The Street_and_Address_Composite will return a geographic coordinate when a street address is entered. A user can enter an address either manually or by bulk input from a database or other source.The geocoder returns a coordinate pair and standardized address for each input address it is able to match. The NYS ITS Geospatial Services geocoder uses a series of combinations of reference data and configuration parameters to optimize both the likelihood of a match and the quality of the results. Data inputs include Light Detection and Ranging Data, State and Federal Wetland Inventories, soils, and field data. Because the map was conservative in its wetlands predictions, NYC Parks staff improved the map through a series of desktop and field verification efforts. From June to November 2020, NYC Parks staff field verified the majority of wetlands on NYC Parks' property.
The map will be opportunistically updated depending on available field information and delineations. Another dedicated field verification effort has not been planned. As of June 2021, no subsequent updates to the data are scheduled.

To provide a faithful representation of official New York State regulatory freshwater wetlands maps for GIS resource analysis at scales equal to the 1 to 24,000 scale of original mapping or smaller scales (e.g., 1 to 100,000 scale).Regulatory maps consist of mylar versions of New York State Department of Transportation 1 to 24,000 planimetric maps on which wetland boundaries and wetland identification codes are drawn. Planimetric maps are generally congruent with and have the same quad names as United States Geological Survey 7.5 minute topographic maps; a few of the Department of Transportation quads have extended borders. Regulatory wetland maps are prepared by NYSDEC and filed as required by the Freshwater Wetlands Act (Article 24 of the Environmental Conservation Law). Associated with the maps are Classification Sheets that list the Wetlands Identification Code, the municipality in which the wetland occurs and the regulatory class of each wetland. Preparation and filing dates vary by county. As amendments to the official maps occur, the coverages are updated so that the GIS information reflects the regulatory maps currently in use. Archive copies of county coverages with previous versions of the official maps are kept. An important feature of the offical maps is that the lines indicate only "the approximate location of the actual boundaries of the wetlands" (ECL Section 24-0301(3)). For a final determination of the actual location of a wetland it is necessary to contact the NYSDEC office for the region in which the wetland occurs.

It does not necessarily contain wetlands regulated by other jurisdictions or unregulated wetlands, nor does it contain tidal wetlands regulated by New York State under the Tidal Wetlands Act (ECL Article 25).This dataset was originally composed of a set of ARC/INFO coverages containing both polygonal and linear features. The Coverages are based on official New York State Freshwater Wetlands Maps as described in Article 24-0301 of the Environmental Conservation Law. Coverages are not, however, a legal substitute for the official maps. Coverages are available on a county basis for all areas of New York State outside the Adirondack Park. The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) collects and maintains several datasets on the locations, distribution and status of species of plants and animals. Information on distribution by county from the following three databases was extracted and compiled into this dataset. First, the New York Natural Heritage Program biodiversity database: Rare animals, rare plants, and significant natural communities. Significant natural communities are rare or high-quality wetlands, forests, grasslands, ponds, streams, and other types of habitats. Next, the 2nd NYS Breeding Bird Atlas Project database: Birds documented as breeding during the atlas project from 2000-2005. And last, DEC’s NYS Reptile and Amphibian Database: Reptiles and amphibians; most records are from the NYS Amphibian & Reptile Atlas Project (Herp Atlas) from 1990-1999.

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. This LiDAR dataset is a survey of areas of coastal New York, including Long Island, eastern Westchester, and the tidal extents of the Hudson River. The project area consists of approximately 950 square miles. The project design of the LiDAR data acquisition was developed to support a nominal post spacing of 1.0 meter or better (1.0 meter GSD). GMR Aerial Surveys Inc. d/b/a Photo Science, Inc. acquired 740 flight lines in 63 lifts between November 2011 and April 2012, while no snow was on the ground, rivers were at or below normal levels, no strong onshore winds, high waves, floods, or other anomalous weather conditions. Specified areas of the project were collected at a tide stage where water levels are at least 1-foot below mean sea level (MSL). This collection was a joint effort by the NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC) and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The data collection was performed with three Cessna 206 single engine aircrafts, utilizing Optech Gemini sensors; collecting multiple return x, y, and z as well as intensity data. The data were classified as Unclassified (1), Ground (2), Low Point (Noise) (7), Water (9), Breakline Edge (10), Withheld (11), Tidal Water (14), Overlap Default (17), and Overlap Ground (18), Overlap Water (25), and Overlap Tidal Water (30). Upon receipt, the NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC), for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes, converted these classifications to the following: 1 - Unclassified 2 - Ground 7 - Low Point (Noise) 9 - Water NOAA tide gauges were used as the basis for flight planning the tidally coordinated areas. Some areas were collected using tidal restraints as listed below: Tidal Wetlands and tributary mouths selected for tidal coordination at Mean Sea Level (MSL) minus 1 foot were: Rondout Creek Outlet; Vanderburg Cove, Moodna Creek, Constitution Marsh, Iona Marsh, Annsville Creek, Croton River Outlet, Marlboro Marsh, Manitou Marsh, Fishkill Creek Outlet, and Wappingers Creek Outlet. The Upper Hudson area from North of Goose Island was also collected to the same specification. Tidal Wetlands and tributary mouths selected for tidal coordination at Mean Sea Level (MSL) were: Haverstraw at Minisceongo Creek and Piedmont Marsh. The remainder of the project area had no tidal restrictions for collection. In order to post process the LiDAR data to meet task order specifications, Photo Science, Inc. established a total of 81 control points that were used to calibrate the LiDAR to known ground locations established throughout the New York project area. Trimble R8-3 GNSS receivers were used to complete the collection. Real Time Kinematic (RTK) survey methodology was typically performed using the New York State Spatial Reference Network (NYSNet), a CORS/Real Time GPS Network. Additionally, control values from various other projects completed by Photo Science in and around the project area, were used as supplemental control points to assist in the calibration of the LiDAR dataset. The dataset was developed based on a horizontal projection/datum of UTM NAD83 (NSRS2007), UTM Zone 18, meters and vertical datum of NAVD1988 (GEOID09), meters. Upon receipt, for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes, the NOAA Coastal Services Center converted the data to GRS80 Ellipsoid (GEOID09) heights, to geographic (NAD83, NSRS2007) coordinates, and from las format to laz format. LiDAR data were collected in RAW flightline swath format, processed to create Classified LAS 1.2 Files formatted to 2093 individual 750m x 750m tiles, Hydro Flattening Breaklines in Esri 1.0 meter gridded V-Datum ESRI Grid files formatted to the same 3000m x 3000m tile schema. LiDAR Data was originally delivered to NOAA/Dewberry for quality control validation under Delivery Lots 1 and 2. The lineage (data quality), positional, content (completeness), attribution, logical consistency, and accuracies of all digital elevation data produced conform to the specifications stipulated in NOAA Task Order EA133C11CQ0009 - T011.

A user can enter an address either manually or by bulk input from a database or other source.The geocoder returns a coordinate pair and standardized address for each input address it is able to match. The NYS ITS Geospatial Services geocoder uses a series of combinations of reference data and configuration parameters to optimize both the likelihood of a match and the quality of the results. The reference data supporting the geocoder is stored in Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standard.The first composite locator (Street_and_Address_Composite) is made up of the following set of locators which are most likely to return a high quality hit. The locators are listed in the order in which they will be accessed along with a brief description of the locator's source data. The location is interpolated from an address range on the street segment.3C_SS_PlaceNameNYS Street SegmentsNYS Street Segments using an alternate place name for the city field. This field is populated using the NYS Villages and Indian Reservations, the Census Designated Places and Alternate Acceptable Zip Code Names from the USPS.
