    Description

This spatial dataset comprises polygons that represent property parcels within the City of Niagara Falls. Although this layer closely follows Tax Roll parcels, there may be some instances where the ownership parcel's geometry to the PIN is used. The parcel layer is regularly updated using various sources, including Certificate of Consent documents from the CNF Committee of Adjustment, Registered Plans (of Subdivision or Condominium), Agreements of a Registered development (Subdivision or Condominium), Registered Deeds, Registered Reference Plans, and MPAC SCIF reports. To verify legal descriptions and ownership, PIN Details and maps from the Land Registry Office are also referenced, as needed. The original version of this product, a hybrid property dataset provided by the Region, was created using Ontario Base Mapping hard copy base (likely North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27) UTM 17) and would have been checked for quality using Ortho imagery available at the time. This information has been compiled from numerous sources and standards over the years, so spatial inaccuracies are to be expected. It's important to note that this layer is strictly intended for mapping and reference purposes, and should not be used to define the boundaries of individual parcels of land for legal purposes. Attribute details contain the primary address for the parcel and are not reflective of all valid addresses in the City of Niagara Falls for individual parcels.

    Description

Exploring new ways to share information with each other is a cornerstone of improving the planning process. To do this it is essential to have city-wide data in accessible formats. A variety of 3D digital information and models exist but currently the data is not readily available to the general public. Providing a consistent city-wide 3D data source will link these digital city planning models and materials together and will allow us to imagine our city from different perspectives. The Open Data site will enable access to application developers, designers, urban planners and architects, and the public. Ideally this will enable the creation of a visual portal and access to a large collection of city building ideas. Further to the Open Government Licence, the Context Massing Model is being provided by City Planning on the Open Data website for information and illustrative purposes only. City Planning does not warranty the completeness, accuracy, content, or fitness for any precision purpose or use of context massing model for such purposes, nor are any such warranties to be implied or inferred with respect to Context Massing Model as furnished on the website. City Planning and the City are not liable for any deficiencies in the completeness, accuracy, content, or fitness for any particular purpose or use of Context Massing Model, or applications utilizing Context Massing Model, provided by any third party. Context Massing Model MUST BE VERIFIED BY THE USER FOR LEGAL OR OFFICIAL USE. Please use this Interactive Map to locate the 3D Massing tiles for SketchUp and AutoCAD format For further information visit the Urban Design web site A note on property assessments: MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) holds copyright on many aspects of data around properties. The City of Toronto is unable to provide this data. From the MPAC website: MPAC 's range of services includes: Preparing annual Assessment Rolls for use by municipalities and the Province to calculate property and education taxes. Assessment Maps and Ontario Parcel (TM) In 2005, MPAC, the Ontario Government and Teranet Enterprises Inc. completed the Ontario Parcel(TM) - an ambitious project that brings assessment, ownership and land parcel data for almost 4.6 million properties into a standardized digital database. ... The Ontario Parcel(TM) is available to Ontario municipalities, public organizations and private businesses. Among other things, the Ontario Parcel(TM) data can be applied to property assessment and taxation, land registration, land use planning, land management and business planning. With the implementation of the Ontario Parcel (TM) and the digital mapping environment, MPAC no longer produces paper assessment maps. If you would like more information about the products and services available under the Ontario Parcel (TM), please visit the Ontario Parcel (TM) website at www.ontarioparcel.ca. These data provide an accurate high-resolution shoreline compiled from imagery of LAKE ONTARIO, SOUTHWICK BEACH TO WOLFE ISLAND, NY-ONT . This vector shoreline data is based on an office interpretation of imagery that may be suitable as a geographic information system (GIS) data layer. This metadata describes information for both the line and point shapefiles. The NGS attribution scheme 'Coastal Cartographic Object Attribute Source Table (C-COAST)' was developed to conform the attribution of various sources of shoreline data into one attribution catalog. C-COAST is not a recognized standard, but was influenced by the International Hydrographic Organization's S-57 Object-Attribute standard so the data would be more accurately translated into S-57. Description

Bathymetry is the measurement of water depth in lakes. From the 1940s to the 1990s, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry produced bathymetry maps for over 11,000 lakes across Ontario. The data can be used by the general public and GIS specialists for: * climate change modelling * fish monitoring and other ecological applications * hydrologic cycle modelling * recreational fishing maps * watershed-based water budgeting The maps were created using simple methods to determine lake depths. They were meant for resource management purposes only. Little effort was made to identify shoals and other hazards when creating these bathymetric maps. Since this data was collected, many constructed and naturally occurring events could mean that the depth information is now inaccurate, so these maps should not be used for navigational purposes. In many cases, these maps still represent the only authoritative source of bathymetry data for lakes in Ontario. Technical information These maps are being converted to digital GIS line data which can be found in the Bathymetry Line data class. The Bathymetry Index data class identifies if GIS vector lines have been created and the location of mapped lakes. The historic paper maps have been scanned into digital files. We will add new digital files to this dataset if they become available. The digital files have been grouped and packaged by regions into 13 compressed (zipped) files for download. Note: package 99 contains scanned maps where the location shown on the map could not be determined.

    Description

Please note that this dataset is not an official City of Toronto land use dataset. It was created for personal and academic use using City of Toronto Land Use Maps (2019) found on the City of Toronto Official Plan website at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/official-plan-guidelines/official-plan/official-plan-maps-copy, along with the City of Toronto parcel fabric (Property Boundaries) found at https://open.toronto.ca/dataset/property-boundaries/ and Statistics Canada Census Dissemination Blocks level boundary files (2016). The property boundaries used were dated November 11, 2021. Further detail about the City of Toronto's Official Plan, consolidation of the information presented in its online form, and considerations for its interpretation can be found at https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/official-plan-guidelines/official-plan/ Data Creation Documentation and Procedures Software Used The spatial vector data were created using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.0 in December 2021. PDF File Conversions Using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC software, the following downloaded PDF map images were converted to TIF format. 9028-cp-official-plan-Map-14_LandUse_AODA.pdf 9042-cp-official-plan-Map-22_LandUse_AODA.pdf 9070-cp-official-plan-Map-20_LandUse_AODA.pdf 908a-cp-official-plan-Map-13_LandUse_AODA.pdf 978e-cp-official-plan-Map-17_LandUse_AODA.pdf 97cc-cp-official-plan-Map-15_LandUse_AODA.pdf 97d4-cp-official-plan-Map-23_LandUse_AODA.pdf 97f2-cp-official-plan-Map-19_LandUse_AODA.pdf 97fe-cp-official-plan-Map-18_LandUse_AODA.pdf 9811-cp-official-plan-Map-16_LandUse_AODA.pdf 982d-cp-official-plan-Map-21_LandUse_AODA.pdf Georeferencing and Reprojecting Data Files The original projection of the PDF maps is unknown but were most likely published using MTM Zone 10 EPSG 2019 as per many of the City of Toronto's many datasets. They could also have possibly been published in UTM Zone 17 EPSG 26917 The TIF images were georeferenced in ArcGIS Pro using this projection with very good results. The images were matched against the City of Toronto's Centreline dataset found here The resulting TIF files and their supporting spatial files include: TOLandUseMap13.tfwx TOLandUseMap13.tif TOLandUseMap13.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap13.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap14.tfwx TOLandUseMap14.tif TOLandUseMap14.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap14.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap15.tfwx TOLandUseMap15.tif TOLandUseMap15.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap15.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap16.tfwx TOLandUseMap16.tif TOLandUseMap16.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap16.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap17.tfwx TOLandUseMap17.tif TOLandUseMap17.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap17.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap18.tfwx TOLandUseMap18.tif TOLandUseMap18.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap18.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap19.tif TOLandUseMap19.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap19.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap20.tfwx TOLandUseMap20.tif TOLandUseMap20.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap20.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap21.tfwx TOLandUseMap21.tif TOLandUseMap21.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap21.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap22.tfwx TOLandUseMap22.tif TOLandUseMap22.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap22.tif.ovr TOLandUseMap23.tfwx TOLandUseMap23.tif TOLandUseMap23.tif.aux.xml TOLandUseMap23.tif.ov Ground control points were saved for all georeferenced images. Using Deep learning Objects, the images were re-classified into useful consistent colours. Deep Learning Objects and Training The resulting mosaic was then prepared for reclassification using the Label Objects for Deep Learning tool in ArcGIS Pro. A training sample, "LandUseTrainingSamples20211220", was created in the geodatabase for all land use types as follows: Neighbourhoods Insitutional Natural Areas Core Employment Areas Mixed Use Areas Apartment Neighbourhoods Parks Roads Utility Corridors Other Open Spaces General Employment Areas Regeneration Areas Lettering (not a land use type, but an image colour (black), used to label streets). By identifying the letters, it then made the reclassification and vectorization results easier to clean up of unnecessary clutter caused by the labels of streets. Description

Contains lot, concession, and road allowance boundaries for Peel Region. Lots and concessions are a distinctive method of addressing, divided by concession roads (running North-South) and Lines/Sideroads (running East-West). This system is now typically only used in more rural settings, but was the original land division system as surveyed in the 1800s. Lot removal from the fabric is dictated by the Ontario Surveyor General. The geographic townships and lot information is still used for land administration (title) purposes. They are used as part of the legal description of the parcel. This dataset cannot replace a Plan of Survey. The townships, concessions and lots compromise the original township fabric of the Province. The spatial accuracy of the lot fabric for some townships has been improved through the Ontario Parcel, Township Realignment and Township Improvement projects. Improvements to the fabric may include: road allowance widths, spatial changes to better represent the location of lot boundaries, and more consistent concession names.NotesBoundaries along water bodies follow the shoreline as represented in the original plans prepared by the Crown. They may not match the current shoreline configuration or extent.Lots and right of way polygons have been split by Peel staff along current municipal boundaries for internal mapping and analysis purposes. Lot lines may not actually be split in such a way, legally.Lot Fabric, Improved Frequently Asked Questions (PDF)Lot Fabric, Improved - Data Description (PDF)Lot Fabric, Improved - Documentation (DOCX)

    Description

The LIO Topographic Data Cache is a collection of topographic data, that has been preprocessed for fast, seamless display at predefined scales. The topographic data includes constructed and natural features that make up Ontario’s landscape. The cache provides limited data from areas outside Ontario’s boundaries, such as the United States and adjacent provinces and territories. Technical information Two versions of the LIO Topographic Data Cache are available: 1. The traditional raster version is available for a variety of GIS applications and is updated annually. 2. The vector version is suitable for online web map applications as well as modern GIS software and is updated twice a year. Contributing data layers may have different maintenance and update cycles. Some cache layers have been processed in a way that makes it easier for them to be displayed in a mapping product. Other layers are unchanged from the authoritative data. The cartographic symbology used in the data cache is intentionally muted to allow users to showcase their data. The LIO Topographic Data Cache is created from many source datasets, which are described in the LIO Topographic Data Cache user guide. If you are interested in getting this authoritative data, you can download it from the Ontario GeoHub. For instructions on getting a copy of either version of the cache for use in mapping applications, visit the Ontario GeoHub.

    Description

The land cover classes consist of vegetation types (such as forest, wetlands and agricultural crops or pasture) and categories of non-vegetated surface (such as water bodies, bedrock outcrops or settlements).

These classes reflect the nature of the land surface rather than actual or potential land use. The 2000 Edition of the Ontario Land Cover Data Base is the Second Edition of this provincial land cover classification. The coverage is derived wholly from Landsat-7 Thematic Mapper (TM) satellite data frames recorded between 1999 and 2002, most from 2000 onward.

The Provincial Land Cover (2000) Data Base is divided into 4 individual Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid zone tiles (15, 16, 17, and 18) and is distributed in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) format. Documentation is provided with this database in the form of a user's guide and general use caveats.

    Description

This is a georeferenced raster image of a printed paper map of the Sioux Narrows, Ontario region (Sheet No. 052E08), published in 1966. It is the second edition in a series of maps, which show both natural and man-made features such as relief, spot heights, administrative boundaries, secondary and side roads, railways, trails, wooded areas, waterways including lakes, rivers, streams and rapids, bridges, buildings, mills, power lines, terrain, and land formations. This map was published in 1966 and the information on the map is current as of 1963. Maps were produced by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and it's preceding agencies, in partnership with other government agencies. Please note: image / survey capture dates can span several years, and some details may have been updated later than others. Please consult individual map sheets for detailed production information, which can be found in the bottom left hand corner. Original maps were digitally scanned by McGill Libraries in partnership with Canadiana.org, and georeferencing for the maps was provided by the University of Toronto Libraries and Eastview Corporation.

Mosaics are published as ArcGIS image serviceswhich circumvent the need to download or order data. GEO-IDS image services are different from standard web services as they provide access to the raw imagery data. This enhances user experiences by allowing for user driven dynamic area of interest image display enhancement, raw data querying through tools such as the ArcPro information tool, full geospatial analysis, and automation through scripting tools such as ArcPy. Image services are best accessed through the ArcGIS REST APIand REST endpoints (URL's). You can copy the OPS ArcGIS REST API link below into a web browser to gain access to a directory containing all OPS image services. Individual services can be added into ArcPro for display and analysis by using Add Data -> Add Data From Path and copying one of the image service ArcGIS REST endpoint below into the resultant text box. They can also be accessed by setting up an ArcGIS server connectionin ESRI software using the ArcGIS Image Server REST endpoint/URL. Services can also be accessed in open-source software. For example, in QGIS you can right click on the type of service you want to add in the browser pane (e.g., ArcGIS REST Server, WCS, WMS/WMTS) and copy and paste the appropriate URL below into the resultant popup window. All services are in Web Mercator projection. For more information on what functionality is available and how to work with the service, read the Ontario Web Raster Services User Guide. If you have questions about how to use the service, email Geospatial Ontario (GEO) at geospatial@ontario.ca Available Products: ArcGIS REST APIhttps://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/AerialImagery/ Image Service ArcGIS REST endpoint / URL'shttps://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2013to2017/ImageServer https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2018to2022/ImageServer https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/rest/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2023to2027/ImageServerWeb Coverage Services (WCS) URL'shttps://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2013to2017/ImageServer/WCSServer/https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2018to2022/ImageServer/WCSServer/https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2023to2027/ImageServer/WCSServer/Web Mapping Service (WMS) URL'shttps://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2013to2017/ImageServer/WMSServer/https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2018to2022/ImageServer/WMSServer/https://ws.geoservices.lrc.gov.on.ca/arcgis5/services/AerialImagery/GEO_Imagery_Data_Service_2023to2027/ImageServer/WMSServer/ Metadata for all imagery products available in GEO-IDS can be accessed at the links below:South Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (SCOOP) 2023North-Western Ontario Orthophotography Project (NWOOP) 2022 Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (COOP) 2021 South-Western Ontario Orthophotography Project (SWOOP) 2020 Digital Raster Acquisition Project Eastern Ontario (DRAPE) 2019-2020 South Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (SCOOP) 2018 North-Western Ontario Orthophotography Project (NWOOP) 2017 Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (COOP) 2016 South-Western Ontario Orthophotography Project (SWOOP) 2015 Algonquin Orthophotography Project (2015) Additional Documentation: Ontario Web Raster Services User Guide (Word) Status:Completed: Production of the data has been completed Maintenance and Update Frequency:Annually: Data is updated every year Contact:Geospatial Ontario (GEO), geospatial@ontario.ca
