different districts fluctuated independently of each other, with no trend prevalent across the board. The Illinois Report Card states that there is a possible data impact on the 2020 and 2021 graduation rates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This could explain the uncharacteristically low graduation rate in Tolono District #7 in 2021 compared to previous years. However, the graduation rate in Champaign Unit #4 and Urbana District #116 increased from 2019 to 2021, and the graduation rate in St. Joseph-Ogden District #305 was the same in 2019 and 2021.

The average graduation rate across all Champaign County high schools increased from 87.7% in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic to 88.1% in 2023 when the pandemic emergency ended. This rate increased again in 2024 to 89.2%. High school graduation rates are an apt measure of pre-college academic achievement in the county, and provide context for the other indicators in the education category.

This data, along with a variety of other school district data, is available on the Illinois Report Card, an Illinois State Board of Education and Northern Illinois University website.

    Description

The pupil to teacher ratio data includes figures for both elementary and high schools in Champaign County. This indicator includes the following school districts: Champaign Community Unit School District #4, Fisher Community Unit School District #1, Gifford Community Consolidated Grade School District #188, Ludlow Community Consolidated School District #142, Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District #3, Rantoul City School District #137, Rantoul Township High School District #193, St. Joseph Community Consolidated School District #169, St. Joseph-Ogden Community High School District #305, Tolono Community Unit School District #7, and Urbana School District #116. How many pupils per teacher there are in a district can reflect a number of other conditions. We included this indicator to provide some information on classroom size and instruction.

The pupil to teacher ratio shifts slightly from year to year in most districts, but the changes are often relatively small. Most districts’ ratios hover between 15:1 and 25:1 for most or all of the measured time period, with a few districts consistently below 15:1. The average ratio for all Champaign County schools was 16:1 every year from 2008 through 2020, reaching a new low of 15:1 for three of the four years between 2021 and 2024. There is no county-wide unifying trend.

This data, along with a variety of other school district data, is available on the Illinois Report Card, an Illinois State Board of Education and Northern Illinois University website.

    Description

Overall educational attainment measures the highest level of education attained by a given individual: for example, an individual counted in the percentage of the measured population with a master’s or professional degree can be assumed to also have a bachelor’s degree and a high school diploma, but they are not counted in the population percentages for those two categories. Overall educational attainment is the broadest education indicator available, providing information about the measured county population as a whole.

Only members of the population aged 25 and older are included in these educational attainment estimates, sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS).

Champaign County has high educational attainment: over 48 percent of the county's population aged 25 or older has a bachelor's degree or graduate or professional degree as their highest level of education. In comparison, the percentage of the population aged 25 or older in the United States and Illinois with a bachelor's degree in 2023 was 21.8% (+/-0.1) and 22.8% (+/-0.2), respectively. The population aged 25 or older in the U.S. and Illinois with a graduate or professional degree in 2022, respectively, was 14.3% (+/-0.1) and 15.5% (+/-0.2).

Educational attainment data was sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates, which are released annually.

As with any datasets that are estimates rather than exact counts, it is important to take into account the margins of error (listed in the column beside each figure) when drawing conclusions from the data.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of providing the standard 1-year data products, the Census Bureau released experimental estimates from the 1-year data in 2020. This includes a limited number of data tables for the nation, states, and the District of Columbia. The Census Bureau states that the 2020 ACS 1-year experimental tables use an experimental estimation methodology and should not be compared with other ACS data. For these reasons, and because data is not available for Champaign County, no data for 2020 is included in this Indicator.

For interested data users, the 2020 ACS 1-Year Experimental data release includes a dataset on Educational Attainment for the Population 25 Years and Over.

    Description

CHILDREN_POVERTY_2013_USCB_IN.SHP is a polygon shapefile showing 2013 census data showing percentages of children in poverty for each 2013-2014 school district within Indiana. Poverty data were provided by personnel of the Indiana Business Research Center (Rachel Strange, Geodemographic Analyst, Managing Editor, IBRC), which were obtained from the Web page of the U. S. Department of Commerce, U. S. Census Bureau, titled "Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates," http://www.census.gov/did/www/saipe/data/interactive/#. Discussion of these data, which are estimates produced under the Census Bureau's Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) program, are provided at http://www.census.gov/did/www/saipe/about/index.html.The following is excerpted from metadata of the U.S. Census Bureau (2013-2014 School Districts) and also from the Web page of the SAIPE program ( http://www.census.gov/did/www/saipe/downloads/sd13/README.txt ) :"School Districts are single-purpose administrative units within which local officials provide public educational services for the area's residents. The Census Bureau obtains school district boundaries, names, local education agency codes, grade ranges, and school district levels biennially from state school officials. The Census Bureau collects this information for the primary purpose of providing the U.S. Department of Education with annual estimates of the number of children in poverty within each school district, county, and state. This information serves as the basis for the Department of Education to determine the annual allocation of Title I funding to states and school districts."The 2014 TIGER/Line Shapefiles include separate shapefiles for elementary, secondary, and unified school districts. The 2014 shapefiles contain information from the 2013-2014 school year. The 2013-2014 school districts represent districts in operation as of January 1, 2014."The elementary school districts provide education to the lower grade/age levels and the secondary school districts provide education to the upper grade/age levels. The unified school districts are districts that provide education to children of all school ages. In general, where there is a unified school district, no elementary or secondary school district exists (see exceptions described below), and where there is an elementary school district the secondary school district may or may not exist (see explanation below)."The U.S. Census Bureau's Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) program provides annual estimates of income and poverty statistics for all school districts, counties, and states. The main objective of this program is to provide estimates of income and poverty for the administration of federal programs and the allocation of federal funds to local jurisdictions. In addition to these federal programs, state and local programs use the income and poverty estimates for distributing funds and managing programs."The SAIPE program produces the following county and state estimates: Total number of people in poverty. Number of children under age 5 in poverty (for states only). Number of related children ages 5 to 17 in families in poverty. Number of children under age 18 in poverty. Median household income."

    Description

Statistical open data on LAU regions of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary (and other countries in the future). LAU1 regions are called counties, okres, okresy, powiat, járás, járási, NUTS4, LAU, Local Administrative Units, ... and there are 733 of them in this V4 dataset. Overall, we cover 733 regions which are described by 137.828 observations (panel data rows) and more than 1.760.229 data points.

This LAU dataset contains panel data on population, on age structure of inhabitants, on number and on structure of registered unemployed. Dataset prepared by Michal Páleník. Output files are in json, shapefiles, xls, ods, json, topojson or CSV formats. Downloadable at zenodo.org.

    This dataset consists of:

data on unemployment (by gender, education and duration of unemployment),

    data on vacancies,

open data on population in Visegrad counties (by age and gender),

    data on unemployment share.

    Combined latest dataset

dataset of the latest available data on unemployment, vacancies and population

dataset includes map contours (shp, topojson or geojson format), relation id in OpenStreetMap, wikidata entry code,

it also includes NUTS4 code, LAU1 code used by national statistical office and abbreviation of the region (usually license plate),

source of map contours is OpenStreetMap, licensed under ODbL
