    The Ontario Parcel is commercially licensed data with restricted usage.The parcels are managed by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (assessment), Teranet Enterprises Inc. (ownership), and the Ontario Government (Crown lands). The Ontario Parcel dataset is a source of assessment, ownership and Crown parcel mapping that can be used for assessment, taxation, land title/registration, as well as land use management and business planning.The Ontario Parcel (OP) consists of three data classes in geodatabase format and supporting information in CAD format:Assessment ParcelOwnership ParcelCrown ParcelOntario Parcel - Supporting Information (CAD format).See Ontario Parcel Guide (coming soon) for a comparison of the products.     The Ontario Imagery Web Map Service (OIWMS) is an open data service available to everyone free of charge. It provides instant online access to the most recent, highest quality, province wide imagery. GEOspatial Ontario (GEO) makes this data available as an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant web map service or as an ArcGIS map service. Imagery was compiled from many different acquisitions which are detailed in the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service Metadata Guide linked below. Instructions on how to use the service can also be found in the Imagery User Guide linked below. Note: This map displays the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service Source, a companion ArcGIS web map service to the Ontario Imagery Web Map Service. It provides an overlay that can be used to identify acquisition relevant information such as sensor source and acquisition date. OIWMS contains several hierarchical layers of imagery, with coarser less detailed imagery that draws at broad scales, such as a province wide zooms, and finer more detailed imagery that draws when zoomed in, such as city-wide zooms. The attributes associated with this data describes at what scales (based on a computer screen) the specific imagery datasets are visible.     Description

    This data release contains geospatial datasets that identify thermal zones across multiple reaches of four tributaries to Lake Ontario: St. Regis River, Salmon River, South Sandy Creek, and Sandy Creek. High-resolution uncrewed aircraft system (UAS)-based optical and thermal infrared imagery and ground level field observations are included. Shapefiles for each tributary reach identify thermal zones that are three, five, ten, and fifteen percent different than a reference temperature calculated as a mean along the approximate centerline of each reach.     Land identifying Indian Reserve boundaries for the Province of Ontario defined by the Legal Surveys Division of Natural Resources Canada. Does not include settlements or communities that have not been officially registered as reserves. Additional Time Period Information: The updates are based on data received from the Federal government. Updates are required whenever a Indian Reserve is either surrendered or created. The package product formerly available has been removed from circulation.There are various data sources. The original source was through the digital Ontario Base Mapping Program. Other sources include Crown Land surveys and plans in the survey records area, as well as access to the NRCan survey web site and digital information as per MOU.The majority of the boundaries were captured through the Ontario Base Mapping Program. Updates or revisions to the boundaries are captured by the use of surveys, plans, and descriptions available through Crown Survey records and the NRCan website, as well as access to NRCan's digital administrative boundary data as per signed MOU.The Indian Reserves were realigned with the Improved Geographic Township fabric and Improved Lot Fabric, as well as aligned to the land tenure fabric where applicable. Discrepancies between this data set and the NRCAN Indian Reserve data were researched and documented. In house surveys as well as NRCAN's on-line survey plans were also used to improve the reserve boundaries

    Description

    Description Digital soil mapping (DSM) is a modern approach to soil mapping that combines geo-referenced soil observations with geo-referenced environmental layers to mathematical model soil variation across a landscape as a function of environmental conditions. These Ottawa digital soil maps describe soil property variation in the Ottawa region via a collection of raster datasets. For information on how these maps were generated, please see the “DSM Summary Description” document below

    The Ottawa DSM layers are available as downloadable GeoTIFF files by following the links in the DSM Raster Directory or by clicking the links to the individual raster packages below. GeoTIFF files require spatial software to view correctly, such as ArcGIS or QGIS.

    These layers can also be visualized online and analyzed via the ArcGIS REST service (and then click on your respective soil property for the direct rest service link) or by visiting the Ontario Soils Geohub.

    For more information on the functionality of ArcGIS REST services, read the Ontario Web Raster Services User Guide. If you have questions about the data itself, please contact omafra.gis@ontario.ca

    Please note that this dataset is not an official City of Toronto land use dataset. It was created for personal and academic use using City of Toronto Land Use Maps (2019) found on the City of Toronto Official Plan website at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/official-plan-guidelines/official-plan/official-plan-maps-copy, along with the City of Toronto parcel fabric (Property Boundaries) found at https://open.toronto.ca/dataset/property-boundaries/ and Statistics Canada Census Dissemination Blocks level boundary files (2016). The property boundaries used were dated November 11, 2021. Further detail about the City of Toronto's Official Plan, consolidation of the information presented in its online form, and considerations for its interpretation can be found at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/official-plan-guidelines/official-plan/ Data Creation Documentation and Procedures Software Used The spatial vector data were created using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.0 in December 2021. The files are the following: map13.txt map14.txt map15.txt map16.txt map17.txt map18.txt map19.txt map21.txt map22.txt map23.txt The City of Toronto's Property Boundaries shapefile, "property_bnds_gcc_wgs84.zip" were unzipped and also reprojected to EPSG 26917 (UTM Zone 17) into a new shapefile, "Property_Boundaries_UTM.shp" Mosaicing Images Once georeferenced, all images were then mosaiced into one image file, "LandUseMosaic20211220v01", within the project-generated Geodatabase, "Landuse.gdb" and exported TIF, "LandUseMosaic20211220.tif" Reclassifying Images Because the original images were of low quality and the conversion to TIF made the image colours even more inconsistent, a method was required to reclassify the images so that different land use classes could be identified. Using Deep learning Objects, the images were re-classified into useful consistent colours. Deep Learning Objects and Training The resulting mosaic was then prepared for reclassification using the Label Objects for Deep Learning tool in ArcGIS Pro. A training sample, "LandUseTrainingSamples20211220", was created in the geodatabase for all land use types as follows: Neighbourhoods Insitutional Natural Areas Core Employment Areas Mixed Use Areas Apartment Neighbourhoods Parks Roads Utility Corridors Other Open Spaces General Employment Areas Regeneration Areas Lettering (not a land use type, but an image colour (black), used to label streets).     Description

    The High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) product is derived from airborne LiDAR data (mainly in the south) and satellite images in the north. The complete coverage of the Canadian territory is gradually being established. It includes a Digital Terrain Model (DTM), a Digital Surface Model (DSM) and other derived data. For DTM datasets, derived data available are slope, aspect, shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps and for DSM datasets, derived data available are shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps. The productive forest line is used to separate the northern and the southern parts of the country. This line is approximate and may change based on requirements. In the southern part of the country (south of the productive forest line), DTM and DSM datasets are generated from airborne LiDAR data. They are offered at a 1 m or 2 m resolution and projected to the UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system and the corresponding zones. The datasets at a 1 m resolution cover an area of 10 km x 10 km while datasets at a 2 m resolution cover an area of 20 km by 20 km. In the northern part of the country (north of the productive forest line), due to the low density of vegetation and infrastructure, only DSM datasets are generally generated. Most of these datasets have optical digital images as their source data. They are generated at a 2 m resolution using the Polar Stereographic North coordinate system referenced to WGS84 horizontal datum or UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system. Each dataset covers an area of 50 km by 50 km. For some locations in the north, DSM and DTM datasets can also be generated from airborne LiDAR data. In this case, these products will be generated with the same specifications as those generated from airborne LiDAR in the southern part of the country. The HRDEM product is referenced to the Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013 (CGVD2013), which is now the reference standard for heights across Canada. Source data for HRDEM datasets is acquired through multiple projects with different partners. Since data is being acquired by project, there is no integration or edgematching done between projects. The tiles are aligned within each project. The product High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) is part of the CanElevation Series created in support to the National Elevation Data Strategy implemented by NRCan. Collaboration is a key factor to the success of the National Elevation Data Strategy.     Description

    To support improved groundwater geoscience knowledge for southern Ontario, a regional 3-D model of the surficial geology of southern Ontario has been developed as a part of a collaboration between the Ontario Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Canada. Covering approximately 66,870 km2 in area, the model is a synthesis of existing geological models, surficial geology mapping, and subsurface data. The model is a simplified 9-layer reclassification of numerous mapped local surficial sediment formations in places over 200 m thick with a total volume of approximately 2,455 km3. The model integrates 1:50,000 scale surficial geology mapping with 90 m bathymetrically corrected topographic digital elevation model (DEM) and 8 existing local 3-D models. Archival subsurface data include 10,237 geotechnical and stratigraphic boreholes, 3,312 picks from geophysical surveys, 15,902 field mapping sites and sections, 537 monitoring and water supply wells and 282,995 water well records. Roughly corresponding to regional aquifer and aquitard layers, primary model layers are (from oldest to youngest): Bedrock, Basal Aquifer, Lower Sediment, Regional Till, Post Regional Till Channel Fill, Glaciofluvial Sediment, Post Regional Till Mud, Glaciolacustrine Sand and Recent Sediment / Organics. Modelling was completed using an implicit modelling application (LeapFrog®) complemented by an expert knowledge approach to data classification and rules-based Expert System procedure for data interpretation and validation. An iterative cycle of automated data coding, intermediate model construction and manual data corrections, expert evaluations, and revisions lead to the final 3-D model. A semi-quantitative confidence assessment has been made for each model layer surface based on data quality, distribution and density. This surficial geology model completes the development of a series of regional 3-D geological and hydrogeological models for southern Ontario.

    Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources, have compiled a geo-spatial soils database for Southern Ontario. The database consolidated the existing digital soil data mapped on a county basis into a digitally stitched and standardized product. The soil survey data was mapped by a number of soil surveyors from the 1920s to the 1990s. The Soil Ontario product incorporates soil information from a variety of map scales. The project has brought the individual county or regional municipality surveys together in a digitally stitched database which reveals inconsistencies in soil data across county boundaries.
