This file geodatabase consists of all publicly available (Open) products extracted from the Land Information Ontario (LIO) Warehouse excluding Wetlands, Contours and OHN products. This data represents the data housed in the LIO Warehouse as of the date the extraction occurred. The file geodatabase will be refreshed on a bi-weekly basis and has been prepared as a convenience to users wanting access to all LIO Warehouse Open Data products in file geodatabase structure. In southern Ontario the contour interval is 5 meters. In the near north the contour interval is 10 meters. In the Far North the contour interval depends on the information source.

    dataset_id - Identifier assigned to the item by ArcGIS Hub. For items based on a feature service this is a combination of the ArcGIS Online id and the layer number of the feature layer in the associated service. Format [agol_id]_[layer number].

    item_id - ArcGIS Online identifier associated with the item

    slug - Easy-to-read identifier for the dataset used in URLs

    url_dataset_id - Complete URL to the item using the dataset_id

    url_slug - Complete URL to the item using the slug

    item_tile - Item title

    snippet - Short description of the item

    item_type - ArcGIS Hub item type

    site - The site that the item resides in. Possible values: 'Ontario GeoHub' or 'CarrefourGéo Ontario'

This is a link to the 2010 South Western Ontario Orthophotography Project (SWOOP) imagery. This link will take you to the Ontario geoHub's web map service. SWOOP imagery is owned by the province, if you have any questions please direct them to the contact of the Ontario geoHub.

This data covers the entire Far North from 2005-2011.

The data is provided in both grid and vector formats. It is broken into layers that cover UTM zones 15, 16 and 17. Layers representing each level of the classification hierarchy described in the data specs have been provided:

The LIO Topographic Data Cache is a collection of topographic data, that has been preprocessed for fast, seamless display at predefined scales. The topographic data includes constructed and natural features that make up Ontario’s landscape. The cache provides limited data from areas outside Ontario’s boundaries, such as the United States and adjacent provinces and territories. Technical information Two versions of the LIO Topographic Data Cache are available: 1. The traditional raster version is available for a variety of GIS applications and is updated annually. 2. The vector version is suitable for online web map applications as well as modern GIS software and is updated twice a year. Contributing data layers may have different maintenance and update cycles. Some cache layers have been processed in a way that makes it easier for them to be displayed in a mapping product. Other layers are unchanged from the authoritative data. The cartographic symbology used in the data cache is intentionally muted to allow users to showcase their data. The LIO Topographic Data Cache is created from many source datasets, which are described in the LIO Topographic Data Cache user guide. If you are interested in getting this authoritative data, you can download it from the Ontario GeoHub. For instructions on getting a copy of either version of the cache for use in mapping applications, visit the Ontario GeoHub.

Features related to provincially tracked species and species at risk are not available as open data. Sensitive features are subject to licensing and approvals. Visit the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry website to get access to natural heritage information. Identifies the geographic area in which a search for one or more species was conducted through data collection and surveys. The boundaries of a Search Area may be identical to a plot, a protected area, an ecoregion, flight transect or some other defined type of location. The geometry for a Species Search Area is typically not reused. Ontario Land Cover (OLC) is a primary data layer. It provides a comprehensive, standardized, landscape level inventory of Ontario’s natural, rural and anthropogenic (human made) features.

The Geographic Names Ontario (Geonames) data set contains names and locations of geographic features and unincorporated places that have been officially named in Ontario, for identification and labelling purposes. It includes additional geographical referencing information:

This layer used to be distributed under the name "Geographic Name Extent" but was modified to "Geographic Named Extent" in November 2011.

The Ontario Point Cloud (Lidar-Derived) consists of points containing elevation and intensity information derived from returns collected by an airborne topographic lidar sensor. The point cloud is structured into non-overlapping 1 km by 1 km tiles in LAZ format. The following classification codes are applied to the data: * unclassified * ground * water * high noise * low noise This dataset is a compilation of lidar data from multiple acquisition projects, so specifications, parameters, accuracy and sensors may vary by project. This data is for geospatial tech specialists, and is used by government, municipalities, conservation authorities and the private sector for land use planning and environmental analysis. Related data: Raster derivatives have been created from the point clouds. These products may meet your needs and are available for direct download. For a representation of bare earth, see the Ontario Digital Terrain Model (Lidar-Derived). For a model representing all surface features, see the Ontario Digital Surface Model (Lidar-Derived).

Built-Up Areas are man-made land cover features, ranging from small hamlets at rural cross roads to large cities.
