    Zoom in on the map above and click your area of interest or use the Tile Index linked below to determine which package(s) you require for download.The DTM data is available in the form of 1-km by 1-km non-overlapping tiles grouped into packages for download.This dataset is a compilation of lidar data from multiple acquisition projects, as such specifications, parameters and sensors may vary by project. See the detailed User Guide linked below for additional information. You can monitor the availability and status of lidar projects on the Ontario Lidar Coverage map on the Ontario Elevation Mapping Program hub page. Now also available through a web service which exposes the data for visualization, geoprocessing and limited download. The service is best accessed through the ArcGIS REST API, either directly or by setting up an ArcGIS server connection using the REST endpoint URL. The service draws using the Web Mercator projection. For more information on what functionality is available and how to work with the service, read the Ontario Web Raster Services User Guide.     Description

    Many Ontario lidar point cloud datasets have been made available for direct download by the Government of Canada through the federal Open Government Portal under the LiDAR Point Clouds – CanElevation Series record. Instructions for bulk data download are available in the Download Instructions document linked from that page. To download individual tiles, zoom in on the map in GeoHub and click a tile for a pop-up containing a download link.

    See the LIO Support - Large Data Ordering Instructions to obtain a copy of data for projects that are not yet available for direct download. Data can be requested by project area or a set of tiles. To determine which project contains your area of interest or to view single tiles, zoom in on the map above and click. For bulk tile orders follow the link in the Additional Documentation section below to download the tile index in shapefile format. Data sizes by project area are listed below.

    The Ontario Point Cloud (Lidar-Derived) consists of points containing elevation and intensity information derived from returns collected by an airborne topographic lidar sensor. The minimum point cloud classes are Unclassified, Ground, Water, High and Low Noise. The data is structured into non-overlapping 1-km by 1-km tiles in LAZ format.

    This dataset is a compilation of lidar data from multiple acquisition projects, as such specifications, parameters, accuracy and sensors may vary by project. Some project have additional classes, such as vegetation and buildings. See the detailed User Guide and contractor metadata reports linked below for additional information, including information about interpreting the index for placement of data orders.

    Raster derivatives have been created from the point clouds. These products may meet your needs and are available for direct download. For a representation of bare earth, see the Ontario Digital Terrain Model (Lidar-Derived). For a model representing all surface features, see the Ontario Digital Surface Model (Lidar-Derived).

    Description

    The High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) product is derived from airborne LiDAR data (mainly in the south) and satellite images in the north. The complete coverage of the Canadian territory is gradually being established. It includes a Digital Terrain Model (DTM), a Digital Surface Model (DSM) and other derived data. For DTM datasets, derived data available are slope, aspect, shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps and for DSM datasets, derived data available are shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps. The productive forest line is used to separate the northern and the southern parts of the country. This line is approximate and may change based on requirements. In the southern part of the country (south of the productive forest line), DTM and DSM datasets are generated from airborne LiDAR data. They are offered at a 1 m or 2 m resolution and projected to the UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system and the corresponding zones. The datasets at a 1 m resolution cover an area of 10 km x 10 km while datasets at a 2 m resolution cover an area of 20 km by 20 km. In the northern part of the country (north of the productive forest line), due to the low density of vegetation and infrastructure, only DSM datasets are generally generated. Most of these datasets have optical digital images as their source data. They are generated at a 2 m resolution using the Polar Stereographic North coordinate system referenced to WGS84 horizontal datum or UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system. Each dataset covers an area of 50 km by 50 km. For some locations in the north, DSM and DTM datasets can also be generated from airborne LiDAR data. In this case, these products will be generated with the same specifications as those generated from airborne LiDAR in the southern part of the country. The HRDEM product is referenced to the Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013 (CGVD2013), which is now the reference standard for heights across Canada. Source data for HRDEM datasets is acquired through multiple projects with different partners. Since data is being acquired by project, there is no integration or edgematching done between projects. The tiles are aligned within each project. The product High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) is part of the CanElevation Series created in support to the National Elevation Data Strategy implemented by NRCan. Collaboration is a key factor to the success of the National Elevation Data Strategy.     The Ontario Point Cloud (Lidar-Derived) consists of points containing elevation and intensity information derived from returns collected by an airborne topographic lidar sensor. The point cloud is structured into non-overlapping 1 km by 1 km tiles in LAZ format. The following classification codes are applied to the data: * unclassified * ground * water * high noise * low noise This dataset is a compilation of lidar data from multiple acquisition projects, so specifications, parameters, accuracy and sensors may vary by project. This data is for geospatial tech specialists, and is used by government, municipalities, conservation authorities and the private sector for land use planning and environmental analysis.     Description

    The digital elevation models (DEM) are 2 m resolution raster elevation products that were generated from the Ontario Classified Point Cloud (Imagery-Derived) data. The point clouds were created via a pixel-autocorrelation process from the stereo aerial photography of the Geospatial Ontario (GEO) imagery program. The DEM does not represent a full ‘bare-earth’ elevation surface. There are areas where there are very few points classified as ground and interpolation has occurred across the resulting voids. Points classified as ground have not been assessed for accuracy to determine if they represent true ground features. Some features are still raised above ground surface, such as larger buildings, larger forest stands and other raised features. This data is for geospatial tech specialists, and is used by government, municipalities, conservation authorities and the private sector for land use planning and environmental analysis.

    Description

    Single photon lidar light detection and ranging (SPL LiDAR) is an active remote sensing technology for: * mapping vegetation aspects including cover, density and height * representing the earth's terrain and elevation contours We acquired SPL data on an airborne acquisition platform under leaf-on conditions to support Forest Resources Inventory (FRI) development. FRI provides: * information to support resource management planning and land use decisions within Ontario’s Managed Zone * information on tree species, density, heights, ages and distribution The SPL data point density ranges from a min of 25pts/m. Each point represents heights of objects such as: * ground level terrain points * heights of vegetation * buildings The lidar was classified according to the Ontario lidar classifications. Low, medium and tall vegetation are classed as 3, 4, 5 and 12 classes. The FRI SPL products include the following digital elevation models: * digital terrain model * canopy height model * digital surface model * intensity model (signal width to return ratio) * forest inventory raster metrics * forest inventory attributes * predicted streams * hydro break lines * block control points Lidar fMVA data supports developing detailed 3D analysis of: * forest inventory * terrain * hydrology * infrastructure * transportation * other mapping applications We made significant investments in Single Photon LiDAR data, now available on the Open Data Catalogue.     These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's efforts to create an online mapping viewer called the NOAA Lake Level Viewer. It depicts potential lake level rise and fall and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping viewer is to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at lake level change, coastal flooding impacts, and exposed lakeshore. The viewer is a screening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses. Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to help gauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The NOAA Lake Level Viewer may be accessed at: https://coast.noaa.gov/llv. This metadata record describes the Lake Superior digital elevation model (DEM), which is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Lake Level Viewer described above. This DEM includes the best available lidar, US Army Corps of Engineer dredge surveys, and National Park Service multibeam data known to exist at the time of DEM creation that met project specifications. This DEM includes data for Alger, Baraga, Chippewa, Gogebic, Houghton, Keweenaw, Luce, Marquette, and Ontonagon counties in Michigan; Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties in Minnesota; and Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, and Iron counties in Wisconsin.     This seamless topo-bathymetric DEM is designed to represent true ground and bathymetric elevation across two sections of the GTA along the western shoreline of Lake Ontario ((i) Hamilton in the west to Niagara-on-the-Lake in the east, and (ii) Scarborough in the west to Port Hope in the east). The Lake Ontario Topo-Bathymetric DEM was constructed from two source datasets: the 2002 GTA Ortho vector data (MNRF) and 2001 SHOALS bathymetric LiDAR (USACE JALBTCX). This product is suitable for applications such as: querying elevation values in a given area and as a reference or input dataset.

    The Digital Surface Models (DSM) are raster elevation products that were generated from the elevation point clouds created via pixel-correlation from aerial photography. A DSM is the highest reflective surface of ground features captured by the sensor. This surface may also be referred to as the first reflective surface. The DSM may include treetops, rooftops, and tops of towers, telephone poles, and other natural or artificial features; or it may include the ground surface if there is no vegetative ground cover.

    For more detailed information about this dataset, refer to the associated User Guide.

    Now also available through a web service which exposes the data for visualization, geoprocessing and limited download. The service is best accessed through the ArcGIS REST API, either directly or by setting up an ArcGIS server connection using the REST endpoint URL. The service draws using the Web Mercator projection.

    Description

    The Ontario Point Cloud (Lidar-Derived) consists of points containing elevation and intensity information derived from returns collected by an airborne topographic lidar sensor. It was designed to support agricultural soil map renewal for selected geographic areas. The data's coverage includes selected areas in southern Ontario (Peterborough, Lake Erie, Halton, Milton, Brampton, GTA, Peel, CLOCA, LEAP, CNS, York Region-Lake Simcoe Watershed, Ottawa River, Ottawa-Gatineau, Hamilton-Niagara, Lake Huron and Lake Simcoe), Eastern Ontario, and portions of northern Ontario (Lake Nipissing and Cochrane).

    The point cloud has been classified into Unclassified, Ground, Water, High and Low Noise categories and is structured into non-overlapping 1-km by 1-km tiles in LAZ format. As this dataset is a compilation of LiDAR data from multiple acquisition projects, specifications, parameters, accuracy and sensors may vary by project. See the detailed User Guide and contractor metadata reports below for additional information.

    Description

    Static flood inundation boundary extents were created along the entire shoreline of Lake Ontario in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, and Wayne Counties in New York by using recently acquired (2007, 2010, 2014, and 2017) light detection and ranging (lidar) data. The flood inundation maps, accessible through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Program website at https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/flood-inundation-mapping-fim-program, depict estimates of the areal extent and water depth of shoreline flooding in 8 segments corresponding to adjacent water-surface elevations (stages) at 8 USGS lake gages on Lake Ontario. This item includes data sets for segment H - Lake Ontario at Pier at Sackets Harbor, NY (station number 04250772). These datasets demonstrate the estimated extent and depth of lake flooding at specific water levels of 1-foot increments from 247.0 ft to 251.0 ft (International Great Lakes Datum of 1985). In this study, wind and seiche effects were not represented; therefore, the flood inundation maps reflect five stages for Lake Ontario that are static for the entire shoreline area of the lake. This item is a package of flood inundation data for segment H - Lake Ontario at Pier at Sackets Harbor, NY (station number 04250772) including: 1) 1 shapefile showing 5 estimated flood extents as polygons, 2) 5 raster datasets showing the depth of the water at 5 flood stages, 3) 1 shapefile showing the study limit extent of segment H, and 4) a metadata file. The polygon flood extent shapefiles were developed from digital elevation models (DEMs) derived from the lidar to represent the estimated areal extent for five flood stages for segment H. The raster files depict the depth, in feet, of the water in the inundated areas along the shoreline of Lake Ontario during the five theoretical flood stages. The depth grids were created by subtracting the digital elevation model (DEM) values (in feet) from each of five raster files representing the flood extent at each constant water level (in feet). An approximately 100-meter buffer was used as the extent into the lake. First posted June 21, 2021, ver 1.0 Revised November 2021, ver 2.0 Version 2.0: This version of the dataset has the same data as version 1.0, but some shapefile attributes were renamed to be more accurate and clearer, and the depth-grid rasters were renamed to include the associated water surface elevation within the raster file name. Detailed version history is included in Version_History_LakeOntarioFIMDataRelease.txt. Version 1.0: This version is a package of flood inundation data for Lake Ontario including: 1) 8 shapefiles showing 40 estimated flood extents as polygons, 2) 40 raster datasets showing the depth of the water at 5 flood stages, divided into 8 shoreline segments, 3) 8 shapefiles showing the study limit extent of each segment, and 4) a metadata file.

    The Oregon Department of Geology & Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) contracted with Watershed Sciences, Inc. to collect high resolution topographic lidar data for multiple areas within the State of Oregon. The areas for lidar collection have been designed as part of a collaborative effort of state, federal, and local agencies in order to meet a wide range of project goals. The Camp Creek study area was collected December 3 - 10, 2008 and covers a portion of northeastern Malheur County. The total flown area covers 261 square miles, or 167,324 acres. This data set consists of bare earth and unclassified points. There are approximately 8 points per square meter over terrestrial surfaces. In some areas of heavy vegetation or forest cover, there may be relatively few ground points in the lidar data. Elevation values for open water surfaces are not valid elevation values because few lidar points are returned from water surfaces. Lidar intensity values were also collected.

    Description

    Single photon lidar light detection and ranging (SPL LiDAR) is an active remote sensing technology for: * mapping vegetation aspects including cover, density and height * representing the earth's terrain and elevation contours We acquired SPL data on an airborne acquisition platform under leaf-on conditions to support Forest Resources Inventory (FRI) development. FRI provides: * information to support resource management planning and land use decisions within Ontario’s Managed Zone * information on tree species, density, heights, ages and distribution The SPL data point density ranges from a min of 25pts/m. Each point represents heights of objects such as: * ground level terrain points * heights of vegetation * buildings The lidar was classified according to the Ontario lidar classifications. Low, medium and tall vegetation are classed as 3, 4, 5 and 12 classes. The FRI SPL products include the following digital elevation models: * digital terrain model * canopy height model * digital surface model * intensity model (signal width to return ratio) * forest inventory raster metrics * forest inventory attributes * predicted streams * hydro break lines * block control points Lidar fMVA data supports developing detailed 3D analysis of: * forest inventory * terrain * hydrology * infrastructure * transportation * other mapping applications We made significant investments in Single Photon LiDAR data, now available on the Open Data Catalogue. Derivatives are available for streaming or through download. The map reflects areas with LiDAR data available for download. Zoom in to see data tiles and download options.
