The goal of the WaterAtlas is to convert the multitude of water quality and hydrology data being collected in Florida into information that can be easily consumed and understood by the citizens within. The WaterAtlas accomplishes this through a number of interactive tools, one of the greatest being the Advanced Mapping Tool you are currently viewing! The Advanced Mapper allows users to peruse all the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data that serve as the backbone of the WaterAtlas program. Waterbodies, watersheds and sampling stations are all maintained in GIS and the spatial relationships among them are what enable all the data on the Water Atlas to be presented clearly and accurately. Supplementary data layers such as land use, seagrass, restoration projects and impaired waters are also included on the Advanced Mapper to allow users to visualize the current state of the waters within Orange County and to explore the efforts being made to promote their health. For a complete user's guide explaining the full functionality of the viewer please click here.
