    Measurement technique
    The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) population and (b) population as a percentage of the total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the age groups. For age groups we divided it into roughly a 5 year bucket for ages between 0 and 85. For over 85, we aggregated data into a single group for all ages.     About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the Manhattan borough population distribution across 18 age groups. It lists the population in each age group along with the percentage population relative of the total population for Manhattan borough. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Manhattan borough by age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group in Manhattan borough.

    Key observations

    The largest age group in Manhattan, New York was for the group of age 25 to 29 years years with a population of 174,954 (10.75%), according to the ACS 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. At the same time, the smallest age group in Manhattan, New York was the 80 to 84 years years with a population of 38,484 (2.36%).     The dataset tabulates the population of Brooklyn borough by race. It includes the population of Brooklyn borough across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Brooklyn borough across relevant racial categories.

It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Brooklyn borough. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Brooklyn borough by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Brooklyn borough. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Brooklyn borough.

    Measurement technique
    The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) population and (b) population as a percentage of the total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the racial categories idetified by the US Census Bureau. It is ensured that the population estimates used in this dataset pertain exclusively to the identified racial categories, and do not rely on any ethnicity classification.     About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of Bronx borough by race. It includes the population of Bronx borough across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Bronx borough across relevant racial categories.

    Key observations

    The percent distribution of Bronx borough population by race (across all racial categories recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau): 15.77% are white, 34.11% are Black or African American, 1.18% are American Indian and Alaska Native, 4.07% are Asian, 0.15% are Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander, 31.79% are some other race and 12.93% are multiracial.

    When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Description

    In the state of New York, Richmond and Rockland have the highest coronavirus case rates when adjusted for the population of a county. Rockland County had around 1,404 positive cases per 10,000 people as of April 19, 2021.

    The five boroughs of NYC With around 894,400 positive infections as of mid-April 2021, New York City has the highest number of coronavirus cases in New York State – this means that there were approximately 1,065 cases per 10,000 people. New York City is composed of five boroughs; each borough is coextensive with a county of New York State. Staten Island is the smallest in terms of population, but it is the borough with the highest rate of COVID-19 cases.

    Public warned against complacency The number of new COVID-19 cases in New York City spiked for the second time as the winter holiday season led to an increase in social gatherings. New York State is slowly recovering – indoor dining reopened in February 2021 – but now is not the time for people to become complacent. Despite the positive rollout of vaccines, experts have urged citizens to adhere to guidelines and warned that face masks might have to be worn for at least another year.

    As of 2023, all five boroughs of New York City had water service lines that were definitely or possibly made of lead. Brooklyn had the largest average share of lead/possible lead service lines (LSL), at 46 percent. Manhattan and Bronx followed with 44 and 42 percent, respectively. Lead is a neurotoxin that poses serious adverse health risks to humans. An estimated 21 percent of the New York City population may be exposed to lead-contaminated drinking water.

    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of Manhattan borough by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Manhattan borough. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Manhattan borough by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Manhattan borough. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Manhattan borough.

Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

    • Age Group: This column displays the age group for the Manhattan borough population analysis. Total expected values are 18 and are define above in the age groups section.
    • Population (Male): The male population in the Manhattan borough is shown in the following column.
    • Population (Female): The female population in the Manhattan borough is shown in the following column.
    • Gender Ratio: Also known as the sex ratio, this column displays the number of males per 100 females in Manhattan borough for each age group.
