Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket after playing his record-breaking 200th test match against the West Indies in November 2013. He was subsequently inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019. The leading wicket-taker of all time in men's international tests is Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. The right-arm spin bowler took 800 wickets in a test career spanning from 1992 to 2010. The highest-ranked seam bowler in the ranking is England's James Anderson, who took 700 wickets in his 20-year career. The King of Spin While Muralitharan, nicknamed Murali, tops the wicket-taking charts, it's Australia's Shane Warne who was anointed the King of Spin. The legendary leg spinner took 708 wickets for his country in 145 test matches between 1992 and 2007. One of his most famous wickets dismissed English batter Mike Gatting in June 1993 and was subsequently named the "Ball of the Century". Warne also tops the list of all-time leading wicket-takers in The Ashes, a historic Test cricket series between England and Australia held at least once every two years. One Day International wicket-takers In One Day International (ODI) games, a shorter form of cricket, Murali also claims the title of leading-wicket taker of all time. In his 350 ODIs for Sri Lanka, the spinner took 534 wickets, with a best of 7/30 in a win against India in 2000. The top scorer for India in that match was Sachin Tendulkar. Nicknamed The Little Master, Tendulkar is the leading test match run scorer of all time, as well as top of the rankings for all-time One Day International run scorers.

The Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup is a men's One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament. It was established in 1983 when the Asian Cricket Council was founded as a measure to promote goodwill between Asian countries. It was originally scheduled to be held every two years. The Asia Cup is the only continental championship in cricket and the winning team becomes the champion of Asia. It alternates every 2-years between ODI and T20I formats.
After downsizing the Asian Cricket Council in 2015, it was announced by the ICC that Asia Cup events from 2016 would be played on a rotation basis between One Day International and Twenty20 International format, based on the format of upcoming world events. As a result, the 2016 event was the first event played in the T20I format and functioned as a preparatory tournament ahead of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.
India, with seven titles (six ODI and one T20I), is the most successful team in the tournament. Sri Lanka is the second most successful team, with six.
