Revalidation disclaimer: The next anticipated revalidation date is an estimated date that may be subject to change based on factors such as a timing lag, updates made to an enrollment file prior to revalidation, and the State’s ability to extend the date for certain providers. Therefore, providers should make sure the correspondence address on their enrollment file is current, and providers should not submit a revalidation package until they receive a notice in the mail to do so. The notice will contain the deadline for submitting the revalidation.

PLEASE NOTE: the dataset listed below represents available active provider data current as of approximately the first week of each month. The dataset provides basic information about Fee-for-Service (FFS) providers enrolled in the Medi-Cal program, including providers enrolled as Non-physician Medical Practitioners (NMP) and Ordering, Referring and Prescribing (ORP) providers.. The information is based on a point in time and is expected to be updated monthly. The data were retrieved from the Provider Master File (PMF), which has been used in the claims payment process and is maintained by the Provider Enrollment Division (PED). The variables in the dataset include provider number, name, type, specialty, geographic information, etc. DHCS does not collect information on whether or not fee-for-services providers accept new Medi-Cal patients, and this dataset does not include Managed Care providers. For information about provider enrollment or updating file records, please see https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/PED.aspx The Enrolled Medi-Cal FFS Provider list now includes providers enrolled as Non-physician Medical Practitioners (NMP) and Ordering, Referring and Prescribing (ORP) providers.

The rate at which General Practitioners (GPs) refer patients to specialists and order pathology tests and imaging varies considerably between individual GPs. This study examines patterns of and reasons for referral, pathology and imaging in a group of randomly selected general practitioners in the Hunter Valley. The doctors who agreed to participate in the study were asked to sign a consent form and fill in a demographic questionnaire, which included questions about sex, age, postgraduate qualifications, years in practice, size of practice and practice characteristics. Every doctor was provided with a recording booklet based on one used by the Birmingham Research Unit of the Royal College of General Practitioners. The booklet was designed to record information about the patients age, sex and ,if applicable, details of referral, reason for referral, type of investigation and reason for ordering the investigation. The booklet results in four seperate data files, one each for the details of GP , patient, referral(s) and investigation(s).
