Our strategy is to reuse images from existing benchmark datasets as much as possible and manually annotate new land cover labels. We selected xBD, Inria, Open Cities AI, SpaceNet, Landcover.ai, AIRS, GeoNRW, and HTCD datasets. For countries and regions not covered by the existing datasets, aerial images publicly available in such countries or regions were collected to mitigate the regional gap, which is an issue in most of the existing benchmark datasets. The open data were downloaded from OpenAerialMap and geospatial agencies in Peru and Japan. The attribution of source data is summarized here.
We provide annotations with eight classes: bareland, rangeland, developed space, road, tree, water, agriculture land, and building. Their color and proportion of pixels are summarized below. All the labeling was done manually, and it took 2.5 hours per image on average.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's (CTDEP) Permanently Protected Open Space Phase Mapping Project Phase 1 (Protected Open Space Phase1) layer includes permanently protected open space parcels in towns in Phase 1 that meet the CTDEP's definition for this project, the Permanently Protected Open Space Mapping (CT POSM) Project. The CTDEP defines permanently protected open space as (1) Land or interest in land acquired for the permanent protection of natural features of the state's landscape or essential habitat for endangered or threatened species; or (2) Land or an interest in land acquired to permanently support and sustain non facility-based outdoor recreations, forestry and fishery activities, or other wildlife or natural resource conservation or preservation activities.
Towns in Phase 1 of the CT POSM project are situated along the CT coast and portions of the Thames River and are the following: Branford, Bridgeport, Chester, Clinton, Darien, Deep River, East Haven, East Lyme, Essex, Fairfield, Greenwich, Groton, Guilford, Hamden, Ledyard, Lyme, Madison, Milford, Montville, New Haven, New London, North Branford, North Haven, Norwalk, Norwich, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Orange, Preston, Shelton, Stamford, Stonington, Stratford, Waterford, West Haven, Westbrook, Westport.
For the purposes of the project a number of categories or classifications of open space have also been created. These include: Land Trust, Land Trust with buidlings, Private, Private with buildings, Utility Company, Utility Company with buildings, Federal, State, Municipal, Municipal with buildings, Conservation easement, and non-DEP State land. The layer is based on information from various sources collected and compiled during the period from August 2002 trhough October 2003. These sources include municipal Assessor's records (the Assessor's database, hard copy maps and deeds) and existing digital parcel data. The layer represents conditions on the date of research at each city or town hall.

Phase 1 of the Protected Open Space Mapping (POSM) Project was accomplished by a contractor using only a querying process to identify open space. The contractor obtained assessor's data from the various towns and created programs to cull open space parcels strictly by query processes. We have found many errors and omissions in the data, but at this point in the project we cannot revisit all the coastal towns. Therefore, this data is being sent with a disclaimer for accuracy. You are welcome to use it but not to publish it. Please note that we do not include any water company parcels despite them being listed as part of our criteria because we must first obtain written clarification and clearance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
We have since changed our data collection method for Phase 2 of this project. DEP staff now visit each town hall and thoroughly research the land records. The project is expected to be complete by 2010.

This open-source alternative mapping service also publishes regular database dumps. We downloaded a full history dump of OSM contributions as of 24 February 2014, restricting this to the North American region as defined by Geofabrik 6 , which consists of the United States, Canada and Greenland. OSM groups individual changes to the map into changesets 7 when an editor saves their work. We used the timestamp of the last revision in a changeset as the time that the user saved the changeset. The resulting dataset (osm, changeset) contains 13,388,923 million changesets from 46,595 distinct users.

TwitterThe Digital Geomorphic-GIS Map of Gulf Islands National Seashore (5-meter accuracy and 1-foot resolution 2006-2007 mapping), Mississippi and Florida is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (guis_geomorphology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (guis_geomorphology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (guis_geomorphology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) The Stata data file "jumla_kavre_osmtracker_merged.dta” and equivalent excel file of the same name comprises data on water, waste management and landmarks collected by adolescent secondary school students during a "Citizen Science" project in the district of Kavre in the central hills of Nepal during April 2022 and in the district of Jumla in the remote mountains of West Nepal during June 2022. The project was part of a CIFF-funded Children in All Policies 2030 (CAP2030) project.
The data were generated by the students using an open access data collection and mapping application called Open Street Map (OSM) tracker, which had been adapted with Nepali language prompts by Researchers from Kathmandu Living Labs (KLL). Researchers from KLL and University College London (UCL) trained the adolescents to record tracks and way points of certain types of information including categories of waste management (rubbish dumps/bins), water sources and public amenities. The resulting datafile is a summary of the data collected showing the latitude/longitude, name, and category of the type of location and the district. The app and the process of gathering the data are described in a paper entitled "Citizen science for climate change resilience: engaging adolescents to study climate hazards, biodiversity and nutrition in rural Nepal" submitted to Wellcome Open Research in Feb 2023. The data contributed to Table 5, and Figure 4 of this paper.

The City Map consists of 5 different sets of maps, one for each borough, totaling over 8000 individual paper maps. The DCM datasets were created in an ongoing effort to digitize official street records and bring them together with other street information to make them easily accessible to the public. The Digital City Map (DCM) is comprised of seven datasets; Digital City Map, Street Center Line, City Map Alterations, Arterial Highways and Major Streets, Street Name Changes (areas), Street Name Changes (lines), and Street Name Changes (points).

TwitterSentinel-1 performs systematic acquisition of bursts in both IW and EW modes. The bursts overlap almost perfectly between different passes and are always located at the same place. With the deployment of the SAR processor S1-IPF 3.4, a new element has been added to the products annotations: the Burst ID, which should help the end user to identify a burst area of interest and facilitate searches. The Burst ID map is a complementary auxiliary product. The maps have a validity that covers the entire time span of the mission and they are global, i.e., they include as well information where no SAR data is acquired. Each granule contains information about burst and sub-swath IDs, relative orbit and burst polygon, and should allow for an easier link between a certain burst ID in a product and its corresponding geographic location.
