Coming soon the collection on Open Data will grow to include information from the Digital Alteration Book (DAB) that will keep track of historical changes to the Digital Tax Map.

This feature service has two layers: 1) NYS Tax Parcels Public, and 2) NYS Tax Parcels Public Footprint which contains polygons representing counties for which tax parcel polygons are available in the NYS Tax Parcels Public layer. County footprint polygons display when zoomed out beyond 1:37,050-scale. Tax parcel polygons display when zoomed in below 1:37,051-scale. The NYS Tax Parcels Public layer contains 2024 parcel data only for NY State counties which gave NYS ITS Geospatial Services permission to share this data with the public. Work to obtain parcel data from additional counties, as well as permission to share the data, is ongoing. To date, 36 counties have provided Geospatial Services permission to share their parcel data with the public. Parcel data for counties which do not allow Geospatial Services to redistribute their data must be obtained directly from those counties. Geospatial Services' goal is to eventually include parcel data for all counties in New York State. Parcel geometry was incorporated as received from County Real Property Departments. No attempt was made to edge-match parcels along adjacent counties. County attribute values were populated using 2024 Assessment Roll tabular data the NYS ITS Geospatial Services obtained from the NYS Department of Tax and Finance’s Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS). Tabular assessment data was joined to the county provided parcel geometry using the SWIS & SBL or SWIS & PRINT KEY unique identifier for each parcel. The Zoning Tax Lot Database is a comma-separated values (CSV) file that contains up-to-date zoning by parcel. The Database includes the zoning designations and zoning map associated with a specific tax block and lot. The Database is updated on a monthly basis to reflect rezoning and corrections to the file. All previously released versions of this data are available on the DCP Website: BYTES of the BIG APPLE.

This dataset represents a compilation of data from various government agencies throughout the City of New York. The underlying geography is derived from the Tax Lot Polygon feature class that is part of the Department of Finance's Digital Tax Map (DTM). The tax lots have been clipped to the shoreline, as defined by NYCMap planimetric features. The attribute information is from the Department of City Planning's PLUTO data. The attribute data pertains to tax lot and building characteristics and geographic, political and administrative information for each tax lot in New York City.The Tax Lot Polygon feature class and PLUTO are derived from different sources. As a result, some PLUTO records do not have a corresponding tax lot in the Tax Lot polygon feature class at the time of release. These records are included in a separate non-geographic PLUTO Only table. There are a number of reasons why there can be a tax lot in PLUTO that does not match the DTM; the most common reason is that the various source files are maintained by different departments and divisions with varying update cycles and criteria for adding and removing records. The attribute definitions for the PLUTO Only table are the same as those for MapPLUTO. DCP Mapping Lots includes some features that are not on the tax maps. They have been added by DCP for cartographic purposes. They include street center 'malls', traffic islands and some built streets through parks. Historic land uses on lots that were vacant, privately owned, and zoned for manufacturing in 2009. Information came from a review of several years of historical Sanborn maps over the past 100 years.

When the SPEED 1.0 mapping application was created in 2009, OER had its vendor examine historic land use maps on vacant, privately-owned, industrially-zoned tax lots. Up to seven years of maps for each lot were examined, and information was recorded that indicated industrial uses or potential environmental contamination such as historic fill. Data for an additional 139 lots requested by community-based organizations was added in 2014. Each record represents the information from a map from a particular year on a particular tax lot at that time. Limitations of funding determined the number of lots included and entailed that not all years were examined for each lot.

This dataset compiles a comprehensive database containing 90,327 street segments in New York City, covering their street design features, streetscape design, Vision Zero treatments, and neighborhood land use. It has two scales-street and street segment group (aggregation of same type of street at neighborhood). This dataset is derived based on all publicly available data, most from NYC Open Data. The detailed methods can be found in the published paper, Pedestrian and Car Occupant Crash Casualties Over a 9-Year Span of Vision Zero in New York City. This dataset provides a machine-readable format for the data that populates the "NYC Free Tax Preparation Site Finder" map hosted on DCA's website. The dataset includes the name and address of the service provider, its hours of operation, services available, and required geo-spacial data elements used by the map. DCA's Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) DCA coordinates the City’s Annual Tax Season Initiative which offers free tax preparation services to qualifying New Yorkers. NYC Free Tax Prep sites are displayed on a map at nyc.gov/taxprep (https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/dca/TaxMap/index.html) The map is updated whenever a new site is added or an existing site changes its hours of operation or services provided. In 2016 NYC Parks contracted with the UVM Spatial Analysis Lab to use modern remote sensing and object-based image analysis to create a new wetlands map for New York City. Data inputs include Light Detection and Ranging Data, State and Federal Wetland Inventories, soils, and field data. Because the map was conservative in its wetlands predictions, NYC Parks staff improved the map through a series of desktop and field verification efforts. From June to November 2020, NYC Parks staff field verified the majority of wetlands on NYC Parks' property. The map will be opportunistically updated depending on available field information and delineations. Another dedicated field verification effort has not been planned. As of June 2021, no subsequent updates to the data are scheduled. Original field names were updated to field names that are easier to understand. This dataset was developed to increase awareness regarding the location and extent of wetlands to promote restoration and conservation in New York City. This map does not supersede U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) wetlands maps and has no jurisdictional authority. It should be used alongside NWI and NYSDEC datasets as a resource for identifying likely locations of wetlands in New York City. Mapped features vary in the confidence of their verification status, ranging from "Unverified" (meaning the feature exists in its original remotely mapped form and has not been ground truthed) to "Verified - Wetland Delineation" (meaning the boundaries and type of wetland have been verified during an official wetland delineation). Because of the rapid nature of the protocol and the scale of data collection, this product is not a subsitute for on-site investigations and field delineations. The dataset also includes broad classifications for each wetland type, e.g. estuarine, emergent wetland, forested wetland, shrub/scrub wetland, or water. Cowardin classifcations were not used given rapid verfication methods. The accuracy of the wetlands map has improved over time as a result of the verification process. Fields were added over time as necessitated by the workflow and values were updated with information, either from the field verifications, delineation reports, or desktop analysis. This is an Excel file with a list of New York City municipal buildings over 10,000 square feet by borough, block, lot, and agency, identifying each building’s energy intensity (kBtu/sq. ft.), Portfolio Manager benchmarking rating, where available, and the total GHG emissions for the calendar years 2010 & 2011.

GIS data: This data set consists of 6 classes of zoning features: zoning districts, special purpose districts, special purpose district subdistricts, limited height districts, commercial overlay districts, and zoning map amendments.

This forest patch layer was created using a 2017 high-resolution urban tree canopy map of New York City derived from LiDAR and NAIP imagery (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Environment/Tree-Canopy-Change-2010-2017-/by9k-vhck). To identify forest area, tree canopy over impervious surfaces was first subtracted from the canopy layer, including buildings and roads identified from planimetric data available from New York City (https://opendata.cityofnewyork.us/). Morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA; Vogt et al. 2007) was then used to distinguish forest patches from remaining tree canopy using an edge parameter of 15 m based on observed changes in vegetation composition and structure (Baker, unpublished data). MSPA applies the edge parameter to distinguish interiors (i.e. ‘cores’) from surrounding edges, as well as five other morphometric primitives (i.e. branches, bridges, loops, and islets) that reflect how canopy is or is not connected to cores. Patches always include core areas and their surrounding edges, as well as any perforations. Patches are separated into two size classes: Forested Natural Areas are patches with greater core area and thickness than Groves.Patches are classified by land ownership categories using local parcel data available from New York City (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/City-Government/Primary-Land-Use-Tax-Lot-Output-PLUTO-/64uk-42ks/data). Ownership categories include: Federal, State, Municipal, Commercial/Industrial, Institutional, and Private Residential owners.
