    Shows land mapped as access land under CRoW. The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CRoW Act) gives the public right of access to land mapped as 'open country' (mountain, moor, heath and down) or registered common land. These areas are known as 'open access land'. This layer includes Open Country and Registered Common Land combined into a single layer, with certain categories of excepted land removed.     Description

    The CDFW Public Access Lands dataset is a subset of the CDFW Lands dataset. It contains lands that might be accessible to the public for hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, and other recreational opportunities. For additional information please visit the CDFW Lands web page, "Places to Visit", for a list of wildlife areas and ecological reserves at https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Lands/Places-to-Visit . Please note that some lands may not be accessible due to seasonal closure or protection of resources and habitat. Please refer to the regulations or contact CDFW regional or area office prior to visit. Additional information for some wildlife areas or ecological reserves may be found at www.wildlife.ca.gov/Lands. For information on public use regulations on Department lands, please refer to the Public Uses on State and Federal Lands section of the Waterfowl, Upland Game, and Public Use Regulations booklet for both statewide and property-specific regulations https://wildlife.ca.gov/Regulations. All visitors are responsible for knowing and following the general and property-specific regulations.

    This is a generalized version that has been dissolved and has a shorter attribute table than the original version. This dataset is a digitized geographical inventory of selected lands owned and/or administered by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). Physical boundaries of individual parcels are determined by the descriptions contained in legal documents and assessor parcel maps relating to that parcel. The approximate parcel boundaries are drawn onto U.S. Geological Survey 7.5'-series topographic maps, then digitized and attributed before being added to the dataset. In some cases, assessor parcel or best available datasets are used to digitize the boundary. Using parcel data to adjust the boundaries is a work in progress and will be incorporated in the future. Township, range, and section lines were based on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5' series topographic maps (1:24,000 - scale). In some areas, the boundaries will not align with the Bureau of Land Management's Public Lands Survey System (PLSS).

    The Access Network Map of England is a national composite dataset of Access layers, showing analysis of extent of Access provision for each Lower Super Output Area (LSOA), as a percentage or area coverage of access in England. The ‘Access Network Map’ was developed by Natural England to inform its work to improve opportunities for people to enjoy the natural environment. This map shows, across England, the relative abundance of accessible land in relation to where people live. Due to issues explained below, the map does not, and cannot, provide a definitive statement of where intervention is necessary. Rather, it should be used to identify areas of interest which require further exploration. Natural England believes that places where people can enjoy the natural environment should be improved and created where they are most wanted. Access Network Maps help support this work by providing means to assess the amount of accessible land available in relation to where people live. They combine all the available good quality data on access provision into a single dataset and relate this to population. This provides a common foundation for regional and national teams to use when targeting resources to improve public access to greenspace, or projects that rely on this resource. The Access Network Maps are compiled from the datasets available to Natural England which contain robust, nationally consistent data on land and routes that are normally available to the public and are free of charge.     Village Greens – point data only Due to the quantity and complexity of data used, it is not possible to display clearly on a single map the precise boundary of accessible land for all areas. We therefore selected a unit which would be clearly visible at a variety of scales and calculated the total area (in hectares) of accessible land in each. The units we selected are ‘Lower Super Output Areas’ (LSOAs), which represent where approximately 1,500 people live based on postcode. To calculate the total area of accessible land for each we gave the linear routes a notional width of 3 metres so they could be measured in hectares. We then combined together all the datasets and calculated the total hectares of accessible land in each LSOA.     Description

    This dataset covers the French metropolitan territory (500,000km²). It includes

    • Six open access land-cover maps from various providers (CLC, CGLS-LC100, OSO, OCS-GE cover, OCS-GE use, MOS).

    • A May 2019 Sentinel-2 L3A mosaic ( cloudless image using all maps available during a month) including RVB and NIR. Provided by Theia.

    • A Manually built ground truth of 2300 random points annotated with their labels in each map nomenclature.

    • A consolidated ground truth with the original 2300 and 400 non-random points focusing on rare classes.

    • A suggested train/val/test split (60%,5%,35%). Note that all ground truth points belong to patches of the suggested test set.

    Since this dataset is intended to be used with a deep learning algorithm, the data is split into tiles of 6x6km² following a grid given with the dataset.

    Note that exception made of the ground truth, all the data (Land covers and Sentinel-Images) aren't our property and are only shared as authorized by their respective original license.

    Description

    The CRoW Act provides for public access on foot to certain types of land, amends the law relating to public rights of way, increases measures for the management and protection for Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and strengthens wildlife enforcement legislation, and provides for better management of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Under Section 4 of the CRoW Act it states the following: It shall be the duty of Natural Resources Wales (formerly Countryside Council for Wales) to prepare, in respect of Wales, maps which together show; (a) all registered common land, and (b) all open country.

    It is a redacted version of the 'Common Land (CROW Act) Fully Attributed Dataset', see separate metadata entry for details. Digitisation took place in 2014 for all Wales. This dataset does not include Urban Commons, Commons with Deeds for Access, 1899 Commons Act, Provisional Order Confirmation or Village Greens. When using this data to understand the extent of Open Access , it should be used in conjunction with Open land, Open Country, Registered Common Land, Other Statutory Access Land and Other Dedicated Land from the same years. Contact your local authority for access to and information about Registers of Common Land.

Parcels are symbolized as fee simple (DNR Owned), DNR easement on private land (open/restricted public access) and DNR lease on federal- and county-owned land.     Description

    The USGS Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) is the nation's inventory of protected areas, including public open space and voluntarily provided, private protected areas, identified as an A-16 National Geospatial Data Asset in the Cadastral Theme (http://www.fgdc.gov/ngda-reports/NGDA_Datasets.html). PAD-US is an ongoing project with several published versions of a spatial database of areas dedicated to the preservation of biological diversity, and other natural, recreational or cultural uses, managed for these purposes through legal or other effective means. The geodatabase maps and describes public open space and other protected areas. Most areas are public lands owned in fee; however, long-term easements, leases, and agreements or administrative designations documented in agency management plans may be included. The PAD-US database strives to be a complete “best available” inventory of protected areas (lands and waters) including data provided by managing agencies and organizations. The dataset is built in collaboration with several partners and data providers (http://gapanalysis.usgs.gov/padus/stewards/). See Supplemental Information Section of this metadata record for more information on partnerships and links to major partner organizations. As this dataset is a compilation of many data sets; data completeness, accuracy, and scale may vary. Federal and state data are generally complete, while local government and private protected area coverage is about 50% complete, and depends on data management capacity in the state. For completeness estimates by state: http://www.protectedlands.net/partners. As the federal and state data are reasonably complete; focus is shifting to completing the inventory of local gov and voluntarily provided, private protected areas. The PAD-US geodatabase contains over twenty-five attributes and four feature classes to support data management, queries, web mapping services and analyses: Marine Protected Areas (MPA), Fee, Easements and Combined. The data contained in the MPA Feature class are provided directly by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Protected Areas Center (MPA, http://marineprotectedareas.noaa.gov ) tracking the National Marine Protected Areas System. The Easements feature class contains data provided directly from the National Conservation Easement Database (NCED, http://conservationeasement.us ) The MPA and Easement feature classes contain some attributes unique to the sole source databases tracking them (e.g. Easement Holder Name from NCED, Protection Level from NOAA MPA Inventory). The "Combined" feature class integrates all fee, easement and MPA features as the best available national inventory of protected areas in the standard PAD-US framework. In addition to geographic boundaries, PAD-US describes the protection mechanism category (e.g. fee, easement, designation, other), owner and managing agency, designation type, unit name, area, public access and state name in a suite of standardized fields. An informative set of references (i.e. Aggregator Source, GIS Source, GIS Source Date) and "local" or source data fields provide a transparent link between standardized PAD-US fields and information from authoritative data sources. The areas in PAD-US are also assigned conservation measures that assess management intent to permanently protect biological diversity: the nationally relevant "GAP Status Code" and global "IUCN Category" standard. A wealth of attributes facilitates a wide variety of data analyses and creates a context for data to be used at local, regional, state, national and international scales.     Description

    Minnesota's original public land survey plat maps were created between 1848 and 1907 during the first government land survey of the state by the U.S. Surveyor General's Office. This collection of more than 3,600 maps includes later General Land Office (GLO) and Bureau of Land Management maps up through 2001. Scanned images of the maps are available in several digital formats and most have been georeferenced.

    The survey plat maps, and the accompanying survey field notes, serve as the fundamental legal records for real estate in Minnesota; all property titles and descriptions stem from them. They also are an essential resource for surveyors and provide a record of the state's physical geography prior to European settlement. Finally, they testify to many years of hard work by the surveying community, often under very challenging conditions.

    The deteriorating physical condition of the older maps (drawn on paper, linen, and other similar materials) and the need to provide wider public access to the maps, made handling the original records increasingly impractical. To meet this challenge, the Office of the Secretary of State (SOS), the State Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society (MHS), the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), MnGeo and the Minnesota Association of County Surveyors collaborated in a digitization project which produced high quality (800 dpi), 24-bit color images of the maps in standard TIFF, JPEG and PDF formats - nearly 1.5 terabytes of data. Funding was provided by MnDOT.

    In 2010-11, most of the JPEG plat map images were georeferenced. The intent was to locate the plat images to coincide with statewide geographic data without appreciably altering (warping) the image. This increases the value of the images in mapping software where they can be used as a background layer.

    This data set depicts federal lands having restrictions on access or activities -- that is, lands mangaed by the National Park Service, Defense Department, or Energy Department -- in western North America. The data set was created by reformatting and merging state- and province-based ownership data layers originally acquired from diverse sources (including state GAP programs, USBLM state offices and other sources). For each original dataset 3 additional fields, "Pub_Pvt", "CA_OWN", and "SOURCE" were added and populated based on the specific ownership information contained in the source data. The original coverages were then merged based on the "CA_OWN" field. Finally, NPS, DOD, and DOE lands were selected out of the ownership layer. All work was completed in AcMap 8.3. This product and all source data are available online from SAGEMAP: http://sagemap.wr.usgs.gov.

    Description

    The CDFW Owned and Operated Lands and Conservation Easements dataset is a subset of the CDFW Lands dataset. It contains lands owned (fee title), some operated (wildlife areas, ecological reserves, and public/fishing access properties that are leases/agreements with other agencies that may be publicly accessible) and conservation easements held by CDFW. CDFW Owned and Operated Lands and Conservation Easements replaces the prior dataset, DFG Owned and Operated Lands, which included only fee title lands and some operated lands (wildlife areas, ecological reserves, and public/fishing access properties that are leases/agreements with other agencies and that may be publicly accessible). This is a generalized version dataset that has a shorter attribute table than the original and also has been dissolved based on the fields included. Please note that some lands may not be accessible due to the protection of resources and habitat. It is recommended that users contact the appropriate regional office for access information and consult regulations for CDFW lands in Sections 550, 550.1, 551, 552, 630 and 702. For information on public use regulations on Department lands, please refer to the Public Uses on State and Federal Lands section of the Waterfowl, Upland Game, and Public Use Regulations booklet for both statewide and property-specific regulations https://wildlife.ca.gov/Regulations.     The CDFW Lands dataset is a digitized geographical inventory of selected lands owned and/or administered by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Properties such as ecological reserves, wildlife areas, undesignated lands containing biological resource values, public and fishing access lands, and CDFW fish hatcheries are among those lands included in this inventory. Types of properties owned or administered by CDFW which may not be included in this dataset are parcels less than 1 acre in size, such as fishing piers, fish spawning grounds, fish barriers, and other minor parcels. Physical boundaries of individual parcels are determined by the descriptions contained in legal documents and assessor parcel maps relating to that parcel. The approximate parcel boundaries are drawn onto U.S. Geological Survey 7.5'-series topographic maps, then digitized and attributed before being added to the dataset. In some cases, assessor parcel or best available datasets are used to digitize the boundary. Using parcel data to adjust the boundaries is a work in progress and will be incorporated in the future. Township, range, and section lines were based on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5' series topographic maps (1:24,000 - scale). In some areas, the boundaries will not align with the Bureau of Land Management's Public Lands Survey System (PLSS). See the "SOURCE" field for data used to digitize boundary.

    What is SEPAL?

    SEPAL (https://sepal.io/) is a free and open source cloud computing platform for geo-spatial data access and processing. It empowers users to quickly process large amounts of data on their computer or mobile device. Users can create custom analysis ready data using freely available satellite imagery, generate and improve land use maps, analyze time series, run change detection and perform accuracy assessment and area estimation, among many other functionalities in the platform. Data can be created and analyzed for any place on Earth using SEPAL.

    SEPAL reaches over 5000 users in 180 countries for the creation of custom data products from freely available satellite data. SEPAL was developed as a part of the Open Foris suite, a set of free and open source software platforms and tools that facilitate flexible and efficient data collection, analysis and reporting. SEPAL combines and integrates modern geospatial data infrastructures and supercomputing power available through Google Earth Engine and Amazon Web Services with powerful open-source data processing software, such as R, ORFEO, GDAL, Python and Jupiter Notebooks. Users can easily access the archive of satellite imagery from NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA) as well as high spatial and temporal resolution data from Planet Labs and turn such images into data that can be used for reporting and better decision making.

    National Forest Monitoring Systems in many countries have been strengthened by SEPAL, which provides technical government staff with computing resources and cutting edge technology to accurately map and monitor their forests. The platform was originally developed for monitoring forest carbon stock and stock changes for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+). The application of the tools on the platform now reach far beyond forest monitoring by providing different stakeholders access to cloud based image processing tools, remote sensing and machine learning for any application. Presently, users work on SEPAL for various applications related to land monitoring, land cover/use, land productivity, ecological zoning, ecosystem restoration monitoring, forest monitoring, near real time alerts for forest disturbances and fire, flood mapping, mapping impact of disasters, peatland rewetting status, and many others.

    The Hand-in-Hand initiative enables countries that generate data through SEPAL to disseminate their data widely through the platform and to combine their data with the numerous other datasets available through Hand-in-Hand.

    Description

    This dataset contains spatial and statistical data related to riparian forests in the region of Vojvodina, Serbia. The data were compiled and processed as part of a research project focusing on the classification, distribution, and temporal changes of riparian forest types along major rivers such as the Danube, Tisa, Tamiš, and Sava.

    The dataset includes:

    • Raster maps and classified satellite imagery (.tif and .png formats),

    • Vector layers and geospatial shapefiles,

    • Tabular data with field-based and derived statistics,

    • Forest typology maps and vegetation structure analyses,

    • Comparative land cover data from 2012 and 2018 based on CORINE Land Cover (CLC),

    The visualizations and spatial layers were generated using GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and remote sensing methods. Public data sources were used, including:

    • CORINE Land Cover (© EEA, Copernicus open access),

    • EUFORGEN species distribution maps,

    • National Forest Inventory of Serbia (NFI).

    All other processing, classification, and statistical analysis were conducted by the dataset author. Data are provided in multiple ZIP archives grouped thematically due to file count limitations.

    Description

    This dataset includes high quality (800 Dots Per Inch - DPI), 24 bit color images of Minnesota's original Public Land Survey (PLS) plats created during the first government land survey of the state from 1848 to 1907. Currently housed at the Office of the Secretary of State, these plats were created by the U.S. Surveyor General's Office. This collection of more than 3,600 maps also includes later General Land Office (GLO) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) maps - up to the year 2001.

    Minnesota's survey plat maps serve as the fundamental legal records for real estate in the state; all property titles and descriptions stem from them. They also serve as an essential resource for surveyors and as an analytical tool for the state's physical geography prior to European settlement. Finally, they serve as a testimony to years and years of hard work by the surveying community, often under challenging conditions.

    In recent years the deteriorating physical condition of the older maps and the needs of technologically more sophisticated researchers, who require access to the maps, have made handling the original paper records increasingly less practical. To meet this challenge, the Office of the Secretary of State, the State Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, MnGeo (formerly the Land Management Information Center - LMIC) and the Minnesota Association of County Surveyors collaborated in a digitization project which produced images of the maps in standard TIFF, JPEG and PDF formats - nearly 1.5 terabytes worth of data. Funding was provided by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Description

Shows land mapped as access land under CRoW. The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CRoW Act) gives the public right of access to land mapped as 'open country' (mountain, moor, heath and down) or registered common land. These areas are known as 'open access land'. This layer includes Open Country and Registered Common Land combined into a single layer, with certain categories of excepted land removed.
